To attach a fundraiser to a YouTube livestream, open YouTube Studio and go to Earn → Giving. Create a fundraiser for an available U.S. nonprofit, add your scheduled livestream, and publish. The Donate button appears on the watch page or in live chat after the fundraiser’s start date—not necessarily as soon as you set it up.
Check that your channel and nonprofit are eligible
YouTube Giving has separate requirements for the creator’s channel and the recipient nonprofit. Check both before announcing a campaign; qualifying as a creator does not mean every charity will appear in the selection list.
Channel eligibility
YouTube’s current help guidance says a channel generally must be based in a supported location, have at least 10,000 subscribers, be in the YouTube Partner Program, and not be designated Made for Kids. Some channels outside those criteria may still see access, so check YouTube Studio rather than treating the subscriber threshold as the only test. YouTube’s eligible-location list can change; consult its YouTube Giving FAQs for the current list.
Nonprofit eligibility
The organization must be a U.S.-registered 501(c)(3) public charity, participate in Google for Nonprofits, opt into online fundraising through GuideStar, and comply with YouTube monetization policies and Community Guidelines. Private foundations are not supported. If the charity does not appear, it may not meet one of these conditions or may have opted out. YouTube says its Giving fundraising is currently available only for qualifying U.S. nonprofits. See Google for Nonprofits’ YouTube Giving guidance and the YouTube Giving FAQs.

Create a fundraiser for a scheduled livestream
- Sign in to YouTube Studio.
- Select Earn, then Giving.
- Choose Get started, then Create a fundraiser.
- Select an eligible U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit. If it is missing, use the nonprofit-request option if offered; a request does not guarantee that the organization qualifies.
- Enter the fundraiser details, such as its title and description. YouTube suggests setting a goal and duration.
- Add the scheduled livestream that should carry the fundraiser.
- Review the details and publish. You can also set up a fundraiser in Live Control Room under Advanced Settings.
These setup paths are described in YouTube’s Giving setup guidance. The Donate control appears after the fundraiser’s start date. If the start date is in the future, viewers may not see it yet.
What viewers see and how to monitor donations
With live chat enabled, viewers see the Donate control in chat. If chat is off, the control appears next to or below the stream. On mobile, live chat appears in portrait mode. You can monitor donation activity in Live Control Room with the Viewer Activity Widget.

Viewers can choose whether to make a live-chat donation public. A public donation displays the donor’s account name and amount to the creator; choosing anonymous means the username is not displayed in chat. YouTube says the creator and nonprofit do not receive donor personal information through the donation flow described in its Giving FAQs and donor help.
How YouTube handles donations
YouTube’s published terms say that 100% of a contribution goes to the nonprofit and YouTube pays transaction fees. Network for Good collects and distributes the donations at Google’s request. Disbursement is typically monthly; amounts below $10 are disbursed annually, according to YouTube’s FAQ. Network for Good has exclusive legal control of the funds after collection under the arrangement described there. If it cannot disburse funds to the selected nonprofit, it may distribute them to another qualifying U.S. nonprofit. These are YouTube’s stated program terms, not a guarantee about an individual campaign or its tax treatment. Read the YouTube Giving FAQs and nonprofit guidance for details.

Plan the livestream and its other features
YouTube’s general streaming guidance says the channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days. Choose a supported method—mobile, webcam, or encoder—that fits the production; the webcam route uses a computer with a webcam, but a webcam is not required for mobile or encoder streams. YouTube says Live Chat Donations replaced Super Chat for Good. Treat the Donate control as the charitable giving route, not as another name for Super Chat. Check the Giving FAQs when planning how viewers will interact.

Google for Nonprofits suggests linking an external fundraiser from a video end screen for creators who cannot use YouTube Giving. It names GoFundMe and JustGiving as examples of third-party fundraising sites; those examples are not an endorsement or a guarantee that a particular campaign qualifies for any YouTube feature. An end screen occupies the final 5–20 seconds of a video, according to Google for Nonprofits’ guidance. Confirm the external campaign’s destination, payment terms, and eligibility directly with the service.
