You can run a continuous lofi stream to YouTube over Airtel broadband with an encoder, a channel eligible for live streaming, a stable upload connection and music and visuals cleared for live use. For a local setup, start with 720p at 30 fps, H.264 at 3 Mbps, and 128 kbps stereo audio; test the connection and full stream before relying on it. “24/7” is an operating goal, not a guarantee: power, computer, router or broadband failures can interrupt a stream.
What you need before going live
- An eligible YouTube channel: YouTube requires a verified channel with no live-streaming restriction in the past 90 days. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility and setup guide.
- An encoder and media: Your encoder must be able to send the lofi video and audio continuously. Prepare a representative audio/video segment for testing.
- Stable upload capacity: Measure upload performance where and when the stream will run; the broadband plan’s advertised maximum does not establish the speed available to your encoder.
- Rights for every track and visual: Confirm that your permissions cover the intended live transmission, territories and any saved archive.
Check YouTube access and protect the stream key
- Verify your channel and confirm it has no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days.
- In YouTube Studio, create or select an encoder stream. Copy the stream URL and stream key into the matching fields in your encoder. YouTube’s live stream settings guide explains the stream controls.
- Treat the stream key like a password. Do not show it in screenshots, share it publicly or include it in instructions. If it is exposed, replace it in YouTube Studio and update the encoder.
- Before scheduling an unattended stream, decide whether YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop options suit your workflow. Those controls do not establish automatic recovery from every outage.
Confirm the Airtel connection can sustain your stream
Run an upload speed test at the location and time of day the stream will operate, then repeat the test during a realistic encoder run. YouTube recommends leaving 20% headroom above the stream bitrate and warns, “A disruption on your connectivity could mean a broken stream.” Its streaming tips also note that download speed may be higher than upload speed. Other household devices use upload capacity too, so test with normal competing use where practical.
A wired Ethernet connection to the router is an optional way to avoid relying on Wi-Fi for the encoder; YouTube’s guidance calls for a reliable connection, not a mandatory cable. TRAI says it does not prescribe a minimum broadband upload or download speed, so local measurement matters more than assuming an “up to” figure will be available continuously. See TRAI’s broadband FAQ.
Use conservative encoder settings
For a static lofi visual, 720p at 30 fps is a practical starting profile that limits upload demand while keeping the picture usable. YouTube recommends 3 Mbps for H.264 at 720p30. The table combines that recommendation with YouTube’s other encoder guidance; test the result with your own encoder and media.

| Setting | Starting value | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Ingest protocol | RTMPS | YouTube recommends encrypted RTMPS ingestion. |
| Video codec | H.264 | Supported in YouTube’s encoder settings guidance. |
| Rate control | CBR | Use constant bitrate rather than a variable rate for this setup. |
| Resolution and frame rate | 720p, 30 fps | Editorial starting point for a largely static scene; check that the image looks acceptable. |
| Video bitrate | 3 Mbps | YouTube’s recommended H.264 bitrate for 720p30. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube recommends two seconds and says not to exceed four seconds. |
| Audio | AAC stereo, 128 kbps, 44.1 kHz | YouTube lists these recommended stereo settings; use options supported by your encoder. |
| Network headroom | At least 20% above total stream bitrate | YouTube’s guidance; allow additional capacity for other network use. |
YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions guidance is the reference for these settings. A 3 Mbps video plus 128 kbps audio is approximately 3.13 Mbps before protocol overhead. As a planning calculation, sending that rate continuously transfers about 1.0 TB over 30 days using decimal units. Actual traffic varies with overhead, settings and interruptions; this is not an Airtel usage figure.
Run a preflight before making the stream public
- Start the encoder and open the stream preview in YouTube Live Control Room.
- Check representative portions of the audio and video, including any transitions or playlist changes, for gaps, distortion, freezes or unintended silence.
- Confirm the stream health indicators remain stable during a realistic test. YouTube recommends monitoring stream health rather than assuming a successful start means a reliable ongoing feed.
- Only make the stream public when the preview and rights checks are satisfactory. If you save the live stream, review the archive after it ends as well.
Check Airtel’s fair-use terms and plan for interruptions
Bharti Airtel’s published Xstream Fiber terms state a 3,333 GB billing-cycle fair-usage threshold and say speed may be reduced to up to 2 Mbps after it. The same terms say Airtel may amend the fair-use policy. These terms are for Xstream Fiber and may not describe every Airtel access product or plan; check the current terms and your exact plan at Airtel’s Xstream Fiber terms page.

The simple 3.13 Mbps example above is below that published threshold over 30 days, but the comparison excludes other household traffic and protocol overhead. Higher settings, other usage or changed plan terms can alter the result. Check actual account usage rather than treating the calculation as a guarantee.
A local encoder depends on the computer, power, router and Airtel connection continuing to work. YouTube’s auto-start and auto-stop settings are stream controls, not a promise of fault recovery or uninterrupted uptime. Decide how you will restart the encoder and reconnect after an outage, and test that recovery process. YouTube recommends ongoing stream-health monitoring in its encoder guidance and stream settings guide.

Clear music and visuals for live use
YouTube’s live-stream terms place rights responsibility on the content provider: “You represent and warrant that you have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.” Read the livestream terms and conditions and YouTube’s guidance on copyright issues with live streams.
Do not assume that crediting an artist, buying a track, or finding music labelled “lofi” grants the rights needed for a continuous public live stream. Confirm the permission or license covers live transmission, relevant territories and archive availability. YouTube notes that archived live streams can receive Content ID claims after the stream ends.

Common problems and what to check
- YouTube will not let you start: Check channel verification and whether a live-stream restriction applies within the past 90 days; then confirm the correct stream URL and key are entered in the encoder.
- The stream drops or the health indicator degrades: Check measured upload capacity, competing household traffic, Wi-Fi stability and whether the encoder bitrate leaves YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom. Lower the bitrate and repeat the full test if capacity is inconsistent.
- The stream looks or sounds poor: Inspect encoder resolution, frame rate, video bitrate and audio settings against the table; test a lower-resolution profile if the connection cannot sustain the chosen one.
- The stream stops after a power or broadband outage: Restore the computer, router and connection, then restart or reconnect the encoder according to its controls. Do not assume YouTube auto-start or auto-stop will recover a failed connection.
- A saved archive gets a copyright claim: Review the rights for the specific track or visual and address the claim through YouTube’s applicable process. Confirm that the license covered archived content as well as live transmission.
- Upload slows during long-running use: Check actual billing-cycle consumption and your exact Airtel plan’s current fair-use terms; the published Xstream Fiber threshold is subject to amendment.
