Crashes, No Sound, or Screen Glitches?

Streamlabs sends one feed to Restream; you manage where it goes in Restream.
Connect Restream to Streamlabs Desktop
- Create an encoder stream in Restream. From the Restream home screen, select New Stream → Encoder | RTMP. If you already have an RTMP stream, open it instead. Restream’s software encoder guide describes this general RTMP workflow and lists Streamlabs among supported software.
- Choose your destinations. Turn on the channels where you want the broadcast to appear. Add titles, descriptions, and thumbnails as needed; Restream’s encoder setup supports per-channel titles and descriptions.
- Copy the RTMP URL and stream key. Keep the key private: it authorizes an encoder to send video to your Restream stream. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in Restream before continuing.
- Open Streamlabs Desktop’s stream settings. Select the gear icon, then Settings → Stream. The precise labels can vary by app version. Streamlabs’ maintained connection guide describes using custom ingest and selecting Streaming Services, with Restream as a service option. Restream’s guide describes selecting Streaming Services → Restream.io.
- Select Restream or enter custom RTMP details. If Restream appears as a service, select it and paste the Restream key in the relevant field. If the service is missing, or your interface differs, choose the custom RTMP option and enter both the RTMP URL and stream key supplied by Restream. Save with Done.
- Start the broadcast in Streamlabs Desktop. Return to Restream and open View Stream to check the incoming feed, destination channels, and viewer counts.
Recommended Streamlabs encoder settings
Restream’s April 3, 2025 Streamlabs guide recommends these settings in Streamlabs Desktop’s Settings → Output area when using Advanced output mode:
- Output Mode: Advanced
- Encoder: Software (x264)
- Rate Control: CBR
- Keyframe Interval: 2 seconds
- Profile: Main
Restream says to set remaining encoder options according to the destination platforms’ guidelines. Treat these as that dated guide’s recommendations, not universal requirements for every resolution, platform, or computer. If a destination specifies different settings, follow that destination’s current requirements.
Which service controls destinations and plan limits?
Restream and Streamlabs have separate multistream offerings. In the workflow above, Streamlabs Desktop encodes and sends one feed to Restream, while Restream controls the destinations. A Streamlabs plan does not automatically change Restream’s plan limits, and vice versa.

Restream’s February 9, 2026 help article says its free plan includes multistreaming to two channels, third-party software such as OBS, and Restream branding. It says a paid plan is required for three or more channels, Facebook Pages, Groups, and custom RTMP destinations. Those are Restream’s stated limits in that dated article; check your account’s current plan terms before relying on them.
Streamlabs separately describes a free Dual Output option for one horizontal and one vertical destination, and identifies broader Streamlabs Multistream as an Ultra feature. The product page does not establish a like-for-like price comparison with Restream, so choose based on which workflow and destinations your account needs rather than assuming one product unlocks the other’s limits.

Troubleshooting connection problems
- Restream is not listed in Streamlabs. Use the custom RTMP option and enter the RTMP URL and key from Restream; menu names and service availability can differ by app version.
- Restream does not receive a signal. Confirm Streamlabs is sending to the correct RTMP URL and that the key matches the active Restream stream. Check for extra spaces when pasting, then save the settings and start the broadcast again.
- The feed arrives, but a destination is missing. In Restream, confirm that destination is enabled for the stream and that your plan and destination account support it.
- The stream works but uses the wrong title or description. Review the per-channel metadata in Restream’s encoder setup; destination settings may be managed there rather than in Streamlabs.
- A destination rejects the broadcast or playback is unstable. Check that destination’s current streaming requirements and adjust resolution, bitrate, or other output settings accordingly. The settings in Restream’s dated guide are starting recommendations, not a guarantee for every platform or network.
Or let it run in the cloud
Restream with Streamlabs Desktop is for sending a live encoder feed to selected destinations. If your goal is instead to keep a YouTube channel live around the clock using uploaded videos, StreamNeo is a separate cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; it plays uploaded videos, not a camera feed. It streams at the quality uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; it can automatically recover if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and the monthly price is $9.99 per month. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
