Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Start with OBS at 640×360, 30 fps, H.264 and CBR, then test at the time and place you plan to stream. YouTube lists 0.4 Mbps as the minimum and 4 Mbps as the recommended H.264 bitrate for 360p30; the minimum is a platform floor, not a promise of acceptable picture quality. There is no single bitrate that works for every slow connection in India, so use repeated upload tests and a real private or unlisted stream to find your highest stable setting.
Choose a bitrate from measured upload capacity, not your plan speed
Measure upload performance on the connection and at the time the stream will run. YouTube advises checking upload speed and testing before going live, but a speed-test result does not guarantee continuous performance. Download speed is not a substitute for upload speed, and advertised plan speeds do not establish what your connection can sustain.
India has a wide range of locations, internet providers and access types, so a national figure cannot determine the right OBS setting for an individual stream. Repeat tests at different times, especially the hours when you expect the channel to be live. Leave headroom rather than setting OBS at the full speed reported by one test: the video bitrate is not the only traffic using the connection, and audio also consumes upload capacity.
Use YouTube’s bitrate figures as a guide, not a guarantee
YouTube Help’s encoder settings, accessed in 2026, give these H.264 values for the listed resolution and frame-rate combinations. The minimums are not recommendations for good-looking output; quality below the recommended bitrate may be degraded. See YouTube’s current encoder settings before configuring a stream, since platform guidance can change.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Output | H.264 minimum bitrate | H.264 recommended bitrate |
|---|---|---|
| 360p at 30 fps | 0.4 Mbps | 4 Mbps |
| 480p at 30 fps | 0.4 Mbps | 4 Mbps |
| 720p at 30 fps | 3 Mbps | 8 Mbps |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | 14 Mbps |
For a slow connection, begin at 360p30. If your measured upload capacity and test stream support it, try 480p30 next; move to 720p30 only if it remains stable with adequate headroom. Although YouTube lists 0.4 Mbps as the 360p30 minimum, that figure is not an official recommendation for a relaxation stream and does not prove that the result will be intelligible or visually acceptable. Choose based on what you observe during a representative test, not the table alone.
Set OBS for a conservative YouTube test
- Set output resolution and frame rate. In OBS, open Settings → Video. Set the output resolution to 640×360 and the frame rate to 30 fps. Keep the initial test modest; only raise resolution after it has held steady.
- Set streaming output to CBR. Open Settings → Output → Streaming. Select an encoder that supports H.264 and a rate-control option that sends constant bitrate (CBR). Set a conservative video bitrate based on repeated upload tests, remembering to allow capacity for audio and other network use. OBS encoder choices and labels can vary by version and system.
- Use YouTube RTMPS and a two-second keyframe interval. In YouTube’s live stream settings, use RTMPS when available. YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe frequency and says not to exceed four seconds. Match the OBS keyframe interval to two seconds. YouTube recommends RTMPS because it encrypts data to and through its servers.
- Protect your stream key. Copy the stream key from YouTube Studio’s live stream settings into OBS’s stream configuration. Treat it like a password: anyone with access to it may be able to broadcast to your channel. Do not publish it, include it in a screenshot, or share it in troubleshooting posts. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio and update OBS with the new key.
- Run a representative test. Start a private or unlisted stream and use the actual audio, visual motion, scene changes and transitions planned for the broadcast. A static image alone may not reveal how the real loop behaves. Monitor YouTube’s stream-health information and messages while OBS is sending.
These settings are for YouTube RTMP/RTMPS streaming using H.264; check YouTube’s encoder guidance if you choose another codec or output configuration. For x264 encoder-specific background, consult the OBS Project guide to streaming with x264.

Test upward carefully for a long-running stream
- Test 360p30 at a conservative bitrate during the hours the stream is expected to run. Repeat the test rather than relying on one favourable speed result.
- If the stream remains stable and YouTube reports healthy delivery, increase bitrate or resolution in small steps and test again. Try 480p30 before 720p30; do not jump to a higher preset just because the connection briefly reports a fast upload.
- Run a longer trial before relying on the setup for 24/7 operation. Check that the computer remains powered, does not overheat, and can reconnect after an interruption. The official settings do not prescribe a special 24/7 bitrate or guarantee continuous operation.
- If the stream becomes unstable, reduce bitrate or resolution, then test again. Keep the highest setting that remains stable under conditions representative of normal use.
Troubleshoot dropped frames and unstable delivery
- OBS reports dropped frames or YouTube stream health degrades: the upload connection may not be sustaining the configured rate. Lower bitrate first, then resolution if needed, and repeat the test. Check upload performance at the same time of day as the problem.
- A speed test looks adequate but the stream still struggles: a short test may not reflect sustained performance or competing network use. Repeat tests, check for other upload-heavy activity, and run a representative stream rather than treating a single result as proof.
- The problem persists at a lower bitrate: investigate the route or connection, not only OBS settings. OBS recommends trying a different server and contacting the internet provider if connection issues continue. Follow the steps in the OBS Project connection troubleshooting guide.
- The stream stops after a power, heat or network interruption: OBS running on a local computer depends on that computer and its connection. Verify power, cooling and reconnect behaviour during the long trial; lowering bitrate alone cannot fix an outage or an unstable device.
If you are on Wi-Fi, a wired connection may be worth testing if one is available, but it cannot increase the upload capacity supplied by your provider.
