You also need an audiovisual output, an eligible YouTube channel, and a plan for keeping the encoder running and handling interruptions. The station’s feed format and permissions are not specified here, so check both before choosing an encoder or starting a broadcast.
Before you start: confirm permission and feed details
Get the station’s written authorization
Technical access to an internet radio feed does not establish permission to rebroadcast it. Ask the station and relevant rights holders whether the authorization covers retransmission on YouTube, the music and other material in the stream, your intended territories, and any planned monetization. Do not assume that a licence for the station’s original internet broadcast also covers a second transmission to YouTube.
Indian copyright law defines broadcast to include rebroadcast. Section 31D and the Copyright Rules describe a statutory-licensing route for certain broadcasting uses, subject to conditions such as notice and royalties; those provisions do not determine whether this particular channel or use is covered. For a specific rights decision, confirm the rights chain with the station and seek qualified legal advice for the relevant jurisdictions. See the Copyright Act, 1957 and the Copyright Rules, 2013.
Ask for the technical particulars
Obtain the station’s authorized feed URL and ask what format it uses, whether access credentials or an allowlist are needed, and whether the feed is intended for continuous external relay. These details determine whether your encoder can accept the feed directly or whether an intermediate audio-routing or conversion step is needed. No specific Assamese station, endpoint, audio codec, licence, or stream format is established here.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check YouTube Live eligibility
YouTube Help says the channel must be verified and must not have had live-stream restrictions in the previous 90 days. The same Help page lists limits of 10 active streams per channel and three active streams per stream key. These are YouTube’s published account and capacity conditions; check the current live-streaming eligibility and limits before setup because platform rules can change.
Set up an encoder and go live
- Choose an encoder. YouTube supports streaming software as well as standalone hardware encoders. Select one that can accept the station’s authorized feed and produce an audiovisual live output. The correct input settings depend on the station’s actual feed, which must be confirmed with its operator.
- Create or select the stream in YouTube Studio. Open YouTube Studio, enter the Live Control Room, and create a live stream or select the stream you intend to use. Follow the stream workflow shown there.
- Copy the connection details into the encoder. In the encoder, set the server field to YouTube’s Live server URL and enter the stream key shown in the Live Control Room. YouTube’s instruction is direct: “To start streaming, enter your YouTube Live server URL and stream key into your encoder.” Keep the key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to that stream.
- Supply a video picture as well as audio. YouTube Live is an audiovisual output. A static station image, visualizer, or other visual treatment is an implementation choice, not a radio-specific requirement established by YouTube’s encoder instructions. Use imagery you have the right to display, and make sure it is actually included in the encoder output.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Begin sending the feed, then confirm the incoming stream and audio/video preview in Live Control Room. Go live using the controls for the selected stream workflow, and verify the public watch page from a separate device or browser.
- Keep an operator’s eye on continuity. Arrange a way to notice a silent feed, dropped connection, encoder shutdown, or YouTube status change. Decide who can restart the encoder, how the stream key will be stored, and how handoffs or maintenance will be handled. These are operational measures, not a guarantee of uninterrupted service.
YouTube’s official encoder setup guide covers the connection workflow and lists both software and hardware options. It names the AJA HELO Plus as a hardware encoder, but that listing does not make dedicated hardware necessary or establish its suitability for an unknown station feed.

Plan continuous operation and recordings separately
A continuously available channel and a saved recording are different goals. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; its cited guidance does not establish automatic archiving for streams lasting longer than that. If you need a replay, verify current YouTube behavior and arrange a recording or transition plan rather than relying on a longer event being archived as one video.
The YouTube Live API documents a recurring-broadcast arrangement where multiple liveBroadcast resources can be bound to one liveStream resource for encoder settings; in that arrangement, only one event is live at a time. This can help organize repeat broadcasts, but it does not promise an indefinite single live event or define the best setup for every continuous radio channel. See the YouTube Live Streaming API documentation.

Choose an operating approach
| Approach | What it means | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| Software encoder | Streaming software sends the authorized feed to YouTube using the server URL and stream key. | Confirm that it can accept the station feed and remain running on the chosen computer; plan power, network, monitoring, and restart procedures. |
| Standalone hardware encoder | A dedicated device sends the stream to YouTube. YouTube lists the AJA HELO Plus as an example. | Check input compatibility with the actual feed and the device’s current availability and cost. YouTube’s listing does not establish suitability for this use case. |
The official materials establish these encoder categories, not comparative reliability, station-specific compatibility, or prices. Choose based on the feed you receive and whether you can supervise the equipment during outages.
Common problems and practical checks
- YouTube does not accept the stream: confirm the channel meets the verification and restriction requirements, and that the server URL and stream key came from the selected Live Control Room stream.
- The encoder connects but there is no sound: check that the authorized feed is reachable, that the encoder is using an input it supports, and that the audio is present in its output preview. Ask the station for the feed format and access requirements before changing settings blindly.
- Audio is present but the live output has no picture: check that the encoder is producing a video signal, even if the chosen visual is a static image. The stream needs an audiovisual output.
- The broadcast stops unexpectedly: check the encoder’s running state, computer or device power, network connection, feed availability, and YouTube status. Define who is responsible for restarting it and for confirming that the public stream has resumed.
- A stream key may have been exposed: treat it as compromised and replace or reset it through the YouTube stream controls, then update the encoder. Do not publish the key in a web page, shared document, or screenshot.
- A long broadcast has no complete replay: do not assume YouTube automatically archives streams of 12 hours or more. Use a verified recording or event-transition plan if preserving the program matters.
Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a YouTube-only cloud service for keeping uploaded videos live; it is not a way to relay a live camera or an arbitrary station feed. If you have the rights to the audio and can prepare an audiovisual recording, upload it, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; uploaded content streams as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. Learn more at StreamNeo, or start the free first day.
