PRISM Live Studio can stream to YouTube, but its published documentation does not establish it as a dependable unattended 24/7 service. It documents connection failures and possible interruptions, and it does not promise that the app will recover automatically from every outage. If you use PRISM, plan to keep the computer and network running, use wired Ethernet, and monitor the stream. Also plan separately for replays: YouTube may not archive a live stream longer than 12 hours.
Is PRISM Live Studio suitable for a 24/7 YouTube channel?
It can send a live stream to YouTube, using account linking or an RTMP connection. That establishes platform support, not continuous-service reliability. PRISM’s published help describes situations where YouTube RTMP streams become unstable or stop, but does not establish that PRISM automatically restarts after every failure or can run unattended indefinitely.
For a channel that must stay live, the practical distinction is whether someone can notice and fix a failure. With PRISM, the computer, power, app, and internet connection remain part of the operating chain. If those conditions or the YouTube connection fail, the stream may stop. The available official guidance gives no uptime figure or independent 24/7 endurance test, so a specific reliability level cannot be claimed.
How PRISM connects to YouTube
Account connection
PRISM’s FAQ describes connecting platforms through account linking. This is the straightforward route when the service is available in PRISM’s platform connection options.

RTMP connection
PRISM also supports entering RTMP details. Use the stream URL and stream key supplied by YouTube, following the current YouTube and PRISM interface prompts. Treat the stream key like a password: do not publish it or share it. PRISM says RTMP-link streaming does not display viewer count and chat information in the app, unlike account-based connection.
For either method, confirm the stream appears in YouTube Studio and that the intended video and audio are reaching the correct channel before relying on it for a long broadcast.
What can interrupt a continuous stream?
Network instability or inadequate upload capacity
PRISM’s desktop troubleshooting guidance identifies local-network instability and insufficient upload speed as possible causes of YouTube RTMP disconnections, including the “Disconnected from server” message and error 57995. A connection that works for ordinary browsing may still be unreliable for sustained video transmission. Test the actual streaming connection and leave upload capacity available rather than saturating it with other traffic.

Wi-Fi, firewall, or security software
Weak Wi-Fi and interference from a firewall or third-party security software are also among PRISM’s listed possible causes. PRISM recommends a wired LAN connection for more consistent transmission. An Ethernet cable addresses the wireless link as a potential weak point; it does not prevent ISP outages, software faults, power loss, or YouTube-side interruptions.

PRISM documents a separate “Failed to connect to the server” error, code 57998. It says that in certain countries, changes involving IPv6 and ISP infrastructure may conflict with the default OBS-based connection method. Its suggested workaround for users in India and Indonesia is to select “IPv4 Only” and enable “network optimizations” in Advanced settings. This is troubleshooting for that reported regional issue, not a recommended global default.
Power and unattended operation
A desktop streaming setup depends on the computer staying powered on and connected, with PRISM running. Sleep settings, operating-system restarts, app crashes, router or ISP interruptions, and power cuts can all disrupt a PC-based workflow. A UPS may help with brief power interruptions, but it is not a PRISM requirement and cannot guarantee continuity. Arrange monitoring or a recovery procedure if an interruption would matter.

The following are vendor-published requirements in PRISM’s FAQ, not independent performance benchmarks. The FAQ does not state a publication year, so check PRISM’s current requirements before committing to a machine.

PRISM’s desktop product page likewise lists Windows 10/11 64-bit and Apple Silicon macOS Monterey 12.3 or higher. Requirements are not a guarantee that a particular scene, encoder setting, game, or long-running workload will perform well; test the actual configuration before depending on it.

PRISM’s “Stream Has Ended” guidance says YouTube has no maximum live-stream duration, but says auto-archiving is supported only for streams under 12 hours. It warns that streams exceeding 12 hours may not be archived at all. In other words, a broadcast may continue beyond 12 hours while its replay is not preserved.

If retaining a replay matters, do not treat the YouTube archive as your only copy for a continuous broadcast. Plan a separate recording or archive workflow and verify YouTube’s current guidance before relying on a specific duration limit.

Common problems and what to try
- “Disconnected from server” or error 57995: Check upload capacity and local-network stability; move from Wi-Fi to wired LAN; then check whether firewall or third-party security software is interfering, as PRISM’s guidance suggests.
- “Failed to connect to the server” or error 57998: If you are in India or Indonesia and the issue matches PRISM’s described IPv6/ISP case, try “IPv4 Only” and enable “network optimizations” in Advanced settings. Do not assume this setting is needed everywhere.
- Stream appears live, but PRISM does not show chat or viewer count: If you connected by RTMP link, PRISM says those details are not shown in the app. Check the live broadcast in YouTube Studio instead.
- Broadcast ended or computer went offline: Verify power, sleep and restart settings, PRISM status, and internet connectivity. The published guidance does not promise automatic restart after every failure, so confirm recovery rather than assuming it occurred.
- Replay is missing after a long broadcast: YouTube auto-archiving may not preserve streams longer than 12 hours. Check for a separate recording if replay preservation was important.
