The Facebook credentials send Castr’s output to Facebook; they are different from the source-ingest URL and key an encoder uses to send video into Castr.
Before you begin: distinguish the two RTMP connections
This setup has two possible links in its path. If you send video from an encoder into Castr, the encoder needs Castr’s source-ingest URL and key. Castr’s Facebook destination instead needs the Server URL and Stream Key issued by Facebook Live Producer. Do not paste Facebook’s destination credentials into your encoder’s Castr source settings. Castr documents its ingest credentials in the Stream Source Setup panel: How to find your Stream Key, RTMP and SRT Details.
You will need access to the Castr livestream project, the Facebook account or Page you intend to broadcast to, and a video source connected to Castr. Castr’s livestream guide says destination counts depend on subscription plan, so check the current plan and destination availability in your Castr account: How to Start a Live Stream in Castr.
Connect Facebook Live to Castr with Server/Key
- Open your Castr livestream. Sign in to Castr and open an existing livestream project or create one. In the stream dashboard, choose Add destination (or the equivalent platform-add control) and select Facebook Live. Castr’s interface labels may shift over time.
- Choose the custom credential route. Select Setup with Server/Key. This is Castr’s manual RTMP destination setup, separate from its Facebook account-linking/API option. See Castr’s Facebook Live connection guide.
- Get Facebook’s destination credentials. Open Facebook Live Producer for the account or Page you want to use. In the setup panel, choose Use Stream Key, then copy Facebook’s Server URL and Stream Key. Facebook may offer a persistent stream key that can be reused; keep it private and rotate it if it is exposed. Castr’s field mapping is documented in Connect and Stream to Facebook Using Server and Key from Castr.
- Enter the values in Castr. Return to the Facebook destination setup. Paste Facebook’s Server URL into Castr’s Streaming Server field and its Stream Key into Streaming Key. Add the stream title and description, select or add the source, and save or add the destination.
- Start the stream in Castr. Start sending the selected video source to Castr so Castr begins forwarding the stream to Facebook.
- Go live in Facebook Producer. With the server/key route, starting Castr does not by itself publish the Facebook broadcast. Return to Facebook Live Producer and click Go Live once the incoming stream is ready.
- Verify the destination. Confirm Facebook shows the broadcast as live and that the intended profile or Page is selected before sharing it with viewers.
Server/Key versus Facebook account linking

Castr’s May 2023 guide describes the account-linking route as an alternative to entering server/key credentials. Its older guide also discusses timeline, Page, and group destinations; check the current Castr interface for supported destination types rather than assuming those details still apply. Castr’s June 2024 article said Facebook API integration was available on Multistream Plus and above and that Pages required a paid Castr plan. Those are dated Castr plan statements, not a guarantee of current eligibility; verify the offer in your account: Streaming Live To Facebook Using Castr – Facebook API Integration.

Troubleshooting connection problems
No video reaches Castr
Check the encoder’s destination. To feed Castr, use the source-ingest URL and key shown in Castr’s Stream Source Setup panel, not the Facebook Server URL and Stream Key. Castr’s ingest reference is How to find your Stream Key, RTMP and SRT Details.
Castr is sending, but Facebook is not live
For Server/Key setup, open Facebook Live Producer and click Go Live after the Castr stream starts. Also check that the intended Facebook account or Page is selected.

The Facebook destination will not connect
Check that you copied the Facebook Server URL and Stream Key correctly and put each in its matching Castr field: Server URL to Streaming Server, Stream Key to Streaming Key. If necessary, retrieve the values again in Facebook Live Producer and replace them in Castr.
An encoder asks for a username and password for Castr
Castr’s July 2026 ingest guide says to leave username and password fields empty for its documented encoder-to-Castr ingest workflow. This does not change the Facebook destination credentials; see the dated Castr ingest instructions.

You need a reusable stream key or the plan blocks setup
If Facebook offers a persistent stream key in Live Producer, you can use it for reuse; treat it as a secret. If Castr blocks an additional destination or the API option, check current destination limits and plan eligibility in your account. Castr says destination count varies by subscription plan, and its specific API plan language was published in 2024.
Check Facebook eligibility and stream limits before scheduling
Castr’s June 2024 API article reported that, beginning June 10, 2024, Facebook accounts had to be at least 60 days old and Pages needed at least 100 followers to go live. The same Castr article described a 240-minute limit when continuous streaming was disabled, longer streams when continuous streaming was enabled (with no Facebook video saved), and an eight-hour maximum stream length. These are Castr’s dated descriptions of Facebook rules and limits, not freshly verified 2026 requirements. Confirm current eligibility and duration limits in Facebook Live Producer before relying on them.
