You can use OBS to send a prepared Malayalam nursery-rhyme program to YouTube Live, but a single broadcast running for 24 hours is not a reliable way to preserve its archive: YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. For an archive you can keep, plan shorter sessions and record locally. Before going live, confirm your channel is eligible, clear the rights to every song and visual, and set the audience accurately if the stream is made for children.
What you need before you start
OBS acts as the encoder: it sends your prepared video and audio to YouTube Live. You need a suitable computer, a YouTube channel eligible to stream, the video and audio files for your program, and the rights to use those files in a live stream and any resulting archive. You do not need a camera or microphone for a program made entirely from prepared animation and audio.
- Channel eligibility: YouTube’s live-streaming guidance says the channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restriction during the preceding 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. Encoder streaming is a supported method.
- Program files: Assemble the videos and audio you intend to play. Test that they play correctly on the computer before scheduling a broadcast.
- Computer and connection: Use equipment that can play the program and run OBS while sending a stable feed. YouTube says expensive equipment is not required; no particular computer specification or upload-speed target is established here.
- Rights: Confirm permission for the specific lyrics or composition, arrangement, sound recording, and artwork or animation used. A traditional melody does not automatically clear a modern arrangement, recording, or visual.
Plan the broadcast around YouTube’s archive limit
“24/7” describes the goal, not a YouTube guarantee. YouTube may automatically archive streams shorter than 12 hours, but says that if a stream exceeds 12 hours, it may not be captured at all. If keeping a dependable recording matters, do not rely on one uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast as your only copy.

For an archive you control, start a local recording and confirm that the file is growing and can be played back. YouTube recommends checking local archive file integrity and growth during an encoder event. Decide in YouTube Studio whether each YouTube archive should be public, unlisted, or private based on your distribution plan.

Set up the YouTube broadcast and OBS
YouTube recommends setting up an encoder event at least two hours ahead, checking its preview, and monitoring both audio and video quality. The following sequence uses YouTube Studio and OBS without assuming that OBS menu labels or encoding recommendations are identical across versions and computers.
- Check eligibility in YouTube Studio. Confirm that the channel is verified and has no live-stream restriction in the preceding 90 days. Make sure the person streaming meets YouTube’s stated minimum age of 16.
- Create or schedule the event in YouTube Studio. In the Live Control Room, create or manage the broadcast and choose the encoder route. Set the event details and audience designation carefully. If you schedule a program, leave time before its start to configure and test the encoder.
- Connect OBS to the YouTube event. Use the stream connection details provided by YouTube for the event. In OBS, configure the stream destination and enter or select the correct stream key using the controls available in your installed version. Do not share the key: anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to your channel. If you suspect it was exposed, replace or reset it through YouTube Studio and update OBS.
- Choose output settings that your setup can sustain. Set the video format, resolution, frame rate, and encoder output in OBS to match the source material and what your computer and upload connection can reliably send. Choose bitrate and keyframe settings using current YouTube encoder guidance and the settings available in your OBS version; there is no single bitrate or resolution that is established for every computer, connection, and source by the guidance summarized here.
- Prepare the program in OBS. Add the prepared video as a source, arrange the visible content in the preview, and check that its audio is routed into the stream. If the program contains multiple clips, test the sequence and transitions before the event. Do not leave an unintended desktop, blank scene, or unrelated audio in the output.
- Start the encoder and inspect YouTube’s preview. Start streaming from OBS early enough for YouTube to receive the signal. In the Live Control Room, confirm that the expected image and sound appear before the public start. Correct a wrong source, silent audio, or incorrect event connection before proceeding.
- Monitor the live session. Check audio and picture throughout the event, not only at startup. Confirm that the local recording file is growing and can be opened. For a long-running schedule, plan how each session ends and the next begins; a seamless handoff is not guaranteed.
- End the session deliberately. Stop the broadcast in OBS and confirm its status in YouTube Studio. Verify the local file and decide whether to retain or change the YouTube archive’s visibility in Studio.
Why exact OBS numbers are not universal
Bitrate, resolution, frame rate, and keyframe interval are encoder choices, but a suitable combination depends on the footage, computer, connection, and YouTube’s current guidance. An output setting that exceeds what the upload connection can sustain can cause dropped frames or interruptions; an output setting unsuited to the source can needlessly change the picture. Check the current YouTube encoder recommendations and the controls in your installed OBS release rather than copying an unverified preset.

Clear the music, recording, and visual rights
YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches. If it identifies material, it may replace the stream with a placeholder, warn you, interrupt it, or terminate it. A license alone may not prevent a live interruption: YouTube advises licensed creators to ask the rights holder to add their channel to the Content ID allowlist.

- Composition and lyrics: Confirm that the version you use is cleared for live use and any archive or video-on-demand use.
- Arrangement: A new arrangement can have separate rights even where a melody is traditional.
- Sound recording: Permission for a composition does not by itself establish permission to use a particular recording.
- Artwork and animation: Clear the illustrations, characters, backgrounds, and animations shown in the stream as well as the audio.
- Content ID handling: If a rights holder licenses material that is registered in Content ID, ask whether your channel can be allowlisted for live use and archives.
YouTube’s live-stream terms place responsibility on the creator for necessary rights worldwide, including music licensing rights and applicable public-performance rights, and for meeting local requirements. A label such as “free” is not proof that music is free of claims or cleared for your intended use. This is general operational guidance, not a determination of Indian copyright law or of any particular song’s status.
Set the audience correctly for nursery-rhyme content
If the stream is directed to children, choose YouTube’s Made for Kids audience setting. YouTube requires creators to designate whether content is made for kids and may override an inaccurate choice. Do not mark child-directed content as not made for kids to regain engagement or monetization features.

Made for Kids restrictions affect how the stream works: YouTube disables features including live chat, comments, notifications, personalized advertising, Super Chat, and Super Stickers for this designation. Other restrictions include saving the content to playlists and access to channel memberships or merchandise on the content. Contextual ads may still appear subject to YouTube’s live restrictions. Plan the broadcast without relying on chat or personalized-ad features.

Start with an existing computer if it can play the program and run OBS reliably. YouTube says expensive equipment is not required, and there is no verified basis here for recommending a particular processor, memory capacity, graphics card, or computer model. A microphone and camera are unnecessary for a stream composed solely of prepared visuals and audio.

If you need to buy a computer, choose based on testing the actual source files and OBS workload rather than an unverified minimum specification. A UPS or backup network connection may help some operators, but neither is a universal requirement established for Indian creators.
