To loop a Malayalam video in OBS and stream it to YouTube, add it as a Media Source, enable Loop, then choose an encoder bitrate that matches your resolution, frame rate, and upload capacity. For speech, use OBS audio filters only to address an audible problem, and test the full stream: there is no separate Malayalam-specific bitrate or codec setting.
Set up the video loop in OBS
Loop one video file
- In OBS, choose or create the scene for your stream. In the Sources panel, select + and choose Media Source.
- Name the source if prompted, then select Local File and browse to the video.
- Enable Loop. OBS restarts the file when playback completes; Loop is off by default.
- Check Restart playback when source becomes active and Show nothing when playback ends only if those behaviors suit your scene switching and end-of-file setup. They are separate from Loop.
OBS lists formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF, and WebM. The source and playback behavior are documented in the OBS Media Sources guide.
Loop a playlist
For multiple files, add a VLC Video source, add the files to its playlist, and use Loop Playlist. OBS says Loop Playlist is enabled by default. VLC must be installed; 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. A Media Source is simpler for one file, while VLC Video adds playlist support and a VLC dependency.
Choose YouTube-compatible video settings
Use the YouTube encoder recommendations for the codec, resolution, and frame rate you actually plan to send. For a common H.264 setup, YouTube’s current guidance gives these recommended video-bitrate ranges:
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Output | YouTube-recommended H.264 video bitrate |
|---|---|
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5–14 Mbps |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 6–17 Mbps |
These are YouTube recommendations, not guarantees of image quality or Malayalam speech intelligibility. Choose a bitrate your upload connection can sustain consistently; a higher setting is not helpful if the connection cannot carry it reliably. If you use HEVC or AV1, consult the codec-specific guidance rather than reusing H.264 figures.
Encoder settings to check
- Protocol: YouTube recommends RTMPS.
- Rate control: Use CBR.
- Keyframes: Set a 2-second interval; do not exceed 4 seconds.
- Frame rate: YouTube supports up to 60 fps. Match OBS to the source and the connection instead of upscaling low-resolution footage without a reason.
- Video format: Use progressive scan, square pixels, and Rec. 709 for SDR, as specified in YouTube’s guidance.
- Stereo audio: YouTube supports AAC or MP3 and recommends 44.1 kHz at 128 kbps.
Exact menu labels can depend on the encoder and OBS version. The OBS overview covers output resolution, frame rate, video and audio bitrate, and testing; it advises considering upload speed and service limits. See the YouTube live encoder settings and OBS Studio overview.

Make Malayalam speech clearer with targeted audio filters
Apply filters to the audio source carrying the video’s sound, then compare the result with the unfiltered original. The right filter depends on what you hear; stacking filters by default can make speech worse.
For mild, steady background noise
Try Noise Suppression for mild fan, room, or white noise. OBS describes RNNoise as higher quality but more CPU-intensive than Speex, and warns that strong Speex suppression can distort voice. The filter is generally ineffective in a very loud room. Listen to actual Malayalam speech with suppression on and off; if consonants or word endings become less distinct, reduce or remove it. See the OBS Noise Suppression filter guide.

For uneven loudness or occasional peaks
Use a Compressor when speech has occasional loud peaks compared with its normal level. It reduces audio above its threshold; output gain can raise the average level afterward. OBS places compression near the beginning of a filter chain. Its default values are not guaranteed to suit your file, so listen for pumping or unnatural changes in level.
For low-level noise between phrases
An Expander can reduce quiet background sounds between phrases. Set its threshold carefully: too much expansion can cut off quiet syllables or word endings. OBS places the expander after compression or other effects and before the limiter.

To control clipping peaks
Place a Limiter last in the filter chain to constrain peaks and help prevent clipping or distortion. Check that it catches peaks without leaving the speech too quiet. OBS describes these filters and their order in its Filters Guide and Limiter guide.
Filters cannot be assumed to restore speech that is already muffled, clipped, distorted, or masked in the video file. If the original is hard to understand, inspect or re-render its audio rather than applying stronger suppression blindly.

Test the loop and the complete stream
- Play a representative speech passage and listen for intelligibility, clipping, and abrupt changes in loudness. Check the audio meter and ensure the video’s audio is not unintentionally doubled by desktop audio.
- Listen on headphones and a phone or small speaker. Different playback devices can reveal speech that is technically audible but difficult to follow.
- Watch and listen through the end of the video and into the restart. Confirm the file returns to its beginning and check for a gap, black frame, or cut-off word at the loop boundary.
- Record locally or run a test stream using audio and movement similar to the planned broadcast. YouTube recommends testing representative content and monitoring stream health.
- Check YouTube stream health and confirm the selected bitrate remains stable on the actual upload connection before relying on a long-running stream.
OBS also recommends testing the complete setup before going live. These checks help distinguish a source or filter problem from an ingest or connection problem.
Troubleshooting common problems
- The file stops at the end: Reopen the Media Source properties and enable Loop. For a playlist, check Loop Playlist on the VLC Video source.
- A playlist will not play: Confirm VLC is installed and matches OBS’s architecture; 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.
- The stream buffers or loses stability: Reduce the output bitrate to a level the upload connection can sustain, then check YouTube’s stream health. Do not choose a value solely because it is at the top of the recommended range.
- Speech sounds watery or distorted after suppression: Reduce or disable Noise Suppression and compare again. Strong suppression can distort voice.
- Quiet syllables disappear: Ease the Expander threshold or disable the expander; an aggressive setting can cut off speech.
- Peaks distort: Check the source level and filter chain, then use a limiter last to constrain peaks. A limiter does not repair distortion already present in the file.
- Words are unclear even with filters off: Inspect or re-render the source audio. The documented OBS filters do not establish that lost intelligibility can be restored.
- The loop cuts off a word or shows a gap: Review the file’s beginning and end and test the transition. A source loop repeats the file; it does not smooth a poorly edited boundary.
Copyright and YouTube live eligibility
Before looping a video publicly, make sure you have the necessary rights to its video and audio. Encoding settings do not grant permission to stream copyrighted material. YouTube’s ingest recommendations do not determine whether a channel or video complies with YouTube policies, so check the current rules that apply to your content and account before going live.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a YouTube loop without keeping OBS and a computer running at home, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud. Upload the video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting a camera feed.
- Nothing has to stay on at home; the cloud keeps the stream running.
- Your video streams as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers.
- StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
- The first day is free, with no card required; one free day is available per account.
Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB of storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and support from the StreamNeo team. The product is the same across plans; only the billing period changes.
