Enable repeat for the single video or the entire playlist, confirm the intended files are included, and verify that the encoder keeps sending a feed. Playlist playback and YouTube’s live-event controls are separate parts of the setup, so check each independently.
Why the stream stops at the last file
The media source may simply have run out of content. When a single recording finishes or a playlist reaches its final item without repeating, the source can stop producing video for the encoder. If the broadcast is meant to stay live, playback needs to continue—or another source must take over.
The encoder’s connection to YouTube is a separate component. YouTube receives the feed through an encoder configured with a stream key and stream URL; a playback problem and a live-event setting problem are not necessarily the same fault. Fix the playback source first
- Identify what is playing the rerun. Determine whether the files are loaded as one media source, a playlist, or in another playback tool. The repeat control depends on the software and source type.
- Enable the appropriate repeat setting. For one recording, repeat that file. For multiple recordings, set repeat on the whole playlist rather than relying on the last item to advance to another file.
- Check the playlist contents. Confirm that every intended recording is present and that the final item is the one you expect. A missing file or a playlist containing only one item can make the stream appear to stop prematurely.
- Observe playback and encoder output at the former stopping point. Watch what happens when playback reaches the last file. The source should continue supplying content, and the encoder should continue transmitting it.

If playback continues but YouTube still stops
If the source loops normally but the broadcast ends or loses its feed, move on to the encoder and YouTube event rather than changing the playlist again.
- Check the encoder connection. Confirm the encoder is still connected and sending to YouTube using the configured stream key and stream URL.
- Check the event controls. In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, review the event’s auto-start and auto-stop settings. YouTube documents these alongside stream connection settings in its Manage live stream settings help page.
- Compare the source, encoder, and event states. Note whether playback stopped, encoder output stopped, or the YouTube event ended. That distinction narrows down which part needs attention.
OBS is one possible encoder, but the exact setup depends on the software and version in use. The OBS Studio YouTube streaming guide provides encoder setup context; it does not establish version-specific steps for every rerun setup.
