Check the finished video file’s metadata with FFprobe, then compare its video bitrate with YouTube’s recommendations for prerecorded uploads at the same resolution and frame rate. If by “24/7 stream” you mean an encoder sending a continuous live feed, use YouTube’s separate live-stream settings instead. The bitrate targets are different. The guidance below is YouTube’s general guidance; the available sources do not establish a separate India-specific target.
Check the exact file you plan to upload
FFprobe, included with FFmpeg, can report a file’s format and individual stream properties. Run this command in a terminal, replacing input.mp4 with the filename or path to your final export:
ffprobe -v error -show_entries format=duration,bit_rate:stream=codec_type,codec_name,width,height,r_frame_rate,bit_rate -of default=noprint_wrappers=1 "input.mp4"
FFprobe’s documentation covers inspecting container and stream data and selecting fields with -show_entries (FFmpeg ffprobe documentation).
Which bitrate to read
- Look for the bitrate on the stream whose
codec_typeisvideo. That is the video stream’s bitrate when the file reports it. format.bit_ratedescribes the overall file/container rate. It includes audio and container overhead, so it is not a video-only bitrate. Google’s YouTube Data API documentation distinguishes the combined file bitrate from the video stream bitrate (Google for Developers: Videos).- If the video stream bitrate is absent, note that it was not reported. You may use the format bitrate as an overall-file figure, but do not label it video-only.
The output can also show the codec, width, height, frame rate, and duration. Those properties help you choose the right YouTube recommendation to compare against.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Compare a prerecorded upload with YouTube’s upload recommendations
If you are uploading a completed video file as a normal YouTube video, use YouTube’s recommended upload encoding settings, not the live encoder table. The following are YouTube’s SDR upload recommendations; the help page describes them as recommended settings, not a maximum bitrate or a guaranteed quality result.
| Resolution | Standard frame rates (24, 25, 30 fps) | High frame rates (48, 50, 60 fps) |
|---|---|---|
| 720p | 5 Mbps | 7.5 Mbps |
| 1080p | 8 Mbps | 12 Mbps |
| 1440p | 16 Mbps | 24 Mbps |
| 2160p (4K) | 35–45 Mbps | 53–68 Mbps |
These values are for SDR. YouTube’s upload guidance also distinguishes HDR settings, so check the applicable HDR recommendations if your export is HDR rather than comparing it to the SDR table. Match resolution and frame-rate category before judging the bitrate. The same upload guidance recommends MP4, H.264 video, AAC-LC/Opus/Eclipsa Audio, and variable bitrate for H.264 uploads.

How to interpret a mismatch
If the video stream’s bitrate is well below the applicable recommendation, you can consider exporting again with a more appropriate bitrate. That is a practical comparison, not a promise that matching the recommendation will produce a particular perceived quality. A higher bitrate in a later export cannot restore detail already lost in an earlier encode.
Use live-stream settings only for a live encoder feed
If software or a hardware encoder is continuously sending video to YouTube, consult YouTube’s separate live encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions. For H.264, YouTube lists these 1080p values:

| Live output | Minimum bitrate | Recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 6 Mbps | 17 Mbps |
For live encoding, YouTube recommends constant bitrate (CBR) and a two-second keyframe interval, and says not to exceed four seconds. Its live table varies by codec, resolution, and frame rate; choose the row for your actual output. These are live ingestion settings, not targets for a prerecorded file’s upload bitrate.
Account for India and upload bandwidth
The YouTube guidance cited here does not provide a different file-bitrate recommendation for India. Use the general upload recommendation that matches your file; do not change the target solely because the channel or uploader is in India.

For a live encoder, bitrate also has to fit your available outbound connection. YouTube advises checking upload bandwidth and leaving headroom; its streaming tips recommend 20% headroom and caution that download speed can be higher than upload speed. This concerns keeping a live feed supplied, not the bitrate metadata of a finished file. For a large prerecorded upload, connection stability and transfer time matter, but the cited guidance does not set an India-only bitrate requirement.
