Match the resolution YouTube expects in Live Control Room with the actual width and height your encoder sends. Check both sides of the stream: changing only the encoder or only YouTube’s ingestion setting can leave the mismatch unresolved.
What the resolution warning means
YouTube compares the incoming video’s width and height with the resolution selected in the stream’s Ingestion Settings. A warning that the current resolution “is not optimal” is different from one saying it “is not supported for this configuration” and naming an expected resolution. Treat the latter as a specific mismatch to correct; for either message, use the wording and expected value shown for your stream. YouTube’s resolution error guidance explains the dimensions requirement.
The warning is about video dimensions, not necessarily bitrate. If Live Control Room also reports a bitrate problem, investigate that separately: bitrate and upload capacity can affect feed stability, but changing bitrate alone does not make the encoder’s dimensions match YouTube’s selected resolution.
Fix the mismatch in Live Control Room
- Read the exact warning. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, open stream health and note the warning wording and any expected resolution it names. YouTube says errors are timestamped and remain visible until fixed; red errors are critical, while yellow errors are moderate and may reduce quality. See YouTube’s stream health guidance.
- Check the selected ingestion resolution. Find the stream’s resolution under Ingestion Settings. Compare it with the encoder’s actual output width and height, not just the resolution label selected in the encoder.
- Make the values agree. Either configure the encoder to send the resolution YouTube expects, or select a resolution in YouTube that matches what the encoder actually sends. Use a resolution supported by the particular stream configuration.
- Check automatic versus manual detection. YouTube recommends automatic detection by default: “By default (recommended), YouTube will automatically detect your resolution and frame rate.” If you deliberately use a manual resolution, verify the custom stream key’s manual Stream Resolution setting as well as the encoder output. YouTube explains encoder settings and custom stream keys here.
- Run a representative test. Before the public broadcast, test with audio and video movement similar to the bhajan stream you plan to run. Confirm the resolution warning clears and watch stream health after the change; the incoming feed, not merely the saved encoder preset, is what matters.
Automatic detection or manual resolution?
| Approach | What to verify | When it fits |
|---|---|---|
| Automatic detection | YouTube detects the encoder’s sent resolution and frame rate. Confirm that the encoder is actually outputting the intended dimensions. | YouTube recommends this by default; it avoids selecting a manual ingestion resolution that conflicts with the feed. |
| Manual resolution | The custom stream key has manual settings enabled, and its selected Stream Resolution matches the encoder’s actual width and height. | Use when you intentionally need a manually selected setting and can keep the key and encoder configuration aligned. |
If stream health also reports a bitrate problem
Use the recommendation for your actual codec, resolution and frame rate rather than treating one bitrate as universal. YouTube’s current help page lists H.264, H.265 (HEVC) and AV1 video over RTMP/RTMPS, up to 60 fps; AAC or MP3 audio; and CBR bitrate encoding. It recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds. The specific error for your stream may give a more targeted requirement. Check YouTube’s encoder recommendations.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
For H.264, YouTube recommends 4 Mbps for 240p–720p at 30 fps, 10 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps, and 12 Mbps for 1080p at 60 fps. These are recommended settings, not a guarantee that an internet connection can sustain the stream. Match the row to the stream’s actual codec, resolution and frame rate, and choose a quality your available upload connection can reliably support. If bandwidth is insufficient, YouTube’s error guidance suggests considering a lower selected resolution. Review the bitrate table and error guidance.
- If dimensions are wrong, correct resolution selection or encoder output first.
- If dimensions match but bitrate errors persist, compare the configured bitrate with YouTube’s recommendation and test available upload capacity.
- After changes, test the feed and monitor Live Control Room during the broadcast.
Plan the archive separately for a 24/7 channel
Fixing resolution does not ensure that YouTube will keep a complete archive of a continuous broadcast. YouTube says a live stream under 12 hours can be automatically archived, recommends keeping a local archive as backup, and warns: “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” For a 24/7 bhajan channel that needs a complete recording, arrange local recording and archive management rather than relying on the automatic archive. Read YouTube’s live archive guidance.

Or let it run in the cloud
If your 24/7 bhajan channel uses uploaded recordings or a playlist, StreamNeo can keep those videos looping as a YouTube live stream without leaving a home computer on. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It streams your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot rather than quality-based tiers; if YouTube drops the stream, StreamNeo automatically recovers. This does not go live from a camera, and it does not fix a resolution mismatch in a separate encoder configuration.
The first day is free with no card, one free day per account. The monthly option is $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are available in India; card checkout is available worldwide. Learn about StreamNeo or start the free day.
