To loop one Marathi song in OBS, add it as a Media Source and enable Loop. To rotate several songs, add a VLC Video source, build a playlist, and enable Loop Playlist. Connect OBS to a YouTube Live stream with its stream key, set the output to 4K at 60 fps, and use the bitrate YouTube recommends for your chosen codec. Before broadcasting publicly, check the Live Control Room preview and test stream health. These steps repeat video files; they do not grant permission to broadcast the music.
Before you start: files, rights, and equipment
You need OBS installed, local video files for the songs, a YouTube channel with live streaming available, and an internet connection and computer capable of encoding and uploading 4K/60 video. YouTube lists OBS among its no-charge, open-source encoder options in its encoder setup guide.
OBS Media Source supports common video formats such as MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM, as well as audio formats including MP3, AAC, OGG, and WAV. If a file does not load or behaves unexpectedly, check its format and test it in OBS before scheduling a long stream. OBS documents looping for local media sources and playlists in its Media Sources guide.
Use only recordings you have the necessary rights to stream. A song being Marathi, traditional-sounding, available on another platform, or in your personal collection does not by itself establish live-broadcast permission. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content; a match can trigger a placeholder warning, interruption, or termination. If you have a license, YouTube says you may also need the rights holder to add your channel to its Content ID allowlist. See YouTube’s live-streaming restrictions and YouTube’s livestream terms.

Loop one song or rotate a playlist in OBS
Option 1: repeat a single song file
- Open OBS and select the scene you want to use. In Sources, click + and choose Media Source.
- Name the source, then choose whether to create a new source or add an existing one. In its properties, select the local song video file.
- Enable Loop. OBS documents this option as off by default, so verify it is checked. Keep Restart playback when source becomes active enabled if you want the file to restart when the source is activated.
- Click OK, then check the preview and audio meters. Make sure the video fits the canvas as intended; adjust its size and position in the preview if needed.
When the file reaches its end, OBS can replay it. The documentation does not promise gapless audio between repetitions, so listen to the end-to-start transition during a rehearsal.
Option 2: rotate several song files
- Install VLC if it is not already installed; OBS requires VLC for the VLC Video source to appear.
- In the scene, select Sources > + > VLC Video. Create a source and add the authorized files to its playlist in the order you want them played.
- Check Loop Playlist. OBS documents this option as on by default, but confirm the setting in the source properties.
- Click OK and preview the playlist. Listen to the transitions and verify that each file plays correctly before starting the stream.
For either setup, run a private or unlisted rehearsal first. That lets you inspect playback, sound levels, transitions, and YouTube’s stream-health feedback without assuming that a successful preview guarantees uninterrupted long-term operation.
Set the OBS output for YouTube 4K/60
YouTube’s current encoder guidance recommends the following video bitrates for 4K/2160p at 60 fps. These are ingestion recommendations, not guarantees that a specific computer or connection can sustain the broadcast. Choose the line that matches the codec your encoder actually uses; H.264 and AV1/H.265 are not interchangeable at the same bitrate.

| Video codec | YouTube-recommended bitrate at 4K/60 | Stated minimum |
|---|---|---|
| AV1 or H.265 (HEVC) | 35 Mbps | 10 Mbps |
| H.264 | 50 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
These values come from YouTube’s live encoder settings guidance, accessed October 3, 2026. The guide also recommends CBR, a 2-second keyframe interval (not exceeding 4 seconds), and up to 60 fps.
Configure and verify the output
- In OBS, open Settings > Video. Set Base (Canvas) Resolution and Output (Scaled) Resolution to 3840×2160 if your source and hardware support that output. Set Common FPS Values to 60.
- Open Settings > Output and use Advanced output mode if needed to expose encoder controls. Select a video encoder and codec supported by your hardware and YouTube workflow. Set the rate control to CBR, the bitrate to YouTube’s recommendation for that codec, and the keyframe interval to 2 seconds. Do not exceed 4 seconds.
- In the audio output settings, select a sample rate and track appropriate for your files and workflow; confirm the selected track is the one sent to YouTube. The cited YouTube settings guidance does not specify a particular audio bitrate here, so avoid treating an unsupported value as a platform requirement.
- Check that your machine can encode the selected resolution, frame rate, and codec without overload. An output setting alone cannot make an underpowered encoder or unstable connection sustain 4K/60.
YouTube detects the encoder’s resolution and frame rate automatically by default. Its guidance says 4K/2160p at 60 fps does not offer the low-latency option and is optimized for normal latency. Review the current YouTube encoder settings if options or recommendations have changed.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live and start the broadcast
- Open YouTube Studio and go to Create > Go live. Create or schedule the stream in Live Control Room.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream. Select YouTube if you are connecting through the service sign-in flow. If configuring a custom server, enter YouTube’s stream URL and copy the stream key from Live Control Room into the matching OBS field. Treat the key like a password: anyone who has it may be able to broadcast to your stream.
- Apply the settings and click Start Streaming in OBS. Wait for the incoming signal and preview in Live Control Room; check video, audio, and stream health before making the broadcast public.
- When the preview is correct, click Go live in Live Control Room. To end, stop the broadcast in YouTube/OBS and confirm it has finished in Live Control Room.
YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours are automatically archived in its encoder setup guide. Do not rely on an archive as a substitute for keeping a separate copy of source files.

Test bandwidth and watch stream health
Run an upload-speed test and compare sustained upload capacity with the selected video bitrate, leaving room for audio and normal network variation. YouTube explicitly recommends a speed test; a brief peak reading is not proof that the connection will hold for a long broadcast. Before going live, test with representative video motion and audio, then monitor OBS’s stats and YouTube’s stream-health indicators while live.
- If the stream reports dropped frames from network congestion, lower the bitrate or improve the upload connection; do not keep a 4K/60 target at any cost.
- If OBS reports rendering or encoding overload, reduce output demands or use an encoder your hardware can sustain.
- If YouTube receives a different resolution or frame rate than intended, check OBS Video settings and confirm the active encoder output.
- If audio cuts, overlaps, or leaves a pause between songs, inspect the source files and playlist transitions in a rehearsal. Looping controls replay, not gapless playback.
Copyright and monetization risks for Marathi songs
The language and genre do not change the rights requirements. YouTube’s livestream terms say the broadcaster represents that they have the rights needed for worldwide exploitation of live content on Google services, including music licensing rights from artists, labels, publishers, and other royalty participants. A personal subscription, attribution, owning a physical copy, or finding a track on a video or music service is not evidence by itself that you may rebroadcast it live.
YouTube’s live restrictions guidance says a detected third-party match may cause a placeholder and warning, then interruption or termination if the content continues. A strike can also terminate a stream. If a rights holder has licensed use, ask them whether your channel needs to be allowlisted in Content ID; YouTube notes that a stream may still be interrupted without allowlisting even if you have a license or limit territories.

Troubleshooting common OBS and YouTube Live problems
The VLC Video source does not appear
OBS requires VLC for this source type. Install VLC, then reopen OBS and check Sources > + again. Use Media Source with one file if you do not need a playlist.
The song stops instead of repeating
Open the Media Source properties and confirm Loop is checked. For multiple files, verify the VLC Video source has a playlist and Loop Playlist enabled.
YouTube shows no preview or no incoming signal
Confirm OBS is streaming, the selected YouTube account and scheduled stream match, and the stream URL/key were copied correctly. If you regenerate the key in YouTube, update OBS with the new one. Wait for Live Control Room to detect the feed before clicking Go live.

Compare actual sustained upload capacity with the chosen bitrate, check OBS dropped-frame and encoder statistics, and run another representative test. Reduce the bitrate or output demands if the connection or encoder cannot hold the configured 4K/60 stream.
The stream is interrupted after music is detected
Stop and resolve the rights issue rather than repeatedly restarting with the same material. Check YouTube’s restriction notice, confirm the precise live-stream rights with the rights holder, and ask about Content ID allowlisting where applicable. A license alone may not prevent an interruption if the channel is not allowlisted.
