On desktop, open YouTube Studio, go to Content, filter by Claims, then check the archived stream’s Restrictions column and select See details.
Find the claim on your livestream archive
- Confirm the stream ended and an archive exists. YouTube says claims on archived livestreams are made after the stream is complete, if you choose to archive the video. Without an archive, there is no archived video to inspect through this workflow. See YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
- Open YouTube Studio on desktop. Select Content, then use the filter bar to choose Claims.
- Locate the archived stream. In its Restrictions column, hover over Claims and select See details.
- Identify what was claimed and who claimed it. In the claim details, go to Content used and select See details for claimant information. YouTube also says it emails creators when a video receives a claim. The desktop instructions are in YouTube’s computer guide to copyright claims.
Find it in the YouTube Studio Android app
Open the Studio app, tap Content, select the video with a copyright restriction, then open Restrictions > Review issues and select the claim. Labels can vary by app version; use the desktop path above if you cannot find the same options.
Why a claim may not show while the stream is live
An archived-video Content ID claim and real-time live Content ID matching are separate processes. YouTube says an archived-stream claim is made after the stream ends if the video is archived. By contrast, real-time matching is a feature for eligible partners with YouTube Studio Content Manager access, used to find copies of their own live streams. YouTube states that this live matching process creates no claims; it can warn a streamer and may lead to the stream being replaced or interrupted. See YouTube’s documentation on Content ID matching on live streams.
So a live warning, placeholder image, interruption, or termination does not by itself establish that a Content ID claim exists on the eventual archive. Live matching is also not a substitute for checking an archived video’s Restrictions entry.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
If the archive exists but no claim appears
- Check that you are viewing the archived video. The post-stream claim workflow applies to the archive, not simply to the live session while it is underway.
- Recheck the Claims filter and Restrictions column. Open any claim details before deciding what to do.
- Look for YouTube’s email notification. Compare the notice with the video’s status in Studio.
- Do not assume a fixed processing time. YouTube’s cited guidance does not promise a specific delay or describe a separate missing-claim queue for ordinary creators. If a notice and Studio continue to conflict, use Creator Support if it is available to your channel.
- Do not dispute a claim just because it is hard to locate. First verify the claimant, the content identified, and the restriction. An unfamiliar claimant name alone does not prove a claim is invalid.
If the livestream stopped unexpectedly, check the warning shown by YouTube and your Studio dashboard for any strike status. A live scan can warn, replace the stream with a placeholder, or interrupt or terminate it; that event is distinct from a claim on an archived video.
Understand the restriction before taking action
A Content ID claim applies a rights holder’s policy. Depending on the policy, the video may be blocked, monetized, or tracked, and the result can differ by country or region. A claim is not the same as a copyright takedown request or a copyright strike. YouTube says claims usually do not affect the channel or account, although a strike connected with an active or archived livestream may disable live-streaming access. For the distinctions, see YouTube’s copyright-claim guide and live-stream copyright guidance.

If you decide to edit the claimed archive
Review the claim details first, then choose an edit that addresses the identified material. YouTube lists trimming the claimed segment, replacing claimed audio with Audio Library music, or erasing claimed audio as possible ways to clear a claim when the edit succeeds. None is guaranteed to work for every claim. See YouTube’s instructions for removing copyright-claimed content and its guide to reviewing and taking action on claim issues.
Save a copy or otherwise preserve anything you may need before editing. Since June 2025, saved changes made in YouTube Studio Editor cannot be undone using Revert to original, according to YouTube Help.
