Xbox’s Ubisoft Free Play Days offer ran October 1–4, 2026, and has ended. It let all Xbox members try five games without Game Pass; a separate Xbox Wire roundup lists games scheduled for October 5–9, with release dates subject to change.
Which Ubisoft games were free to try?
Xbox Wire announced five games available to try from Thursday, October 1, through Sunday, October 4, 2026: Far Cry 6, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Skull and Bones, and The Crew Motorfest. The offer is over. Xbox Wire’s October 1 announcement is the source for the dates, eligibility, access directions, and price examples below.
Xbox said the event was “free for all Xbox members to try”; Game Pass Ultimate, Premium, or Essential membership was not required. For console access, Xbox directed players to the Store’s Subscriptions tab and the Free Play Days collection. The games could also be installed from their Xbox.com detail pages.
Pick by the kind of game you want
- Open-world action: Far Cry 6 is the choice for a modern action setting.
- Historical role-playing: Assassin’s Creed Odyssey suits players looking for an adventure in an ancient setting.
- Science-fiction exploration: Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora offers a science-fiction world to explore.
- Pirate naval play: Skull and Bones centers on pirate and ship-based play.
- Car-culture driving: The Crew Motorfest is the driving option.
What did the games cost to keep?
Xbox’s October 1 post displayed limited-time prices for some games. These are dated examples from that announcement, not current or universal prices; discounts, percentages, and availability could vary by title and region. The post excerpt reviewed did not show a purchase price for Skull and Bones.

What new Xbox games were listed for October 5–9?
In a separate October 2 post, Xbox Wire editor Mike Nelson published “Next Week on XBOX: New Games for October 5 to 9”. The roundup covers games coming to Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox on PC, and Game Pass, but availability differs by title. Xbox explicitly says release dates are subject to change, so treat the dates as the roundup’s schedule, not a guarantee. Its page provides each entry’s platform labels, description, and any shown price.
