To fix a BGMI replay that looks wrong on YouTube Live, match OBS’s canvas and output to the frame you want, then select the replay source and choose Edit → Transform → Fit to Screen. For a typical landscape stream, use matching 16:9 resolutions such as 1920×1080 or 1280×720. Fit preserves the replay’s proportions; if its aspect ratio differs from the canvas, bars or empty space may remain. Crop and zoom to fill the frame only if you are willing to lose some gameplay at the edges.
Check the OBS canvas and output resolution
In OBS, open Settings → Video. These two settings control different things:
- Base (Canvas) Resolution is the workspace where you arrange sources in a scene.
- Output (Scaled) Resolution is the resolution sent to the stream or recording.
For a conventional landscape YouTube Live layout, set both to the same 16:9 resolution. OBS lists 1920×1080 and 1280×720 as examples; 3840×2160 is another 16:9 example, not a guarantee that your hardware or connection can stream it reliably. The replay itself does not have to be the same resolution as the output, but its shape and the framing you want matter.
If you changed the Base (Canvas) Resolution, check the position and size of every scene source afterward: changing the canvas can require sources to be realigned. Changing only Output (Scaled) Resolution does not have that effect. Preview the scene before going live.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Fit the BGMI replay to the scene
- Add or select the replay source. If the replay is a video file, add it as a Media Source. Select that source in the preview or Sources list.
- Reset an accidental transform if needed. Choose Edit → Transform → Reset Transform (Ctrl-R on Windows; Cmd-R on macOS).
- Fit the source to the canvas. Choose Edit → Transform → Fit to Screen (Ctrl-F on Windows; Cmd-F on macOS).
- Check the preview. Confirm the replay is positioned as intended and that important gameplay is visible. If you changed the canvas resolution, recheck other sources such as overlays and text too.
Fit to Screen scales the replay while preserving its proportions. If the replay and canvas have different aspect ratios, it cannot both show the whole image and fill every part of the canvas without changing the image shape. That is why a correctly fitted source can still leave bars or unused space.
Choose between bars, cropping, and stretching
| Method | Whole replay visible? | Fills the frame? | Proportions correct? | Gameplay lost |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fit or letterbox | Yes | Not necessarily; bars or empty space may remain | Yes | None |
| Crop or zoom | No, edges fall outside the canvas | Yes, when scaled and cropped to suit | Yes | Some edge content |
| Stretch | Yes | Yes | No; the image is warped | None, but the picture is distorted |
Keep the complete replay
Use Fit to Screen and accept bars or empty canvas if the replay’s shape does not match the scene. You can make the unused area intentional with a background, overlays, or other scene elements. This is the option to choose when showing every part of the VOD matters more than edge-to-edge gameplay.

Fill the canvas by cropping
Scale the replay up until it covers the canvas, then crop the overflow. In OBS, hold Alt while dragging a source edge to crop it on Windows or macOS. Inspect the preview closely: cropping may remove HUD information, the kill feed, or action near the edges. You can also use the source’s transform controls to adjust its size and position.
Avoid stretching to hide bars
Stretching can fill the frame while retaining all of the source, but it changes the image’s proportions. Players, map features, and other gameplay elements may look unnaturally wide or narrow. OBS describes stretching as rarely advisable when fitting content with a mismatched aspect ratio.

If the replay still looks wrong
- The image is stretched or squashed: Select the replay and use Fit to Screen. Check that you did not use Stretch to Screen or alter the source’s width and height independently.
- Bars or empty space remain: Compare the replay’s shape with the canvas. Keep the whole image and use a background, or crop and zoom if filling the frame matters more.
- The replay is cut off: Reset the transform with Ctrl-R on Windows or Cmd-R on macOS, then fit it again. If you intentionally cropped it, reduce the crop or zoom until the important gameplay is visible.
- Other scene elements moved after a resolution change: Reposition or resize sources after changing Base (Canvas) Resolution. Changing Output (Scaled) Resolution alone does not require that realignment.
- The preview looks correct but you have not checked the live result: Test the scene before the stream. OBS’s canvas and output settings determine the scene layout and stream output; check YouTube’s current live encoder guidance for encoder settings rather than assuming aspect-ratio changes fix bitrate or connection problems.
Or let it run in the cloud
