The mini PC must stay awake and connected, and you should monitor the stream: a single all-day broadcast is not guaranteed to become a YouTube replay, because streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured.
Before you start: check YouTube Live access
For encoder streaming, YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. You must also be at least 16. Enable livestreaming in YouTube Studio before your planned start; first-time activation can take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s livestreaming start requirements and encoder setup guidance.
- A Windows mini PC with OBS Studio installed and enough storage for any local recording you plan to keep.
- A stable internet connection with upload capacity reserved for the stream.
- A kirtan recording and visual material you have the rights to use in a livestream.
- Access to YouTube Studio and the ability to keep the mini PC powered, awake and connected.
Build the looping scene in OBS
Choose the audio and visual
Create a scene with a still image or a looping visual and the kirtan audio. A static devotional image is sufficient for a radio-style stream; a camera and elaborate graphics are optional. OBS is free and open-source. Its source and loop controls can differ by installed version, so verify the controls in your OBS build and test the loop before going live rather than relying on an unverified menu path.
Check that the audio repeats cleanly and that the visual behaves as intended. If you combine tracks, make sure transitions do not introduce silence, clipping or abrupt cuts that you do not want listeners to hear.

Clear rights for the whole broadcast
Confirm permission for the specific recording and performance, as well as any image, video or other visual material. A devotional subject, attribution, or a license by itself does not ensure YouTube’s automated systems will leave a stream uninterrupted. YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches and may interrupt or terminate a broadcast if copyrighted content remains after a warning. Even licensed material can be interrupted if the rights holder has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist. Read YouTube’s guidance on copyrighted content in live streams.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- Open YouTube Studio and enter the Live Control Room. Create or schedule an encoder stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key shown for that broadcast.
- In OBS, open the stream settings and enter YouTube as the service, then paste in the stream URL and key. YouTube describes the key as the credential/address the encoder uses to send an accepted feed. Keep it private: anyone with access to it may be able to send video to your broadcast.
- Start the OBS encoder and check the Live Control Room preview before making the stream public. Confirm the intended audio and image reach the watch page.
Check YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop settings when scheduling. They determine whether the broadcast starts or ends automatically when the encoder starts or stops; do not assume the schedule alone controls those behaviors. See YouTube’s encoder stream settings and streaming tips.

Set stream quality and protect network headroom
Choose resolution and bitrate that your mini PC and connection can sustain continuously. A speed test is only a snapshot: other household traffic and ISP congestion can reduce available upload capacity while you stream. Do not set the OBS bitrate at the full speed-test result.
- OBS suggests using 75% of total upload speed as a starting point for video bitrate.
- YouTube recommends keeping about 20% upload bandwidth headroom.
- These are starting recommendations, not guarantees. If OBS reports dropped frames or the stream disconnects, lower the bitrate or reduce other network use and test again.
- Use Ethernet between the mini PC and router if practical. OBS notes that Wi-Fi can be unstable and recommends a wired connection for streaming reliability.

Keep the mini PC running continuously
Configure Windows and the device so the mini PC does not sleep during the broadcast. Windows power labels and available settings vary by version and hardware, so confirm the applicable controls on your own Windows 10 or 11 device rather than following a generic click path. Plan updates and restarts for a maintenance window, and verify that the system returns to the intended state afterward.
Do not assume OBS will recover unattended after a reboot. A continuous stream depends on the computer, OBS, power and network remaining available; unattended relaunch and restoration of the correct broadcast are not established by the platform and OBS guidance cited here. If you cannot monitor the PC, make a recovery plan and test it before relying on the stream.

Test, monitor and plan for replays
Run an unlisted test
Before publishing, run an unlisted stream long enough to check the actual loop and connection. Confirm that the watch page receives the feed, the audio is audible, the visual is correct, and OBS is not dropping frames. YouTube recommends monitoring audio and video quality and checking that local archive files are intact and growing as expected; see its streaming tips.
Do not count on one all-day replay
YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be archived automatically, but streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. DVR rewind may also be limited or unavailable on very long streams. If a replay matters, schedule shorter sessions and make a local recording backup; verify the resulting file instead of assuming the archive succeeded. See YouTube’s archive guidance and DVR guidance.

Troubleshooting common problems
OBS shows dropped frames or disconnects
- Likely cause: unstable Wi-Fi, competing network traffic, or a bitrate above the available upload capacity.
- Try: use Ethernet if possible, pause other uploads, lower OBS bitrate, and rerun an unlisted test. Keep headroom rather than treating a speed test as guaranteed capacity.
The stream does not appear in YouTube
- Likely cause: live access is not enabled, the stream URL or key is incorrect, or the encoder has not started sending a feed.
- Try: confirm channel eligibility and activation in YouTube Studio, recheck the URL and key for the scheduled broadcast, and inspect the Live Control Room preview. If you suspect the key was exposed, replace it in YouTube and update OBS.
Audio or visuals stop looping as expected
- Likely cause: source loop settings or media behavior differs in the installed OBS version.
- Try: inspect the source’s controls in your OBS build and test the full sequence before broadcasting publicly. Confirm that the audio file itself plays through its ending and restart.
The mini PC stops streaming after a while
- Likely cause: sleep, a restart, power loss, or network interruption.
- Try: review the device’s sleep and update schedule, keep it on stable power, and check whether OBS and the broadcast resume after a controlled test restart. Do not rely on unattended recovery until you have verified it on your own setup.
The livestream is interrupted for copyright
- Likely cause: a third-party match or missing Content ID allowlisting despite a license.
- Try: verify rights for the recording, performance and visuals, then ask the rights holder whether your channel must be allowlisted. Attribution alone is not permission.
What to budget for the local setup
The mini PC approach uses hardware you already own, but it requires ongoing electricity, an available network connection and time for monitoring and maintenance. Actual power cost depends on the device and local electricity rate; no single cost estimate applies to every setup. Compare that ongoing overhead with the value you place on direct control and having the stream run from your own equipment.
