Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo fix crackling in an OBS YouTube Live shop promotion, first find where the noise enters: the microphone or other source, OBS monitoring, the local recording, or YouTube playback. Make a short test recording, compare those points, and change settings only when the comparison or a diagnostic points to a cause. There is no established India-specific OBS fix; local internet is relevant when the encoder output is clean but the delivered stream is not.
Find where the crackling starts
Before replacing a microphone, interface, or cable, reproduce the problem in a short test and compare the audio at each stage. This sequence is a practical diagnostic, not a prescribed official YouTube procedure. YouTube advises checking sources routed to the encoder, encoder errors and CPU load, and the local archive (YouTube audio and video quality guidance).
- Listen to the microphone or other source outside OBS, if you can. If it crackles there too, inspect that device, its connection, and its driver or settings.
- Listen to OBS monitoring. If monitoring crackles but the local recording is clean, check the selected monitoring device and its routing separately. An OBS forum case discusses monitoring buffer buildup as one possible synchronization issue, not a universal explanation (OBS forum discussion).
- Record locally in OBS while reproducing the issue, then play the file back. If the file crackles, focus on the source, OBS routing and device formats, and system load.
- Compare the local recording with the YouTube stream. If local audio is clean but YouTube playback is not, inspect Live Control Room stream health and messages, then test the outbound connection.
Note whether the noise is continuous or appears only under load, with a particular scene or source, or after going live. Temporarily test one input at a time to identify whether a specific microphone or other source is responsible.
Check OBS, device, and YouTube audio settings
Confirm the intended input and routing
Verify that OBS is capturing the microphone or interface you intend to use. Check that an unused webcam microphone or other input is not also being mixed in. If one source alone produces noise, test it by itself and check its selection and routing before changing other settings.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Compare sample rates without assuming a mismatch
Compare OBS Settings → Audio sample rate with the audio device’s operating-system format and, if applicable, the interface control panel. A configuration-specific OBS forum case describes a 48 kHz OBS project and a 16 kHz microphone, and recommends consistent formats (OBS forum sample-rate discussion). That is a clue to investigate when your setup has differing rates, not proof that sample-rate mismatch causes every crackle. Check your device’s supported formats before changing them.
Use YouTube’s published encoder guidance for the stream type
For RTMP/RTMPS, YouTube lists AAC or MP3 audio. Its advanced guidance lists these configuration values; they are recommendations, not outcome statistics (YouTube encoder settings):

| Audio format | Sample rate | Audio bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| Stereo | 44.1 kHz | 128 Kbps |
| 5.1 surround | 48 kHz | 384 Kbps |
Do not confuse YouTube’s published stereo recommendation of 44.1 kHz with the forum case suggesting consistent 48 kHz formats across OBS and a device. Check the actual input, output, and platform requirements rather than forcing one rate without diagnosis. YouTube’s error guidance says the ingestion stream should contain one audio stream—not zero or multiple—and directs creators to correct audio setting errors (YouTube live encoder error guidance).
Check stream health, encoder messages, and system load
When the local file also crackles, check OBS logs and YouTube’s Live Control Room messages for audio or encoder errors, and observe CPU load. YouTube identifies routed sources, encoder errors, and CPU load as things to check when audio or video quality is poor (YouTube audio and video quality guidance).

If OBS’s local output is clean but the live playback is not, check stream health in Live Control Room and test the outbound connection. YouTube recommends checking stream health and testing the connection; if testing reveals a connection problem, contact your internet service provider (YouTube audio and video quality guidance; YouTube live stream monitoring tips).
Do not raise the video bitrate as a speculative audio-crackle fix. A bitrate change should follow an observed stream or encoder diagnostic; the available YouTube guidance does not establish increasing video bitrate as a remedy for crackling.

Run a shop-promo test before customers arrive
YouTube recommends a pre-event test with audio and movement similar to the intended stream, and advises continuous monitoring. Its encoder guidance says: “Make sure to test before you start your live stream. Tests should include audio and movement in the video similar to what you’ll be doing in the stream.” Its live tips add: “Continuously monitor streams for audio and video quality.” (YouTube encoder settings; YouTube live stream monitoring tips.)
- Prepare the OBS scenes, inputs, and YouTube encoder ahead of the promotion.
- Preview and run a test using the same microphone, speech level, product demonstration sounds, planned music, and scene changes you expect during the event.
- Listen through the monitoring route you will use while live. If available, check playback on a second device as well.
- Review OBS logs and YouTube stream-health messages, then inspect the local recording. Do not open the promotion until you have checked the audio path you intend to use.
- During the event, keep monitoring audio and video quality rather than assuming the pre-event test guarantees an uninterrupted stream.
What to replace only after testing
A crackling symptom alone does not establish that a microphone, audio interface, or cable has failed. If a controlled test isolates a particular device or connection—for example, the noise persists at the source before OBS—then investigate or replace that item. The available guidance does not identify a universally effective hardware purchase; test existing equipment and settings first.

Or let it run in the cloud
If your shop channel needs an uploaded promo video looped as a YouTube live stream, StreamNeo is an alternative to running OBS continuously: upload the video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It runs in the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home; it streams the uploaded video as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo plays uploaded videos rather than going live from a camera, and streams to YouTube only.
