You can schedule a YouTube live event in YouTube Studio, but scheduling alone does not keep a broadcast running 24/7 or provide a documented time-zone conversion or recurring schedule. Create the event in Live Control Room, verify the time shown in your Studio interface, name the time zone in the event details, and arrange a continuously available encoder or cloud service to send the stream.
Schedule a YouTube live stream in Studio
YouTube’s documented encoder workflow uses the Live Control Room’s Manage tab. Scheduling creates an upcoming event viewers can find and share; the encoder still has to send the video, and you must start the event in Live Control Room.
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Go Live, then open the Manage tab.
- Create the event. Select Schedule Stream. You can reuse settings from a previous stream or create a new one. Review the title, description, privacy, and scheduled time before saving. YouTube’s encoder setup guide describes this workflow.
- Make the time clear internationally. Include the date and a named time zone, such as “20:00 UTC” or “20:00 India Standard Time (IST),” in the description and promotional posts. If viewers are concentrated in several regions, add conversions for those regions and identify the date alongside each time.
- Share the event link. A scheduled stream may appear as upcoming, can be shared, and may offer viewers a Notify me reminder. YouTube describes scheduling as a way to promote a stream in its encoder guide and live stream settings guide.
- Connect and start the encoder at stream time. Enter YouTube’s stream URL and stream key in your encoder, start sending the feed, check the Live Control Room preview, and select Go live. Keep the stream key private; anyone with access to it may be able to send a feed to your event.
What time will viewers in other time zones see?
YouTube’s reviewed help pages explain how to set a scheduled time, but do not specify whether Studio displays it in the creator’s local time, stores it in UTC, or localizes it for viewers. They also do not document a time-zone conversion feature. Check the time shown in your own Studio interface before publishing, then state the time zone explicitly in the event description and announcements rather than assuming every viewer sees a converted time.
For a recurring broadcast, account for daylight-saving changes where they apply. Recheck the event time and update your announcements after seasonal clock changes; this is a general scheduling precaution, not a documented YouTube automation feature.

Does YouTube schedule recurring 24/7 streams?
The documented workflow schedules a stream for later and allows reuse of prior settings. The reviewed YouTube help pages do not establish a native recurring-event scheduler. Nor does creating a scheduled event make it continuously live: an encoder or streaming system must send content, and the event must be started in Live Control Room.
For a genuine always-on channel, plan separately for an uninterrupted video source, encoder or streaming service, stable network and power, monitoring, recovery after interruptions, and a person who can respond to failures. YouTube’s streaming tips recommend setting up an encoder at least two hours ahead, starting it at least 15 minutes before the event, checking the preview, testing encoder failover, and confirming access. These are event-preparation recommendations, not an uptime guarantee for a continuous channel.

Prepare replays and recordings for long broadcasts
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived in its encoder guide. That page does not promise the same archive outcome for streams longer than 12 hours. If your broadcast runs continuously beyond that threshold, make a separate recording and replay plan instead of relying on an archive being available.

Troubleshoot a scheduled stream
- The event is scheduled, but viewers see no live video: Scheduling does not send a feed. Confirm the encoder is connected with the correct YouTube stream URL and stream key, start it, check the preview, and select Go live in Live Control Room.
- Viewers are arriving at the wrong time: The reviewed help pages do not establish how Studio converts times for creators or viewers. Verify the displayed time in Studio and publish the date, named time zone, and relevant regional conversions together.
- The stream stops unexpectedly: Check encoder, network, and power status; confirm someone can monitor the broadcast and respond. YouTube recommends testing encoder failover before an event, but the cited guidance does not promise uninterrupted 24/7 operation.
- A long stream has no replay: YouTube’s cited archive statement covers streams under 12 hours only. For longer broadcasts, retain a separate recording if a replay is important.
- A stream key may be exposed: Treat it as a credential. Review stream settings and replace the key if it may have been shared or published.
Copyright and channel-policy checks
Before looping a recording, confirm you have the rights to its video, music, and other included material. A live stream is not exempt from copyright rules. Also make the channel’s purpose and the value of its content clear; repeatedly streaming material you do not own or have permission to use can create copyright and monetization risks. Review YouTube’s current policies and the rights attached to every asset before scheduling or starting a long-running broadcast.
