How to Make a 24/7 YouTube Music Stream With OBS in India

Create a YouTube encoder stream, connect OBS with your server URL and key, and test your music, visuals, and upload connection. Plan for monitoring and do not assume a 24-hour stream will be archived as one replay.

You can run a continuous YouTube music stream with OBS by creating an encoder stream in YouTube Studio, sending it the audio and visuals you have rights to broadcast, and keeping the computer and internet connection running. Before going live, confirm the channel is eligible, test the full stream, and plan for outages. A 24-hour broadcast is not guaranteed to be saved as one replay.

Before you set up OBS

Check your channel’s live-streaming eligibility

  • Your channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days.
  • Enable live streaming early: first-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
  • YouTube’s general live-stream guidance states a minimum age of 16.

Check the current requirements in YouTube’s live-streaming help before scheduling a launch.

Get rights to every track and visual

Use music and visuals you created or have permission to transmit in a public live stream. A streaming subscription, attribution, or permission to play a track locally does not by itself establish that you can retransmit it live. YouTube’s terms for live content put the responsibility on the creator: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” Rights should cover the intended territories and any replay or recording, too.

Those terms do not identify which licenses apply to every Indian catalog, venue, recording, or business model. For a specific release or commercial use in India, confirm the applicable permissions with the rights holders or a qualified adviser rather than assuming one blanket license covers it.

How to make the stream in OBS

  1. Prepare the loop. Organize your cleared music files and decide what viewers will see. Build the scene in OBS with a visual you have rights to use, such as your own artwork or an appropriately licensed loop. Check that the audio source plays through OBS and is not muted.
  2. Create the YouTube encoder stream. In YouTube Studio, select Create > Go Live, then create or select a stream in Live Control Room. Copy the server URL and stream key shown for that stream.
  3. Connect OBS. In OBS, open Settings > Stream. Select YouTube as the service if available, or choose a custom service and enter YouTube’s server URL and stream key. Treat the key as a password: do not share it or show it on screen. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update OBS.
  4. Set output and video for your connection. In OBS, open Settings > Output and Settings > Video. Choose an output resolution and bitrate your sustained upload can support. YouTube’s guidance is to leave 20% upload-bandwidth headroom beyond the stream’s total bitrate. For example, a stream using a total bitrate of 5 Mbps calls for at least 6 Mbps of available upload capacity under that guidance. This is a bandwidth calculation, not a recommended OBS preset; YouTube’s page does not establish one setting for every computer, resolution, or connection. Use the current YouTube streaming tips and OBS controls to choose settings, then test them on your own connection.
  5. Start a test before announcing the event. Start streaming from OBS and check that Live Control Room receives the signal and displays the preview. Open the watch page, listen for clean audio, inspect the visuals, and test playback on a phone. Use a private or unlisted test where appropriate. YouTube recommends testing the complete setup and monitoring stream quality.
  6. Go public and monitor it. Once the preview and playback are right, make the event public as intended. Keep checking stream health, audio, video, and whether the watch page remains reachable. A local OBS stream depends on the computer, power, OBS, and the internet connection continuing to work. A UPS sized for the computer and router may help with brief local power interruptions, but it will not fix an internet outage or guarantee an uninterrupted stream.

Plan for a 24-hour broadcast and its replay

YouTube’s encoder help says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That guidance does not promise an archive of a continuous 24-hour stream as one replay. If retaining the broadcast matters, consider dividing the day into sessions shorter than 12 hours and/or making a separate local recording, then check how the archive behaves on your channel before relying on it. A local recording also needs enough disk space and a plan for recording failures.

Continuous operation is not the same as unattended reliability. Decide who will notice a failed stream, how they will check audio and video, and what they will do if OBS, the computer, power, or the network stops. YouTube warns that network disruption can break a stream; stable upload capacity and monitoring matter more than a one-time successful test.

Monetization and expectations

YouTube lists live ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships as possible live-stream features, subject to channel eligibility and settings. Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve.
