If your YouTube encoder says the stream key is “already in use,” first stop any other encoder or device that might be streaming with that key, then copy the current key from YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room and update your encoder. The exact message is not defined in the official guidance reviewed, so another active session is a troubleshooting possibility—not a confirmed diagnosis. The available evidence does not establish that JioFiber causes this error.
Fix the YouTube stream key error in this order
- Stop possible duplicate sessions. Close other instances of your encoder and stop any other computer or streaming device that might be publishing with the same YouTube stream key. Retry from the encoder you intend to use. This is a cautious first check based on the wording of the error; YouTube does not document “already in use” as proof that another session is active.
- Copy the current key from YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room, select Stream, copy the stream key, and paste it into the encoder’s stream-key field. YouTube’s troubleshooting advice for a third-party encoder startup error is to get a new key in the Live Control Room and update the encoder. Treat the key like a password: do not share it in screenshots, public posts, or support tickets.
- Update and inspect the encoder. Install the latest version available for your encoder, then check its preview, error indicators, and CPU load. If the preview looks healthy but the stream still will not connect, test the outbound internet connection rather than assuming the key or JioFiber is at fault.
- Check RTMPS settings only if the symptom points to transport or SSL. In the encoder, use the RTMPS URL shown in Live Control Room and confirm that the encoder supports RTMPS. For a relevant SSL error, YouTube advises checking the URL and trying port 443; for a timeout, confirm the URL and encoder support. Google’s RTMPS guidance specifies port 443 and correct SNI hostname handling. These checks address connection setup; they do not, by themselves, explain an “already in use” key message.
- Test the network, then check JioFiber if needed. Run an outbound connectivity test. If it shows a connection problem, YouTube advises contacting the ISP. On JioFiber, MyJio’s Run Diagnostics checks general connection, router, Wi-Fi, and device health and can guide basic repairs. If practical, try the encoder on another network as an isolation test; a successful or failed retry alone does not prove Jio blocked the stream.
- Escalate with the right details. If the problem continues after a fresh key and stopping other possible encoder sessions, note the exact error text, encoder name and version, whether you use RTMPS, and when it happened. For a keyless account-login integration, contact the encoder’s support team; otherwise use YouTube’s problem-report route. Contact Jio if diagnostics indicate a network issue. Never include the full stream key.
What the error does—and does not—tell you
YouTube documents refreshing a stream key and updating a third-party encoder after a startup error. Its guidance also separates encoder checks from outbound-network checks. Separately, YouTube and Google document RTMPS connection checks, while Jio documents general MyJio diagnostics. None of those facts defines the exact “already in use” wording or links it to JioFiber.
- A competing encoder session is one sensible possibility to rule out, not an official definition of the message.
- The available evidence does not establish a YouTube outage, a JioFiber block, a CGNAT problem, or a universal rule that one active session always produces this exact error.
- RTMPS URL, protocol, port, and SNI checks are relevant when the encoder reports a transport, timeout, or SSL symptom—not as a substitute for refreshing the key.
