Make the change in the controls available for that stream, then follow the on-screen save or confirmation prompt. You can also find upcoming broadcasts under Content > Live.
Find the scheduled live stream
- Sign in to the YouTube account and channel that owns or manages the broadcast.
- In YouTube Studio, click Create in the upper-right corner, then Go Live to open Live Control Room.
- Open Manage and locate the scheduled stream. Alternatively, open Content > Live; upcoming broadcasts appear under Upcoming.
- Select the stream and click Edit to open its settings.
YouTube’s help pages document editing from the stream settings page or during scheduling. The save controls can vary with the stream type and interface, so use the confirmation controls shown for the selected broadcast.
Change the setting you need
The settings offered depend on how the live stream was created. YouTube’s dedicated live-stream settings guidance covers encoder and mobile streams; webcam streams have separate guidance. Use the options displayed for your own event rather than assuming every stream exposes the same fields.
Title, description, thumbnail, and other details
Open Edit and change the available details, such as the event’s metadata or thumbnail. Review the stream preview and its scheduled time before saving so the event page presents the intended information.

Privacy and audience visibility
YouTube’s live-stream settings describe Public, Private, and Unlisted privacy choices. Public events may appear to viewers as upcoming, where they can set a reminder. Viewers browsing Shorts may also be offered notifications for scheduled streams starting within the next 24 hours. Choose privacy based on who should be able to find and watch the event.
Tags
You can edit tags where the stream type’s controls provide them. YouTube says tags are mainly useful for common misspellings of the content’s terms and otherwise play a minimal role in discovery; prioritize an accurate title and description.

Add a trailer to an eligible scheduled stream
For a stream scheduled from Live Control Room’s Manage tab, YouTube documents this route:
- Select the scheduled stream and click Edit.
- Open Customize.
- Under Trailer, select Add, choose an uploaded video, and save.
YouTube lists eligibility as more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes. The trailer must be 15 seconds to 3 minutes long. If the option is unavailable, check both the channel eligibility and the selected stream’s controls.

If the stream is already live
The official guidance does not provide a complete field-by-field list of what can still be changed after a broadcast starts. Open the stream in Studio and check its current controls; do not assume every pre-live setting remains editable. A stream key is separate from ordinary event edits: YouTube describes it as sensitive, like a password, and resetting it is not necessary to change a title, description, or schedule.
Do not use the scheduled-video workflow
A scheduled live broadcast is different from a scheduled regular video upload. For a live event, use Live Control Room or Content > Live. The regular-video workflow involving Visibility and Edit draft is for scheduled uploads, not for managing an upcoming live stream.

After the broadcast
Changing the resulting replay is a separate post-stream task. YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived; access or edit the replay through the relevant video controls after the stream ends.

- The scheduled stream is missing: Confirm you are signed in to the channel that owns or manages it. Check both Manage in Live Control Room and Content > Live > Upcoming.
- You cannot find the field you want: Check whether the event is a webcam, mobile, or encoder stream. The available settings differ, and YouTube’s encoder/mobile settings article does not cover webcam streams.
- There is no trailer option: Check the stated eligibility requirements—more than 1,000 subscribers and no Community Guidelines strikes—and confirm the trailer workflow is available for that scheduled stream.
- Your change does not appear to have saved: Follow the confirmation controls displayed for the event, then reopen its settings to verify the value. YouTube does not document one universal save sequence for every interface variant.
- You are considering resetting the stream key: That is a separate security action, not a routine fix for editing event details. Reset it only if you intend to replace the key used by the encoder.
