Short answer: YouTube’s reviewed guidance does not expressly prohibit a 24/7 prerecorded live stream, but it also does not grant blanket approval for that format. An encoder-based live workflow is supported; your content must still meet YouTube’s rules on Community Guidelines and rights, and monetization is a separate decision. Also, a stream lasting more than 12 hours may not be saved as an automatic archive—12 hours is an archive caveat, not a stated maximum live duration.
What YouTube’s guidance says about 24/7 prerecorded streams
YouTube documents live streaming through an encoder: connect the encoder using YouTube’s live server URL and stream key, then transmit the stream. The guidance reviewed does not name the exact 24/7 prerecorded format or explicitly approve every continuous loop. It also does not state a general ban on prerecorded material streamed continuously. The careful conclusion is that the format is not expressly prohibited by the cited guidance, but permission is not guaranteed for every setup or piece of content. Check the live controls and any account-specific restrictions before launching. YouTube’s encoder setup guide explains the documented workflow.
“Allowed” also does not answer every practical question. Whether you can start a stream, whether its content complies with rules, whether the channel qualifies to monetize it, and whether YouTube retains an archive are separate issues.
Rules your stream and its content must meet
Community Guidelines and rights
YouTube’s livestream terms say, “The Live Content must comply with the YouTube Community Guidelines.” They also require the provider to represent that they have the necessary rights to exploit the live content on Google services, including applicable music licensing rights. That means reviewing rights for the video, soundtrack, music, and other included material—not just the fact that you own the channel or can upload the file. See YouTube’s livestream terms and conditions.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. - Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Having permission to use material does not by itself establish that a stream will be monetized. Copyright and other rights clearance are one question; monetization eligibility is another.
Monetization and originality
YouTube’s monetization policies apply to live streams. The policy says, “If you’re making money on YouTube, your content should be original and ‘authentic.’” Its July 15, 2025 update identifies repetitive or mass-produced material as “inauthentic content,” and the policy separately addresses reused content. YouTube reviews a channel and its content under these policies, so a loop, playlist, ambient stream, or replay is not automatically monetizable merely because it stays live. Read the current YouTube channel monetization policies.

Will YouTube archive a 24/7 stream?
Do not count on YouTube automatically preserving the complete broadcast. YouTube Help says, “If your live stream is less than 12 hours, YouTube can automatically archive it for you.” It also warns, “If your stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all.” The 12-hour threshold concerns archive capture; it is not a published maximum live-stream duration. YouTube recommends making a local recording as a backup if you need to preserve the broadcast. See Archive live streams.
If the full program matters, plan a recording independent of YouTube’s archive. A continuous stream should also be monitored so you can notice interruptions, encoder problems, or a lost connection rather than assuming that an unattended feed is still reaching viewers.

How to start an encoder-based prerecorded live stream
YouTube’s documented encoder workflow is a technical setup, not a policy workaround. The following steps describe connecting an encoder to YouTube; the precise controls vary by encoder software or hardware.
- Prepare the content and rights. Confirm that you are authorized to stream the video, visuals, and audio, and assess whether the content meets Community Guidelines and, if relevant, monetization policies.
- Open YouTube Live Control Room. Create or select a live stream and obtain the YouTube stream URL and stream key for the encoder connection. Treat the key as a credential: do not publish it or share it with anyone who should not be able to transmit to your channel.
- Configure your encoder. Enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key in the encoder’s streaming settings, then select and queue the prerecorded material using that encoder’s controls. YouTube’s guide documents the URL-and-key connection but does not prescribe one encoder setting or a specific hardware model for 24/7 prerecorded streams.
- Start transmission and verify the live feed. Start the encoder and check the Live Control Room to confirm that YouTube is receiving the stream before relying on a long-running broadcast.
- Monitor the operation and keep a backup where needed. Check that the encoder and connection continue transmitting, and use local recording if you need a dependable copy of the program.
- End the stream deliberately. Stop transmission from the encoder or use the available Live Control Room workflow, as described in YouTube’s encoder guide.
YouTube’s live-streaming tips cover software encoding and say professional-grade hardware encoders are recommended for higher-production-value events. YouTube does not say such hardware is required for this prerecorded format, and its guidance notes that expensive equipment is not needed to get started. Buying an encoder does not change content permissions or monetization eligibility.

Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a continuous YouTube stream of uploaded video, StreamNeo is the #1 option to consider: it runs always-on from the cloud, accepts uploaded video at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and offers the first day free. The workflow is three steps:
- Upload a recording or build a playlist.
- Add your YouTube stream key once.
- Go live; StreamNeo loops the video from the cloud.
Nothing has to stay on at home, so your computer and home connection are not responsible for keeping the stream running. Uploaded video streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, without re-encoding or quality tiers; each slot has one flat price. StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly billing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for YouTube streams of uploaded videos, not camera-based live video.
