OBS says dropped frames and intermittent disconnections point to an unstable connection between your computer and the stream ingest server. Check YouTube and OBS first, then compare bitrate, ingest choice, and wired versus Wi-Fi connections one change at a time. If the outbound connection still drops, give your ISP timestamps and test results rather than guessing at a provider-specific fix.
What an OBS reconnect loop tells you—and what it doesn’t
OBS sends the stream directly from your computer to the streaming service; it does not route it through an OBS-operated streaming server. A disconnect can therefore involve the computer, local network, ISP route, or YouTube ingest path. OBS says dropped frames occur when the connection to the remote server is unstable or cannot sustain the selected bitrate, and enough dropped frames can disconnect a stream. Its guide says dropped frames are extremely unlikely to be caused by OBS itself: OBS connection troubleshooting and how OBS works.
The reviewed guidance does not establish a Tata Play Fiber-specific cause or a proven provider-only OBS setting. Do not assume CGNAT, IPv6, throttling, or a local outage without evidence from your own connection. Treat the steps below as a way to narrow down where the instability occurs, not as a diagnosis of Tata Play Fiber.
1. Capture useful evidence before changing settings
During the next affected session, note the time and duration of each disconnect. In OBS, open View → Stats and note whether the network-dropped frames count rises. Also record whether other internet use on the same computer stalls at the same time.

Save the OBS log for the affected session. Avoid interpreting a particular log line as proof of a cause unless you have the log in hand. A record of the symptom before changes gives you a useful baseline and helps you compare later tests.
2. Check YouTube and the encoder first
- Verify the stream key. In YouTube Studio, open the Live Control Room and check that the selected stream key matches the one configured in OBS. If you update the key in YouTube, update it in OBS too. YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends checking the key and updating third-party encoder software when needed: YouTube: encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.
- Check OBS and the outgoing picture and sound. Make sure OBS is current, then confirm the stream is being encoded and looks and sounds healthy in OBS. Check the YouTube live dashboard for reported errors as well.
- Separate encoder trouble from connection trouble. If OBS output looks healthy but the stream still disconnects, test the outbound internet connection. YouTube advises contacting your ISP if that test identifies connection problems.
3. Change OBS network settings one at a time
Keep the rest of your setup unchanged while testing each option. Record the setting and result, and revert a test that makes no difference.
Lower the video bitrate temporarily
OBS suggests using 75% of your total upload speed as a starting point while troubleshooting. This is a general OBS troubleshooting recommendation, not a guaranteed Tata Play Fiber threshold or a YouTube-specific maximum. If a lower bitrate stops the drops, your connection may not be sustaining the original rate consistently; it does not, by itself, identify whether the cause is inside your home or on the route to YouTube. Try another available ingest choice
If OBS offers another stream server or ingest choice, test it and compare the result. A change that helps can point to a route or ingest-specific difference, but it does not establish that Tata Play Fiber caused the original problem.

In OBS, go to Settings → Advanced → Network → Bind to IP and select Default. This avoids forcing OBS to use an unintended network interface or address.
Test IPv4 only, then restore the default if it does not help
In Settings → Advanced → Network, try IP Family → IPv4 Only as a diagnostic. If there is no improvement, restore the default IPv4-and-IPv6 behavior. This is a test, not a recommendation to disable IPv6 permanently.

On Windows, test network optimizations and TCP pacing
OBS notes that some users report improvement when they enable Enable network optimizations and Enable TCP pacing. Treat both as experiments, not guaranteed fixes; test one at a time and compare the result.
Use dynamic bitrate only as a fallback
Dynamic bitrate can reduce the video bitrate when the connection is congested, which may help keep a stream connected. OBS cautions that it lowers picture quality and does not fix the underlying connection problem. Use it as a stopgap if you cannot resolve the cause immediately, not as evidence that the line is healthy.

- Compare Ethernet with Wi-Fi. If you stream over Wi-Fi, test a wired connection if possible. A Cat6 Ethernet cable is an optional way to make this comparison or replace a suspect cable; it is not a guaranteed fix. OBS recommends wired streaming where possible.
- Check VPN and security software. Temporarily test whether a VPN, firewall/security product, or bundled network-prioritization software is interfering with OBS. Restore security protections afterward; if a security product is the cause, add an appropriate OBS exception rather than leaving protection disabled.
- Restart the modem/router. Then repeat the same stream test and note whether the result changes.
- Check drivers and hardware only after simpler tests. If the problem persists, check network drivers and local hardware. OBS recommends contacting the ISP before replacing equipment when you are unsure whether it is faulty.
For a useful comparison, change only one factor at a time: Wi-Fi versus Ethernet, the original versus a reduced bitrate, one ingest choice versus another, or this computer versus another device or network where practical. Testing another service can help show whether a problem is service-specific, but OBS cautions that it will not solve a connection issue limited to one streaming service.

5. When and how to contact Tata Play Fiber support
If YouTube and OBS checks are sound and local comparisons still show unstable outbound connectivity, contact your ISP. YouTube directs users with internet connection problems to their ISP, and OBS notes that routes and congestion may be outside a streamer’s control. Tata Play Fiber’s surfaced FAQ information is general rather than an OBS-specific finding, so confirm the provider’s current support process directly.
Give support specific evidence rather than only saying that OBS reconnects:
- Dates and exact times of drops, with their duration and frequency.
- Whether the problem occurs on Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or both.
- Whether other services or devices remain connected during the same period.
- The OBS log and Stats observations for the affected session.
- The bitrate and ingest choice used, plus the outcome after testing alternatives.
- Results of outbound-connection tests, if you ran them.
These details help distinguish a local wireless issue from a broader connection or route problem. They do not, by themselves, prove a provider fault.
