You can add eligible products to a YouTube livestream in YouTube Studio: open Create → Go Live, select Stream or Manage, then use Shopping → Edit beneath the live preview to find and tag products. The route depends on what you are selling: your own goods require an eligible YouTube Shopping channel and a connected store; products from other brands require eligibility for YouTube Shopping affiliate tagging. Monetization alone does not guarantee that tags will appear.
Choose the right product-tagging route
YouTube Shopping has separate paths for your own products and products sold by other brands. Decide which applies before opening the tag picker.
Your own products
Your channel must qualify for YouTube Shopping, and you must connect a supported store before tagging its products. YouTube names Shopify and Spring as examples of supported shopping platforms. Your products surface to viewers only where delivery is available.
Products from other brands
You need to qualify for YouTube Shopping affiliate tagging. YouTube’s current affiliate-program guidance says creators must be in the YouTube Partner Program, meet its subscriber threshold, be based in a participating country, and not be a music channel, Official Artist Channel, or associated with music partners. The channel audience must not be set as Made for Kids and must not have a significant number of videos set that way. Country availability and thresholds can change; check YouTube’s current affiliate-program eligibility requirements and the Earn section in Studio rather than relying on a fixed number from an older guide. Eligible creators can check or join through YouTube Studio → Earn → Programs.

Amazon products
YouTube says Amazon products can be tagged in livestreams, videos, and Shorts, but this is a particular third-party route, not a universal option. Its guidance lists YouTube Partner Program membership and YouTube Shopping affiliate enrollment in the United States, Brazil, or India. For US creators, it additionally requires an active Amazon Associates or Amazon Influencer Program account and a linked YouTube channel. See YouTube’s Amazon tagging instructions and verify that the creator and product are eligible.
Tag products in YouTube Studio on desktop
- Open YouTube Studio and choose Create → Go Live.
- In the left menu, select Stream or Manage.
- Under the live preview, open Shopping, then select Edit to open the product tag picker.
- Search for an available product and select Tag. Use the untag control to remove an item.
- Arrange products in the order you want viewers to see them, then save. You can also pin a featured product from the Shopping tab.
YouTube also allows products to be tagged after a livestream ends in Studio; those tags appear in the replay. You can pin or unpin a featured item during the stream. Changes made while a stream is running, including product order, may not appear immediately to every viewer. Mobile tagging and the tag-count detail
YouTube’s mobile instructions allow creators to tag before and during a livestream and state a maximum of 60 tags for that workflow. They recommend finishing tags at least 30 minutes before going live because some viewers may not see changes made during a stream right away. Treat the 60-tag limit as specific to the documented mobile instructions, not as a confirmed universal cap for every desktop flow. See YouTube’s instructions for the current workflow.
Choose products that belong in the stream
A tag is most useful when viewers can identify the item and understand why it belongs in the content. YouTube’s guidance for third-party products says items should be prominently featured, safely used, and meaningfully related to the livestream. Its broader tagging guidance also calls for products to be clearly depicted, identifiable, and shown in their intended use.

- Tag items that are actually featured, rather than adding loosely related products to fill out a list.
- Make the product visible and explain or otherwise identify it so viewers know what they are looking at.
- For live shopping, consider tagging items in the order they appear, using a clear call to action, and allowing time to explain products and answer questions. These are YouTube recommendations, not a promise of sales or ranking.
- For paid placements, review your contract and include appropriate paid-promotion or endorsement disclosures. You must own or control the content rights or clear them, including any necessary music rights.

Why tags may not appear to viewers
YouTube lists several conditions that can prevent product tags from showing, even when a creator normally qualifies for monetization or shopping features. Tags will not show to viewers if the stream contains claimed content or is associated with an Official Artist Channel or music partner, is Made for Kids, is limited or ineligible for monetization, is paid content, or has been blocked for ads. A monetized livestream is not automatically eligible for visible shopping tags.

Viewer visibility also depends on location, retailer participation, and shipping. Creator-owned products surface where delivery is available; third-party products must be offered by participating retailers. YouTube’s published tagging instructions cover livestreams and replays, but do not state a distinct product-tag rule for uninterrupted 24/7 streams, very long sessions, or stream restarts. The regular tagging workflow above is the documented guidance. Do not assume tags persist after a restart or that continuous streams receive special treatment; confirm current behavior in Studio and avoid promising viewers that tags will remain through a restart.
