Pay-as-you-go charges vary with traffic, requests, geography, and configuration; CloudFront flat-rate plans charge a fixed monthly price per distribution with published usage allowances. Neither model gives a universal cost per viewing minute: estimate your own workload, then verify rates and plan details on AWS’s live CloudFront pricing page.
How much does CloudFront cost for video streaming?
AWS’s CloudFront pricing page, checked October 3, 2026, lists these monthly flat-rate prices and baseline allowances per distribution. Verify them before budgeting because prices and plans can change.
| Plan | Monthly price | Monthly data-transfer allowance | Monthly request allowance |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 100 GB | 1 million |
| Pro | $15 | 50 TB | 10 million |
| Business | $200 | 50 TB | 125 million |
| Premium (default) | $1,000 | 50 TB | 500 million |
Premium also has configurable capacity and price points published by AWS: 75 TB and 750 million requests for $1,450/month; 125 TB and 1.25 billion for $2,250/month; 200 TB and 2 billion for $3,500/month; 350 TB and 3.5 billion for $6,000/month; and up to 600 TB and 6 billion requests for $10,000/month. These are AWS-published values checked October 3, 2026, not a guarantee that the same options or prices will remain available.
Those figures describe flat-rate CloudFront plans, not the total cost of running a video service. With pay-as-you-go billing, the amount depends on actual usage and configuration; use AWS’s current pricing page or calculator with your workload inputs rather than applying a generic per-minute figure.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Is CloudFront pricing fixed or based on traffic?
Both models are available. Pay-as-you-go is usage-based, while flat-rate plans are priced monthly per distribution and include stated allowances. AWS says a mix of the two billing models can be used across different distributions, so a service does not necessarily have to choose one model for every distribution.
| Consideration | Pay-as-you-go | Flat-rate plan |
|---|---|---|
| Bill pattern | Varies with usage and configuration | Fixed monthly price per distribution |
| Capacity budgeting | Estimate from expected traffic, requests, geography, and features | Compare expected requests and transfer against the plan’s allowances |
| Feature choice | More control over individual features and custom configurations | Selected services and features are bundled, with differences by tier |
| Excess usage | Usage affects the bill under applicable rates | No overage charges, but significant prolonged excess may lead to delivery adjustments |
AWS describes flat-rate plans as suitable for customers seeking bundled billing and no overage charges. Pay-as-you-go may better suit custom configurations, more control over individual features, or large predictable spikes. The right comparison is the full workload and required feature set, not simply the headline monthly fee.

What a flat-rate plan includes—and what can still cost extra
AWS says flat-rate plans include CloudFront and selected AWS services. Depending on the tier, these can include WAF and DDoS protection, Route 53 DNS, CloudWatch Logs ingestion, TLS certificates, serverless edge compute, and S3 storage credits. Feature availability is not identical across all tiers. Each plan applies to one distribution and up to one apex or root domain.
Under the flat-rate plan, transfer from AWS origins such as S3, Application Load Balancer, or API Gateway to CloudFront is free or waived. That does not make every component of a video platform free. S3 storage itself, some log storage, querying and delivery options, additional metrics, and Lambda@Edge invocations can be separately charged. Encoding, packaging, application services, and other infrastructure outside CloudFront can add costs as well. Check the plan details and each service’s pricing for the architecture you intend to run.

How to estimate video delivery usage
Gather inputs for pay-as-you-go
Before entering figures in AWS’s pricing page or calculator, estimate monthly viewer data transfer and request volume. Also identify viewer geography, cache behavior, distribution configuration, and any features you plan to use. Rates and service schedules can depend on region and configuration, so a traffic number alone is not enough to produce a reliable bill.
Estimate delivered data from viewing hours
As a rough workload estimate, monthly delivered gigabytes can be approximated as:

average delivered bitrate (bits/second) × viewer hours × 3,600 ÷ 8 ÷ 1,000,000,000
This is an estimate formula, not an AWS quote or guaranteed billing calculator. It excludes protocol and container overhead and does not account for delivery or cache effects. Use it to frame expected transfer, then use AWS’s current tools and assumptions to price the actual workload.

Check both allowances for flat-rate plans
For a flat-rate plan, compare expected monthly transfer and request counts with the relevant plan allowances, then confirm that its included features fit your needs. A plan that appears to have sufficient bandwidth may not have sufficient request capacity, and separately billed services can still affect total spend.

AWS says flat-rate allowances are baselines, not hard limits, and says it does not charge overage fees under these plans. It sends notifications at 50%, 80%, and 100% of an allowance. AWS’s March 24, 2026 product update says the first spike up to three times a monthly allowance is accommodated in that month. AWS assesses excess over multiple months; significant, prolonged excess may lead to delivery adjustments.
AWS’s Developer Guide gives examples of those adjustments, including serving from fewer or more distant edge locations or adjusting performance. In other words, no overage invoice is not a promise that service will remain unchanged under sustained, substantial excess. Monitor notifications and review capacity or the plan if usage is persistently above allowance.
Budgeting decision: which model fits?
- Choose a flat-rate plan when: a fixed per-distribution monthly price and bundled services match your needs, and forecast traffic and requests fit the published allowances.
- Consider pay-as-you-go when: you need greater feature-level control, a custom configuration, or must price a large but predictable spike against actual rates.
- Revisit the estimate when: viewer geography, cache behavior, viewing hours, bitrate, request volume, or selected AWS features change.
Do not treat CloudFront’s CDN price as the complete cost of delivering video. Price the surrounding storage, encoding, packaging, logging, and application components that your design uses, and recheck AWS’s live rates before committing to a budget.
Or let it run in the cloud
If your goal is a continuously running YouTube channel built from uploaded videos rather than a CDN for your own video service, StreamNeo is a different option: upload a recording or playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; videos stream as uploaded up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot; automatic recovery is included if YouTube drops the stream; and the first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are accepted in India, with card checkout worldwide. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
