Yes. A small live audience does not by itself disqualify a YouTube channel from earning through channel memberships. The channel must meet YouTube’s Partner Program and membership requirements, and viewers must choose to pay for its perks. YouTube publishes no minimum concurrent-viewer requirement or formula for predicting membership earnings from a 24/7 stream.
Do you need a minimum number of live viewers for memberships?
No minimum concurrent-viewer threshold appears in YouTube’s published membership eligibility rules. Those rules focus on Partner Program status, subscriber and activity thresholds, location, age, channel eligibility, and policy compliance. Having few people watching at any one moment does not, on its own, rule out memberships.
Eligibility is not automatic, however. YouTube says memberships let viewers join through monthly payments in exchange for perks such as badges, emoji, and other benefits. You need to qualify, accept the applicable Commerce Product Module (or an existing Addendum), and enable memberships; viewers then decide whether the perks are worth paying for. See YouTube’s channel membership eligibility and setup guidance and Commerce Product policies.
What YouTube eligibility thresholds apply?
As described on YouTube Help pages accessed in 2026, the expanded YouTube Partner Program can make memberships and other fan-funding features available at the lower threshold below, in eligible countries and regions. Meeting the numbers does not guarantee acceptance: YouTube reviews channels, and individual features have additional requirements.
#1 Best Overall
| Feature tier | Published activity threshold | What it can unlock |
|---|---|---|
| Expanded YPP | 500 subscribers, 3 public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified public long-form watch hours in the last 365 days or 3 million qualified public Shorts views in the last 90 days | Fan-funding features including memberships, where available and when the channel meets feature-specific conditions |
| Higher YPP threshold | 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualified public long-form watch hours in the last 365 days or 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the last 90 days | Watch Page ads, Shorts Feed ads, and YouTube Premium revenue, among the listed features |
These thresholds and feature availability are subject to YouTube’s current rules and regional rollout. Memberships also require the creator to be at least 18 and live where the feature is available. Channel or content restrictions can apply, including restrictions related to Made for Kids content and YouTube’s SRAV music-channel exclusion. Check the Earn tab in YouTube Studio for your channel’s current status and the requirements shown for your location; consult YouTube’s Partner Program overview and membership requirements before planning around a threshold.
Can a 24/7 stream’s watch time help a channel qualify?
Possibly, but do not assume that every hour of a continuous broadcast counts. YouTube’s YPP watch-hour rules exclude livestreams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to VOD (video on demand). Separately, YouTube says streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured as an archive at all. A single uninterrupted 24/7 broadcast is therefore risky as a way to build qualifying public watch hours.

This archive caveat affects eligibility watch hours; it is separate from whether a channel that already qualifies can accept membership payments while streaming. Check the stream’s actual archive and the qualified watch-hour total in Studio. YouTube’s livestream archiving guidance explains the capture limitation; the YPP overview describes which watch hours count.
Will a small audience generate meaningful membership revenue?
There is no official conversion rate, expected member count, or earnings estimate for a low-viewership 24/7 stream. Concurrent viewers alone cannot tell you how many will join or keep paying. Revenue depends on whether viewers value the offered perks enough to become paying members and remain members.

Rank #3
YouTube’s creator guidance says memberships may suit “a small, but incredibly passionate niche community.” Treat that as qualitative advice about audience fit, not a promise of conversions or income. A focused community that returns regularly may be a better fit for member perks than a larger but less-engaged audience, but only your channel’s actual response can show whether the offer works. See YouTube’s creator guidance on memberships.
Which other YouTube monetization routes might apply?
YouTube lists several possible revenue features for livestream creators, each with its own eligibility rules and audience fit. None is guaranteed income, and the higher YPP tier is required for the listed Watch Page ads and YouTube Premium features.
Rank #4
- Memberships: recurring payments from viewers who want the perks you offer.
- Super Chat and Super Stickers: viewer payments associated with live chat, where available and eligible.
- Advertising and YouTube Premium: revenue routes with their own eligibility requirements; the higher YPP threshold applies to Watch Page ads and YouTube Premium in the thresholds above.
- Shopping and brand partnerships: other possibilities YouTube identifies, subject to availability, eligibility, and whether they suit the channel.
YouTube’s livestream monetization guidance outlines the available features and their separate requirements. Choose only options that fit the stream and its audience; enabling a feature does not ensure viewers will use it.

If you are already using a computer or streaming setup to keep a pre-recorded YouTube broadcast running, StreamNeo is a cloud alternative: upload a video or playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It keeps the stream running from the cloud, so your computer and home connection do not need to stay on. That is separate from YouTube monetization eligibility: using a streaming service does not qualify a channel for memberships or guarantee members.

Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo streams uploaded videos to YouTube, not live camera footage. It loops a recording or playlist and includes automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. Quick Recap
Protect eligibility and build membership trust
- Keep the channel and stream compliant with YouTube’s channel monetization policies; artificially inflating views, subscribers, likes, watch time, or ad impressions can put monetization at risk. See YouTube’s channel monetization policies.
- Offer clear, sustainable perks that you can deliver consistently, rather than treating a long broadcast or a viewer count as a membership pitch by itself.
- Review the Earn tab and your qualified public watch-hour total, especially if the channel relies on livestream archives to reach an eligibility threshold.
