You can keep a YouTube live stream running from a VPS by creating a live event in YouTube Studio, then running an encoder on the server to send a continuous audio-and-video feed to YouTube over RTMPS. The VPS keeps the encoder online; it does not clear music rights or guarantee uninterrupted service. Before starting, confirm that your channel can livestream and that you have permission for every recording you plan to broadcast.
Check channel eligibility and prepare the stream
YouTube supports encoder-based livestreaming. Before setting up the server, check YouTube’s current live-streaming eligibility requirements: the channel must be verified, have no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days, and the streamer must be at least 16. Verification is a platform eligibility step; it does not establish that you have the rights to broadcast your music.
- A verified YouTube channel eligible to livestream.
- Audio and video files, or a live audio-and-video source, that you are entitled to use in the intended livestream and territories.
- A VPS whose outbound connection and usage terms suit a persistent encoder process. Check its current transfer limits, acceptable-use policy, and any uptime commitment directly with the provider.
- An encoder configured to send to YouTube’s ingest destination. YouTube documents secure RTMPS ingest and requires the RTMPS protocol and port 443 for that connection (YouTube RTMPS ingestion documentation).
The sources for this setup do not establish a particular VPS size, bandwidth requirement, bitrate, resolution, FFmpeg command, or provider plan. Choose those based on your media and encoder, then test the actual stream before relying on it.
Clear Marathi music rights before going live
Treat rights clearance as a launch prerequisite, not a server setting. For each track, identify the relevant rights holders and obtain permission that covers the intended livestream and territories. A song may involve separate rights in the musical work and in the sound recording; ownership and licence scope cannot be inferred from the song title or the fact that a recording is available online.

- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content. A match can lead to a warning, a placeholder, interruption, or termination; a copyright strike can also end a stream. YouTube advises creators who have licensed third-party material to ask its owner to add the channel to the Content ID allowlist. Without that allowlisting, a stream may still be interrupted, including when it is restricted to territories where the creator says they have the necessary rights. An archived live stream can also receive a Content ID claim after the broadcast ends. See YouTube’s livestreaming help for its current guidance.
For an Indian Marathi-music channel, India’s Copyright Act, 1957 defines “communication to the public” broadly and includes communication to the public among the rights associated with musical works and sound recordings. The Copyright Rules describe a statutory broadcast-licensing process for certain published works and recordings, but that context does not establish that a particular licence applies to your YouTube stream or clears a particular track. Check current law and get track-specific advice where necessary (Copyright Act, 1957; Copyright Rules).

How the VPS-to-YouTube setup works
The YouTube live event is the destination; the encoder running on your VPS is the sender. YouTube Studio supplies the event’s ingest details, including the stream key. The VPS encoder uses those details to send the feed to YouTube using RTMPS. Keep the stream key private: anyone who obtains it may be able to send to your event. Do not paste it into public scripts, screenshots, or support posts.
- Prepare the live event in YouTube Studio. Create or schedule the livestream and open its encoder/stream settings to obtain the ingest destination and stream key. Studio labels and layout can change, so follow the current on-screen instructions rather than relying on a fixed menu path.
- Set up the encoder on the VPS. Install an encoder compatible with your media and operating system. Configure it to send to YouTube’s displayed destination using RTMPS, with the stream key kept in a protected configuration. The documented connection requirements include the RTMPS protocol and port 443. This guide does not validate a specific FFmpeg build, command, or server configuration.
- Provide a continuous feed. Configure the encoder’s input to supply the audio and video you intend to broadcast, such as an authorized recording or playlist. Confirm the feed has sound and picture and does not end unexpectedly.
- Start the encoder and check the event. Confirm that the encoder is sending and that YouTube reports a healthy incoming stream before starting or publicizing the broadcast. Review the stream itself for audio, video, and rights-related warnings.
- Keep the process supervised. Arrange monitoring for encoder exit and ingest interruption, and test how the process is restarted and how alerts reach you. These are operational recommendations, not a guarantee that a VPS or any particular configuration will stay online.
Plan for interruptions and recovery
A VPS removes the need to leave a home computer running, but the stream can still stop because of an encoder failure, network interruption, account restriction, YouTube ingest issue, or rights match. No provider availability guarantee or tested restart configuration is established here. Treat “always-on” as an operating goal: monitor the encoder and YouTube event, make sure you can respond to alerts, and test recovery before leaving the stream unattended.

- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- If the encoder stops, inspect its logs and input source, then restart it using your chosen process supervisor or operating procedure.
- If YouTube no longer receives the feed, check the event’s current ingest details and the VPS network path, including outbound access on port 443.
- If YouTube shows a copyright warning or interrupts the stream, do not assume a licence alone resolves the match. Contact the rights owner about Content ID allowlisting and review the track’s permissions.
- If the channel cannot start a stream, check verification status and whether a live-streaming restriction applies.
Preflight checklist
- The channel meets YouTube’s current livestream eligibility rules.
- You have permissions covering the specific recordings, livestream use, and relevant territories; Content ID allowlisting has been addressed with rights owners where applicable.
- The VPS encoder connects to the event using RTMPS and the displayed stream key is kept private.
- You have watched a test feed, confirmed audio and video, and verified that alerts and recovery procedures work.
- You have checked the VPS provider’s current transfer limits, acceptable-use terms, and uptime terms rather than assuming a 24/7 guarantee.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you would rather not configure and supervise a VPS encoder, StreamNeo keeps an uploaded video or playlist looping as a YouTube livestream from the cloud. Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; each slot streams what you upload up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card required. The monthly option is $9.99 per month. It plays uploaded videos rather than broadcasting from a camera, and music rights still need to be cleared. Start the free first day with StreamNeo.
