To loop prerecorded dealership walkaround footage on YouTube Live, play a video or playlist in an encoder such as OBS, enable its repeat option, and send the encoder output to a YouTube stream using the stream URL and stream key. YouTube’s viewer-side repeat control does not repeat footage inside a live broadcast. Keep the loop clearly dated and link viewers to current inventory, because vehicles, prices, and availability can change while the video is running.
Choose a prerecorded loop or a live walkaround
A prerecorded loop is useful when you want a prepared tour to repeat without a presenter continually walking the lot. A live camera walkaround is better when a person needs to show current vehicles and respond as they film. Neither format automatically guarantees that every description or inventory detail remains current.

Check YouTube Live eligibility first

Verify the channel and enable live streaming in YouTube Studio. YouTube says first-time enablement may take up to 24 hours, so do this before the planned broadcast.

Check that the channel has no live-streaming restriction within the past 90 days. YouTube’s current eligibility guidance also states a limit of 10 active streams per channel and 3 per stream key.

Confirm the dealership has permission to use the footage and any music or voiceover. The cited YouTube guidance establishes general live-stream rules, not dealership-specific filming or rights permissions.

Prepare one walkaround file, or gather the files for a playlist. OBS Media Source supports MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, and other formats; compatibility still depends on the playback system, so test your media in OBS.

For one file, add an OBS Media Source and enable its Loop option so playback starts again when the file ends.

For multiple files, add an OBS VLC Video source, install VLC as required by OBS, create the playlist, and enable Loop Playlist.

Check the scene in OBS: confirm picture, audio, framing, overlays, and the current inventory link or contact prompt are legible. Make sure no stream key or private information appears on screen.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live and go on air

Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube’s stream settings into the corresponding streaming settings in OBS. Treat the key like a password: do not show it on screen or share it in a public document. If it is exposed, regenerate it in YouTube’s live settings.

Start streaming from OBS, then check the Live Control Room preview before going live. Verify the feed, sound, framing, and chat monitoring plan.

When the stream is running, monitor it and have a defined process for responding to interruptions or restarting the encoder. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; that is archive guidance, not a guarantee of uninterrupted operation or a promise about archiving longer broadcasts.

For a live camera walkaround
Use an encoder workflow when you need an external camera, microphone, or a multi-camera production. Walk the lot at a pace that gives viewers time to see vehicle condition, features, and labels; monitor the camera framing and sound as you move. A live tour shows what is filmed at that moment, but it does not automatically keep descriptions or later inventory listings accurate.
Keep a repeating stream useful and trustworthy

Set an update schedule for footage and overlays, and assign someone to remove vehicles or claims that are no longer current.

Make the prerecorded and repeating nature of the broadcast clear to viewers.

Provide a current inventory link and contact path so viewers can confirm availability rather than relying on an old segment.

Establish who checks the broadcast and what they do if playback, the encoder, or the network stops.
Troubleshooting common problems
