Yes—some viewers subscribe during a YouTube live stream. YouTube reports that number after a stream, but it does not publish a reliable rate for how often viewers of 24/7 streams subscribe. The honest answer is that subscriptions happen; how frequently they happen for a particular channel is something its creator must measure.
What YouTube’s data can tell you
YouTube Studio’s post-stream analytics include “New Subscribers,” defined as the number of users who subscribed to the channel during the stream. That confirms subscriptions can happen while a stream is live. It does not say what share of viewers subscribed: views and new subscribers are separate metrics, and the count alone is not a conversion rate. YouTube Help: See your live stream’s metrics.
YouTube has not established a typical subscription rate specifically for viewers who discover a 24/7 stream. Avoid assuming that most viewers subscribe, or applying a fixed percentage to a stream’s view count.
How to measure subscriptions on your own stream
Start with the post-stream report
In YouTube Studio, open the stream’s video-level Analytics report after it ends. Record new subscribers alongside views, total watch time, average view duration, peak concurrent viewers, and stream duration. Those figures provide context for the subscriber count; none alone shows what caused a viewer to subscribe. YouTube notes that Analytics data is processed and despammed, and that Analytics and Live Control Room can measure different information. See your live stream’s metrics.

Separate live viewing from other viewing
For deeper analysis, YouTube Analytics API playback reports offer subscribed-status and live-versus-on-demand dimensions alongside viewing metrics. The documentation describes a report for activity by subscribed and unsubscribed viewers, but it does not provide a representative subscription rate for 24/7 streams. Keep subscriber attribution in scope
A video-filtered subscribersGained report counts subscriptions attributed to that video’s watch page. A channel-level report can include gains from other YouTube locations too. Use the video-level figure when asking about one stream, and do not treat a broader channel total as subscribers acquired from that stream. YouTube Analytics API metrics.

How to compare streams without overclaiming
Compare like with like over a defined period. Note whether each item is a live or on-demand stream, its duration, traffic sources, average view duration, and subscribed-versus-unsubscribed viewing activity. These are useful ways to describe differences between your streams, not proof that any one factor caused subscriptions. If you calculate a viewer-to-subscriber percentage, state exactly which subscriber count, denominator, and attribution window you used; views and subscribers gained do not automatically represent the same group of people.
What broader live-viewing figures do—and do not—mean
YouTube reported that over 30% of its daily logged-in viewers watched live content on average in Q2 2025. That indicates live content reaches a substantial audience on the platform; it is not a subscription rate and does not describe 24/7 streams in particular.

A 2025 paper on the YTLive dataset describes more than 507,000 records from 12,156 live streams collected in May and June 2024. The records track concurrent viewers and broadcast durations, not subscription outcomes in the paper’s abstract. Its viewing-pattern findings therefore cannot establish how likely a viewer is to subscribe.
