The channel must be accepted into the YouTube Partner Program (YPP), comply with its monetization and advertiser-friendly policies, have rights to the cartoon’s visuals and audio, and enable the required Watch Page Monetization Module. Because children’s cartoons are likely made for kids, personalized ads and several chat and commerce features are unavailable. YouTube does not guarantee that ads will run continuously—or that a stream longer than 12 hours will be archived.
What has to be true before the stream can earn ad revenue?
The channel must qualify for and pass YPP review
For standard ad-revenue eligibility, YouTube currently requires 1,000 subscribers and either 4,000 qualified public watch hours on long-form videos in the previous 12 months or 10 million qualified public Shorts views in the previous 90 days. Meeting a threshold is not automatic acceptance: YouTube reviews the channel against its monetization policies. See YouTube’s YPP eligibility overview.

To earn Watch Page ad revenue from long-form videos or livestreams, eligible creators must also accept the Watch Page Monetization Module. YouTube’s guidance on turning on ads for videos explains the monetization controls.
Originality helps, but the channel must offer distinct value
YouTube says monetized content should “Be your original creation.” Original children’s cartoons can still fail review if the channel is built from mass-produced, generic, repetitive, or manipulative material. Episodes may share characters and a recognizable format, but the work should have meaningful variation and distinct value rather than repeating substantially the same content. YouTube clarified its policy terminology in July 2025, renaming “repetitious content” as “inauthentic content.” Read the YouTube channel monetization policies.

The creator must hold the necessary rights
When turning on ads, creators confirm they have the necessary rights to both the visual and audio elements. That includes the cartoon itself and any music, sound effects, or other material in the broadcast. Original animation does not establish rights to separately sourced music or other third-party elements. YouTube also does not guarantee that an eligible ad slot will actually be filled for every viewer. See YouTube’s livestream monetization guidance.
How does “made for kids” affect monetization?
A cartoon intended for children is likely to be made for kids. YouTube says creators should consider factors including animated characters, stories, songs, language, subject matter, and intended audience. The creator is responsible for setting the audience accurately; do not rely on automated systems to make that decision. See YouTube’s guidance on determining whether content is made for kids.

Made for kids does not mean all advertising is prohibited. Personalized ads are disabled, but contextual ads may still appear. Several other features are restricted or unavailable:
- Live chat and live chat donations are unavailable.
- Super Chat and Super Stickers are unavailable.
- Memberships and merchandise features are restricted.
These limits make chat-based contributions an unsuitable dependable substitute for ad revenue on a children’s livestream. YouTube explains the feature limits in its made-for-kids content guidance.

How do livestream ads work?
Eligible creators can enable pre-roll and mid-roll ads. Mid-rolls can be automatic or manually inserted, but an eligible slot is not a promise that an ad will serve. There is also an important playback limitation: if the stream is embedded on an external site with autoplay, ads are turned off for that stream. YouTube describes these conditions in its livestream monetization guidance.
YouTube reported that channels enabling automatic live mid-rolls saw an average uplift of over 20% in instream ad revenue per hour compared with channels that did not enable them. This was a platform-reported comparison across 207 countries in January 2024—not a forecast for a particular channel, children’s cartoons, or a 24/7 broadcast. YouTube’s January 2024 announcement provides that context.
Rank #4
What is the main 24/7 streaming risk?
The clearest format-specific issue in YouTube’s guidance is archiving. Streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, but YouTube warns that a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. A creator who needs a replay should keep a separate local recording rather than assume a continuous broadcast will produce a complete YouTube archive. YouTube recommends recording a local backup in its livestream archive guidance.
This is an archive limitation, not an explicit prohibition on a long stream. YouTube’s guidance does not promise that dividing a broadcast into shorter sessions will affect monetization review or ensure a complete archive.
Can StreamNeo keep the cartoon stream running?
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live from uploaded videos. It can loop a recording or playlist without a home computer staying on. It does not decide whether a channel qualifies for YPP, whether the content is suitable for ads, or whether the creator has the necessary rights. You remain responsible for the accurate made-for-kids setting and YouTube’s policies.
Or let it run in the cloud
Upload your recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. StreamNeo runs the uploaded videos from the cloud, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the uploaded quality up to 4K at 60 fps at one flat price per slot, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. It is a YouTube-only service; it does not stream from a camera. See StreamNeo plans, then start your free first day.
