To add subtitles—more precisely, captions for spoken narration—to a 24/7 YouTube real estate tour, configure captions on each YouTube Live stream. For a basic narrated tour, enable YouTube’s English automatic captions if the option is available and use normal latency. For greater control, send EIA 608/CEA 708 captions through your encoder or use the event’s caption-ingestion URL with compatible caption software or a captioner. Test the setup through stream restarts: YouTube’s guidance does not describe a special caption mode for continuous streams.
Choose the caption method that fits the tour
Captions represent spoken audio. They are useful when a presenter describes a property, but they do not automatically label rooms, identify features, or add persistent property details to silent footage. YouTube’s guidance concerns sending captions to a live stream; it does not describe a way to turn property labels into captions.
| Method | What it requires | Key limitation |
|---|---|---|
| YouTube automatic captions | Enable the option for the individual stream in Live Control Room; use normal latency and select the video language. | YouTube documents English-only live automatic captions. Availability can vary by channel, and audio or speech-recognition problems can prevent captions from appearing. |
| Embedded captions | Choose Embedded 608/708 in the stream setup and configure the encoder to send EIA 608/CEA 708 captions. | YouTube currently supports one caption track for this workflow. |
| Event caption-ingestion feed | Enable captions in the event setup, apply the required broadcast delay, then give the signed ingestion URL to compatible caption software or a captioner. | YouTube calls for a 30- or 60-second delay and allows one caption feed per stream entry point. |
YouTube states that captions must be sent to the live stream; its professional caption instructions describe the embedded and event-ingestion routes. See YouTube’s live caption requirements.
Enable automatic captions for a narrated tour
- Open the stream in YouTube Live Control Room and open its stream settings.
- Turn on Closed captions, choose Automatic captions, and select the video language. YouTube’s cited help page documents English-only live automatic captions.
- Use normal latency. The automatic-caption instructions describe the setting as applying to an individual stream, not the whole channel.
- Test with clear narration and confirm that captions appear to viewers before relying on them for a continuous tour.
The option may not be enabled for every channel. Poor or unclear audio, unsupported language, overlapping speech, and speech-recognition problems can all interfere with captions. YouTube’s automatic-caption guidance also says live captions disappear after the stream; new captions are generated for the video-on-demand archive and may differ. Check the current YouTube automatic captioning guidance for eligibility and interface details.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Send professional captions through an encoder
- Create or open the live stream in YouTube Live Control Room and enable Closed captions.
- Select Embedded 608/708 as the caption delivery option.
- Configure the encoder to send EIA 608 or CEA 708 caption data along with the video.
- Test the full signal and confirm that a viewer can see the caption track.
YouTube says 608/708 can support up to four language tracks, but its current live-caption instructions say YouTube supports one caption track. Do not assume you can deliver several simultaneous language tracks through this workflow. See the caption requirements and YouTube’s encoder stream setup guidance.
Software and caption providers
YouTube lists Total Eclipse, Case CATalyst, CaptionMaker, and StreamText.Net in its caption instructions. It specifies Eclipse/AccuCap 6.0.0.5 or greater, Case CATalyst BCS version 14.52 or greater, and CaptionMaker version 5.22 or later; it describes StreamText.Net as a cloud caption delivery system compatible with speech-to-text platforms. These are the versions and details in YouTube’s instructions, not a guarantee of present-day vendor support. Confirm current compatibility and setup with the provider before choosing a workflow.

Use the event caption-ingestion URL
- Enable captions in the event setup in YouTube Live Control Room.
- Set the broadcast delay to 30 or 60 seconds, as YouTube requires for this workflow.
- Copy the signed caption-ingestion URL and provide it to your captioner or compatible caption software.
- Keep the URL private: it is signed and is used to deliver captions to the event.
- Test caption delivery on the actual stream entry point before depending on it.
YouTube allows one caption feed per stream entry point for this event workflow. If you change the entry point or create a new one, re-check the caption connection. The details are in YouTube’s live caption requirements.
Plan for restarts and archives in a continuous stream
YouTube’s cited caption guidance does not set out a dedicated 24/7 procedure. Treat caption delivery as something to validate across the way your continuous channel actually runs, including any scheduled session boundaries, restarts, or changes to its stream key or entry point. YouTube recommends testing the encoder and monitoring stream health; for a tour, include intelligible spoken audio in the test and check that viewers see captions.

YouTube says live automatic captions disappear when a stream ends and that new captions generated for the archive may differ. Its encoder instructions say streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. For longer continuous programming, decide how sessions and recordings will be managed rather than assuming one archive or live-caption track continues indefinitely. These details are useful for planning, but YouTube’s cited pages do not prescribe a specific 24/7 caption procedure.
Troubleshoot missing or unreliable captions
- The automatic-caption option is missing: availability can vary by channel. Check the current Live Control Room options and YouTube’s automatic-caption guidance.
- Automatic captions do not appear or are inaccurate: check that the stream language is supported, narration is clear, and speakers are not talking over one another. Test again with clean spoken audio; YouTube does not promise a particular accuracy level.
- Embedded captions are absent: verify that Closed captions is enabled, Embedded 608/708 is selected, and the encoder is actually sending EIA 608/CEA 708 data. Confirm the track in a viewer-facing test.
- The captioner’s event feed is not reaching YouTube: confirm that the captioner is using the signed URL for the correct event and entry point, and that the event setup uses the required 30- or 60-second delay. Reissue or reconnect the feed if the stream entry point has changed.
- Captions stop after a restart: test the restarted session and re-check the caption source, stream entry point, and encoder settings. YouTube does not document a special automatic carry-over procedure for a 24/7 stream.
- Captions differ on the archive: YouTube says the live automatic captions disappear at stream end and new VOD captions may differ. Review the archive’s captions separately if the recording needs to be accessible.
