Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →If Larix Broadcaster keeps disconnecting from YouTube, first find out where the break occurs: in Larix’s publishing connection, the phone’s encoder, the internet upload path, YouTube ingest, or viewer playback. Check the stream URL and key, measure upload capacity, inspect encoder health, then review Larix’s reconnect settings and verify the result in YouTube Live Control Room. No single setting can fix every drop.
First identify what is disconnecting
Run a short private or unlisted test stream and watch both Larix and YouTube Live Control Room. Note the exact time of any drop and what each screen reports. This separates a publishing failure from a problem that occurs after the stream reaches YouTube.
- Larix reports a publishing disconnect or reconnect: check its connection configuration, phone/app condition, and outbound network.
- Larix appears connected, but YouTube reports stream-health or incoming-bitrate problems: investigate upload stability, encoder output, and the ingest configuration.
- Live Control Room shows a healthy incoming stream, but viewers lose playback: the encoder may still be publishing; check whether the issue is limited to playback or distribution rather than changing Larix settings immediately.
YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance recommends checking encoder output and then testing the outbound connection to distinguish encoder issues from network problems. The phone model, operating system, Larix version, network, and exact error are not specified here, so treat the observed test results—not a presumed cause—as the diagnosis.
Verify Larix’s YouTube URL and stream key
- Open YouTube Live Control Room and locate the current stream server URL and stream key for the stream you intend to use.
- In Larix, open the connection configuration and compare its server URL and stream name/key with the current YouTube values. Softvelum documents the Larix connection URL as the server URL combined with the stream name or key.
- If the encoder cannot start, YouTube advises getting a new stream key and updating the encoder. Replace the key in Larix and test again.
Never post your stream key publicly or include it in screenshots or support requests. Anyone with access to it may be able to publish to your channel.

Measure upload capacity and adjust the stream to fit
Test upload speed on the same phone, network, and location where you stream; download speed does not establish that the uplink can carry a live broadcast. Repeat the test if the connection varies, and account for other devices or apps using the same connection.
YouTube recommends keeping 20% upload-bandwidth headroom above the stream’s total bitrate. That is a recommendation, not a guarantee of mobile-network stability. If measured upload fluctuates or the stream bitrate consumes nearly all available capacity, try a steadier network or lower the stream bitrate and, if needed, resolution. Retest after each change so you know which adjustment helped.

| What you observe | What to try next |
|---|---|
| Upload is unstable or has little spare capacity | Move to a more stable connection or reduce stream bitrate/resolution, then repeat the test. |
| Upload appears adequate, but drops continue | Check encoder health, connection details, and YouTube’s stream-health messages rather than assuming bandwidth is the only cause. |
| The stream works on one network but not another | Compare stability at the streaming location; a nominal speed result does not rule out interruptions on the less reliable network. |
YouTube’s recommended bitrate depends on resolution, frame rate, and codec; its guidance, for example, gives a range of 2–6 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps depending on codec. Do not treat that range as a universal target or as proof that a particular phone connection can sustain it. Choose settings that fit the measured uplink and check YouTube’s current recommendations for your selected format.
Check Larix, the phone, and encoder output
- Update Larix to a current version available for your device.
- Check the local image and audio in the encoder. If they are already poor, investigate capture and encoder conditions before focusing on YouTube playback.
- Look for encoder errors or signs that the phone is overloaded. YouTube recommends checking encoder CPU load and, where available, a local archive of the stream.
- If simplifying video settings improves local output or reduces device load, test the stream again before making other changes.
If the local feed looks healthy but Larix still loses its publishing connection, focus next on the outbound internet path and the connection configuration.

Review Larix reconnect settings
Softvelum’s FAQ places Advanced settings under Settings > Connections. The available labels and controls can differ by platform and app version, so check what your own Larix installation exposes rather than expecting every option below to appear.
- Reconnect timeout: Softvelum describes this as the wait before Larix tries to connect again.
- Don’t check network presence: the documented setting affects attempts when a network is unavailable or briefly goes offline.
- iOS-specific controls: Softvelum also describes reconnect timeout without network, idle timeout, and an unsent-data threshold for iOS. Availability and names depend on the app version and platform.
These controls affect retry behavior; they do not restore a persistently weak uplink. Change only a relevant setting, then run another test and compare the result.

Confirm the ingest protocol and YouTube stream health
YouTube recommends RTMPS for encrypted ingestion. Confirm that the server URL and protocol selected in Larix are correct and supported by your connection configuration before changing protocols. A protocol change is not established as a universal fix for disconnects.
During a test, use Live Control Room’s stream-health messages and indicators to see whether YouTube is receiving a stable feed. Compare those messages with what Larix reports at the same time; together, they help show whether the failure is before or after YouTube receives the stream.

Common problems and practical fixes
| Symptom | Likely area to investigate | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Larix cannot start publishing | Server URL or stream key | Copy the current values from YouTube Live Control Room into Larix; if needed, create a new key and update the encoder. |
| Larix repeatedly disconnects when upload varies | Outbound network capacity or stability | Test upload on the actual phone and network, reduce bitrate/resolution if needed, or try a more stable connection. |
| Local video or audio is poor, or encoder errors appear | Phone or encoder condition | Update Larix, inspect device load and encoder output, and simplify settings if necessary. |
| Larix retries too soon or does not retry as expected | Reconnect behavior | Review the reconnect controls available for your platform and version; test a relevant change without assuming it will fix the underlying connection. |
| Larix seems connected but YouTube reports trouble | Ingest, stream settings, or network path | Check YouTube’s stream-health messages, verify the ingest URL/protocol, and test outbound stability. |
