Compress the wedding footage into a playback file that preserves the original frame rate and looks good on faces, fabric, and motion; then configure the live encoder separately for YouTube’s ingest requirements. Those are two different encoding stages. For a 24/7 stream from India, test the complete setup on the actual connection and leave upload-bandwidth headroom rather than relying on a nominal speed rating.
1. Check the footage before choosing compression settings
There is no dependable one-size-fits-all compression ratio for wedding footage. Source resolution, frame rate, camera settings, movement, and fine details all affect how much a file can be reduced before quality becomes visibly worse. YouTube’s recommended settings are platform targets, not a promise of a particular file-size reduction.
Inventory and protect the originals
- Make a backup of the original recordings before transcoding.
- For each group of clips, note the resolution, frame rate, orientation, audio, and total runtime. Use the properties shown by your editing or media application; do not assume all cameras recorded alike.
- Decide what resolution the stream should present based on the footage and the sustained upload capacity where it will run. Do not upscale lower-resolution recordings to create detail they do not contain.
- Keep the recorded frame rate unless there is a deliberate reason to convert it. If the source is interlaced, deinterlace it where appropriate.
Make and inspect a representative sample
Export a short sample containing typical scenes, then check faces, embroidered clothing, fine decorations, camera movement, gradients, and audio sync on a normal viewing display. Compare its file size and visible quality with the original. If details look smeared or motion looks unnatural, change the export settings and test again before processing the full set. No official YouTube figure establishes a universal acceptable quality loss for wedding footage.
2. Export playback files separately from live-stream output
A compressed video file used in a playlist is not the same thing as the signal sent to YouTube Live. For uploaded video files, YouTube recommends MP4, H.264 video, AAC-LC or Opus audio, 48 kHz audio, and preserving the frame rate at which the content was recorded. For SDR uploads, its recommendations include 8 Mbps for 1080p at standard frame rates and 5 Mbps for 720p at standard frame rates. These are upload-file recommendations, not live-ingestion bitrates. See YouTube’s recommended upload encoding settings.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Choose an export suitable for the playback workflow you will use, and verify that your player or encoder accepts it. Avoid applying a second conversion without a reason: additional transcoding can take time and may reduce quality. Keep the untouched masters as your recovery copy.
3. Set the live encoder for YouTube’s ingest requirements
If a local player or encoder sends the playlist to YouTube, configure its live output independently of the file export. YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists RTMP or RTMPS ingestion and H.264, H.265/HEVC, or AV1 codecs. Its guidance calls for constant bitrate (CBR), supports frame rates up to 60 fps, and recommends a two-second keyframe interval that does not exceed four seconds. Use a codec supported by the actual encoder and playback chain.

H.264 live bitrate examples
| Live output | YouTube H.264 recommendation |
|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps |
| 720p at 60 fps | 8 Mbps |
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps |
These are YouTube’s live-ingestion recommendations, not mandatory bitrates for the compressed source files. Match the live resolution and frame rate to the material and the connection; a smoother frame rate or higher resolution needs more bandwidth. For other supported resolutions and frame rates, consult YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
4. Test upload capacity at the streaming location
For a live stream, sustained upload capacity—not download speed—is the relevant connection limit. YouTube says the total stream bitrate cannot exceed available upload bandwidth and recommends leaving 20% headroom. Its guidance also warns that shared connections and interruptions affect reliability. Test from the actual location and connection that will carry the stream; do not substitute a country-wide figure or a best-case speed test for a sustained test.

- Measure upload performance over a sustained period, preferably when the connection is likely to be busy.
- Add together the live video and audio bitrates to estimate the stream’s total bitrate.
- Keep that total within the available upload capacity, leaving YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. If the connection fluctuates, reduce output bitrate or resolution rather than running at the edge of capacity.
- Test on the wired or Wi-Fi connection you plan to use. Shared Wi-Fi, ISP congestion, power interruptions, and a cellular fallback can affect the real setup, but their performance varies by location and provider.
YouTube’s streaming tips advise: “The total bitrate you’re streaming cannot exceed the amount of upload bandwidth available.” The recommendations are platform-level, not India-specific.
5. Configure the stream and run a full test
- In YouTube Live Control Room, create or select the live stream and obtain its stream URL and stream key. Follow YouTube’s live-stream settings guidance for the available controls.
- Enter the URL and key in the encoder or playback system that will send the playlist. Keep the key private; anyone with access to it may be able to send a stream to the channel.
- Set the output codec, resolution, frame rate, bitrate mode, bitrate, and keyframe interval to a supported combination. For H.264, use the applicable live recommendation rather than the file-export bitrate.
- Test the entire workflow with representative wedding footage, including music and scenes with motion. YouTube explicitly advises testing before starting a live stream.
- Check YouTube’s stream-health feedback and watch the stream on another device. Confirm that picture, sound, and audio sync remain acceptable.
- If recording locally while streaming, check that the local archive file is growing. Decide whether YouTube DVR is useful for viewers and set that option in Live Control Room if available for the stream.
A test confirms the setup at that moment; it does not guarantee unattended operation. A continuous stream also depends on the playback software or hosting arrangement, power, network, and a recovery plan after interruptions. The cited YouTube guidance does not establish a universal 24/7 playlist implementation, stream-duration limit, or uninterrupted-uptime guarantee.

6. Rights and channel considerations
Before streaming, make sure you have the necessary rights to the wedding footage and any music or other material included in it. The technical settings above do not establish permission to broadcast that material. A continuous live stream and a long uploaded video are different publishing choices; verify current YouTube requirements for your channel and intended use rather than assuming eligibility, monetization, or duration rules.
