You can use a phone or tablet to move a video from Dropbox into YouTube, add it to a playlist, and set the playlist to repeat. The dependable route is Dropbox file → YouTube upload → playlist → repeat. YouTube imports the selected video into your account; the available official guidance does not establish a direct Dropbox-folder-to-YouTube playback connection.
What this method does—and what it does not
A repeating YouTube playlist plays prerecorded videos in sequence and cycles through them. It is not a YouTube live broadcast. For a continuous playlist, you do not need to start a live stream; you need the videos uploaded to YouTube and playlist repeat enabled.
Dropbox is the source of your video file, not a verified live feed to YouTube. YouTube’s upload guidance says the video file is imported to YouTube (YouTube Help: Upload YouTube videos). No direct Dropbox-folder-to-YouTube continuous playback workflow is established here.
Upload the Dropbox video with a phone or tablet
- Make the file available to the device. Open Dropbox and use the available save, export, or share-to-device controls to make a local copy if needed. Whether a cloud-only file appears directly in YouTube’s picker can vary with the operating system, app versions, and file-provider behavior; if you cannot see it during upload, save it to the device first.
- Open YouTube and select the video. On Android, open the YouTube app, tap Create, choose Video, select the file, and continue through the upload details and visibility options. On iPhone or iPad, YouTube’s app instructions likewise let you choose an existing video. Interface labels may shift between app versions, so follow the current upload prompts if they differ. - Choose the audience and playlist. Set the video’s visibility as appropriate and add it to an existing playlist or create one in the upload flow. You can also create a playlist in the YouTube app. YouTube’s Android help describes creating one from the You tab or from a video, then setting its title and privacy (YouTube Help: Create and manage playlists). A private playlist is viewable only by its owner; choose unlisted to share by link or public if you want it discoverable.
- Wait for upload and processing to finish. A large video can take substantial time and data to upload. Prefer reliable Wi-Fi when practical. Android YouTube has a setting for choosing Wi-Fi or mobile-network uploads; the iPhone and iPad instructions include a Wi-Fi-only option. Check the app’s upload settings if you want to avoid using mobile data.
Set the playlist to repeat
- Open the playlist in YouTube and start playing it.
- On the mobile player, open the playlist control box and tap Loop. YouTube distinguishes repeating the playlist from repeating the current video: a second tap changes to repeating the current video only. Confirm the control is set to loop the playlist, not just one item.
- On a TV or console, select the playlist, open the player controls, and choose Repeat • Playlist.

Play it on a TV (optional)
You can use the YouTube app installed on a smart TV or streaming device, or cast from the YouTube mobile app. YouTube says you cannot cast from youtube.com in a mobile browser. If needed, a TV code can link the phone and TV even when they are not on the same Wi-Fi network. See YouTube Help: Watch YouTube on your smart TV.
If you meant a YouTube live stream
Playlist repeat is prerecorded playback, not a live broadcast. If you specifically need a live stream, mobile live streaming has separate channel requirements: YouTube’s current guidance says a channel needs at least 50 subscribers, verification, live streaming enabled, and no live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days. First-time mobile live-stream activation can take up to 24 hours. These requirements apply to mobile live streaming, not ordinary playlist playback. Limits and troubleshooting
- The Dropbox video is missing from YouTube’s picker: The direct cloud-file handoff is not guaranteed. Use Dropbox’s available save, export, or share controls to make a local copy, then reopen YouTube’s upload flow.
- The playlist stops after one pass: Open the playlist controls and enable playlist loop. If the control has been tapped twice and only the current video repeats, tap again to switch back to playlist repeat.
- The upload is slow or uses too much data: Use a reliable Wi-Fi connection where possible, and check YouTube’s upload-network setting before sending a large file over mobile data.
- You cannot cast from a phone browser: Open the YouTube app on the phone and cast from there, or use the YouTube app on the TV or streaming device.
Dropbox playback, YouTube playlists, and offline viewing
YouTube offline downloads are limited to eligible videos and selected countries or regions, and the documented rules require periodic reconnection. They are not a Dropbox integration or a way to create a continuously repeating cloud playlist. Google Drive separately documents video playback in its Android app, subject to supported formats and resolution and network constraints; that is a distinct playback route, not evidence that Dropbox files can play as a YouTube playlist.
