Grand Theft Auto VI reportedly requires PS5 system software version 14.10.00.00 or newer. TwistedVoxel attributed the number to PlayStation backend tracker PlayStation Game Size in a report published October 3, 2026. The original tracker post could not be checked, and the official PlayStation and Rockstar pages reviewed do not confirm a minimum firmware version, so treat 14.10.00.00 as unverified—not an official Sony or Rockstar requirement.
What PS5 firmware does GTA 6 reportedly require?
The reported minimum is 14.10.00.00 or newer for the PS5 version of GTA VI. TwistedVoxel’s October 3, 2026 report attributes the information to PlayStation Game Size. The tracker post linked by the article was inaccessible, and the exact identifier could not be independently verified.
Neither the official Rockstar support information nor the PlayStation game page reviewed here states a minimum firmware version. Until Sony or Rockstar confirms one, 14.10.00.00 should be described as a reported requirement, not a settled compatibility rule. Firmware and launch details may change before release.
Is 14.10.00.00 officially confirmed?
No. The version appears in the TwistedVoxel report and its attribution to PlayStation Game Size, but the underlying tracker post could not be checked. The official pages confirm the platforms and editions, not this firmware threshold. There is no basis in the reviewed material to claim that a PS5 below 14.10.00.00 definitely cannot run the game.

How to check and update your PS5 system software
Sony’s built-in update route is the practical way to keep a PS5 current. Sony’s guidance says to keep the console system software updated for the best PlayStation experience.
- On the PS5, open Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings.
- Select Update System Software and follow the on-screen instructions if an update is available.
Sony also documents updating through a USB drive formatted as FAT32 or exFAT, using a PS5/UPDATE folder structure and the official update file. Use Sony’s PS5 system software update instructions for those steps. Sony cautions against unofficial update files; reinstalling system software deletes console data.

Do not install unofficial firmware or alter a console solely to respond to this unverified report. If you compare your installed version with the reported number, treat the strings as software version identifiers rather than decimal numbers.

Rockstar’s support information, last updated August 18, 2026, lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S and identifies Standard and Ultimate editions. PlayStation lists the PS5 and PS5 Pro release date as November 19, 2026, and says the game is not playable on PS4.

Rockstar says the physical version is a boxed download code, not a disc. PlayStation describes features including Tempest 3D audio, SSD fast loading, DualSense haptic feedback and controller speaker functions; these are platform feature descriptions, not independent performance tests.
