Phone verification does not make a YouTube channel instantly eligible for mobile live streaming. For a first mobile stream, YouTube says activation can take up to 24 hours; mobile streaming also requires at least 50 subscribers, a verified channel, and no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. Check the channel’s feature status in YouTube Studio before changing devices or repeating verification.
Why mobile live streaming may still be unavailable
YouTube treats phone verification and live-stream access as related but distinct checks. Verifying a phone number unlocks intermediate features, but it does not automatically satisfy every live-stream requirement. For a first mobile live stream, YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours after live streaming is turned on. Once access is available, mobile streams can be started instantly.
Mobile live streaming requires at least 50 subscribers, a verified channel, live streaming turned on, and no live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days. If any requirement is missing, waiting alone may not resolve the issue.
Check your channel in this order
-
Allow the first-stream activation window
If you just enabled live streaming for the first time, allow up to 24 hours for mobile activation. This is YouTube’s stated maximum activation window, not a guarantee that every eligibility issue will clear when it ends.

Yojaro 4Pack Silicone Suction Phone Case Mount, Silicon Adhesive Smartphones Stand Sticky, Hands-Free Phone Accessories Holder for Selfies and Videos (Black & White & Translucent & Light Pink)- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)

Confirm mobile eligibility
Check that the channel has at least 50 subscribers, is verified, and has no live-stream restriction in the last 90 days. Also confirm that live streaming is turned on.
-
Inspect Feature eligibility in YouTube Studio
On a computer, open YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility. Review the status shown for live streaming and the relevant feature tier. YouTube notes that individual features can have separate eligibility requirements.

- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.

Distinguish intermediate access from advanced access
Phone verification provides intermediate-feature access. Advanced features instead require sufficient channel history or identity verification by ID or video; the ID and video options are not available to every creator. YouTube says channel-history access usually takes 24 hours for most active channels, and video verification review usually takes 24 hours. These are advanced-feature processes, separate from the first mobile-live activation window.
-
Check for live-stream restrictions
A live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days disqualifies a channel from mobile live streaming. YouTube’s general live-stream guidance also calls for a verified channel and no live-stream restriction over that period.

If the verification code did not arrive
YouTube says a verification code should arrive immediately, but delivery can be delayed in densely populated areas or where an operator’s infrastructure is weak. If the text does not arrive:
- Try the voice-call option instead of SMS.
- If delivery still fails, try a different mobile operator.
- Check whether the number has already been used to verify two channels in the current year. YouTube limits one phone number to association with no more than two channels per year.
Repeatedly requesting codes may not address carrier delivery problems or the number’s channel-association limit.

What is different for channels based in India?
YouTube offers India-based channels an optional “phone verified” label. On desktop, the documented route is YouTube Studio → Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility → Intermediate features → Verify phone number. After verification, the label appears on the channel’s About page and the channel receives intermediate-feature access. YouTube says it added the label to comply with the Information Technology (Guidelines for Intermediaries and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.
YouTube’s guidance does not describe a separate India-only delay for mobile live activation. It does not give an exact account-level update time beyond saying that first mobile live-stream activation may take up to 24 hours. If Studio still shows live streaming as unavailable after that period, use Feature eligibility and YouTube Help to address the status shown for your account rather than assuming the India label changes the standard activation window.

Would switching to webcam or an encoder help?
YouTube lists mobile, webcam, and encoder as live-streaming methods. A webcam is an option from a computer; an encoder is another production method. Mobile has the 50-subscriber threshold described above. Switching methods may help if the issue is specific to mobile eligibility, but it does not bypass account verification or a live-stream restriction. Buying a phone, webcam, encoder, microphone, tripod, or SIM does not resolve a YouTube-side activation or eligibility delay.
Or let it run in the cloud
