Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →If your stream alerts are missing, stuck, or silent, first send a test alert from the provider. If it appears in the provider’s preview but not your broadcast, check that the correct alert widget is installed as a visible Browser Source in the right scene. If it fails in the provider preview too, start with the alert’s event settings and account connection.
Start with a test alert and the correct source
- Send a test from the alert provider. Use the provider dashboard or alert manager before going live. If the test fails in the provider preview, check that the event is enabled and the account is connected.
- Check what source your streaming software uses. In OBS Studio, third-party alerts are generally embedded as a Browser Source; OBS does not directly provide stream alerts. Streamlabs Desktop can use its dedicated Alert Box source, while other software may use the provider’s browser-source URL.
- Confirm the source URL or source type is current. Verify that you copied the right widget URL from the correct alert set and added it to the scene you are testing. Twitch Help identifies a missing copied browser source as its most common reason alerts fail to appear.
Keep the two tests separate: a provider preview checks the alert configuration and connection, while a test in the actual scene checks the source and streaming-software setup.
If the alert is invisible or stuck
Check scene visibility and source order
- Make sure the alert source is enabled in the scene.
- Move it above sources that might cover it, such as a full-screen background or game capture.
- Check that you are testing the scene collection and scene where the alert source is installed.
Check widget settings and moderation
- Look for unlimited moderation delay or another setting that holds alerts for manual approval. An alert awaiting approval will not play.
- Temporarily disable custom HTML or CSS unless you intentionally added it. Custom styling can hide or disrupt the widget.
- Verify the widget theme and event settings for the scene you are using.
Refresh the browser source
Refresh the Browser Source, or remove and re-add it if it appears stale. If you change browser-source hardware acceleration as a diagnostic, restart the streaming application afterward. This is one possible troubleshooting step, not a guaranteed fix.
Check the account and local environment
If the source still does not display the alert, try logging out of and back into the provider, check whether the account needs relinking, and confirm that firewall or security software is not blocking the source. Check the computer’s date and time, then clear the provider or browser-source cache if that option is available.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Reset an API token only after the less disruptive checks. Streamlabs warns that existing widget URLs using a reset token must all be updated; replacing just one source can leave other widgets broken.
If the alert appears but has no sound
- Check the alert itself. Confirm that the alert sound is not muted in the provider’s settings.
- Check audio routing. In your streaming software’s audio mixer or advanced audio settings, verify the alert source’s routing option, monitoring mode, and the recording track you want it on. Streamlabs’ troubleshooting steps include a “Route Audio to OBS” option for its Alert Box.
- Test the sound in the stream output. Monitoring and recording are separate: audio you hear locally may not be included on the track sent to the stream or recording. Check the settings for the specific source and software, since labels and available controls vary.
If only certain events are missing
When a test alert works but a particular real event does not, check that event’s provider setting and account connection first. Then consider platform or account limitations: not every missing event is a local display problem.

- Twitch resubscriptions: Streamlabs says resubscription alerts may depend on the subscriber sharing the resubscription in chat.
- YouTube subscriptions: Streamlabs says alerts may be unavailable when a subscriber’s privacy settings hide subscriptions. Its troubleshooting page, last updated April 25, 2025, says YouTube subscriber alerts can take up to four hours. This is Streamlabs’ reported behavior on that date, not a guarantee of delivery time; platform behavior may change.
How Twitch Alerts and provider widgets differ
Twitch Alerts are configured through Twitch’s alert setup and added to streaming software using the source provided for an alert set. Third-party provider widgets, including Streamlabs Alert Box, are configured with that provider and embedded using its dedicated source type or a Browser Source, depending on the software.
| What to compare | Twitch Alerts | Third-party provider widget |
|---|---|---|
| Where alerts are configured | Twitch alert set and settings | The provider’s alert or widget settings |
| How the source gets into the scene | Add the source supplied for the Twitch alert set | Use the provider’s dedicated source type, if available, or its Browser Source URL |
| Event types and assets | Depend on the Twitch alert options available to the account | OBS notes that third-party providers control their event types and visual and audio assets |
| Delivery limits | Platform and account restrictions can affect events | Provider settings and platform or account restrictions can affect events |
The available documentation does not establish that either approach is more reliable, faster, or more feature-complete across the board. Choose based on where you want to configure alerts and which events and assets your setup supports.

Or let it run in the cloud
Stream alerts are separate from keeping a YouTube channel live with uploaded videos. If you also run a 24/7 pre-recorded YouTube stream, StreamNeo can loop uploaded videos from the cloud: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; uploads stream as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot, and StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly: $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo, or start the free day.

Why can I hear an alert locally but not in my stream recording?
The alert may be monitored locally but routed to a different output or excluded from the recording track. Check the source routing and track settings in your streaming software.
Should I reset my widget API token if one alert fails?
Only after less disruptive checks. A token reset can invalidate every existing widget URL that uses it, so those sources must be updated.
