Start with the disconnect’s timestamp and the exact error in YouTube Live Control Room, then test the encoder, run a wired Ethernet test, and measure sustained upload under the real streaming workload. This sequence helps separate a stream-configuration problem from Wi-Fi instability or an Airtel service fault; the title alone cannot identify which one is responsible.
1. Capture the error before changing settings
Open YouTube Live Control Room and inspect Stream health and its timestamped error text. YouTube says the dashboard checks the stream being sent and displays errors next to the Health Indicator. The exact message can distinguish a configuration issue—such as a codec or bitrate warning—from trouble delivering the stream. See YouTube’s live-stream error messages and stream metrics guidance.
Write down the time of each disconnect and any warning. Compare those times with encoder logs, the local recording or archive, upload measurements, and the ONT/router indicators. A timestamp is more useful than a general report that the stream “keeps dropping,” particularly if the fault is intermittent.
2. Check whether the encoder or its source is failing
Before changing Airtel settings, confirm that the encoder software is current and inspect its CPU load and local audio/video output. If you record locally, check whether the recording continues normally through the time YouTube disconnects. A local recording that also freezes, drops frames, or stops points toward the source, computer, or encoder; a healthy local output does not prove the internet is sound, but it helps narrow the diagnosis.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
YouTube’s troubleshooting flow says a healthy-looking encoder can indicate an outbound internet problem. If the encoder output itself is unhealthy, correct the source, software, or configuration first, or test another encoder before treating the ISP as the cause. Follow YouTube’s live-stream troubleshooting steps.
3. Repeat a controlled test over Ethernet
Connect the streaming computer directly to the Airtel ONT/router with an RJ45 Ethernet cable, then repeat a test using the same encoder, stream settings, and approximate workload. Airtel identifies Cat5/Cat6 Ethernet as the computer-to-router connection and notes it can be more stable than Wi-Fi, with less interference. Its Xstream Fiber troubleshooting guidance explains the wired connection.

- 4K HDMI Display: Enhance your visual experience with a hub capable of delivering 4K resolution at 30Hz in both mirror and extend modes. Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- Wired test is stable, Wi-Fi test drops: Focus on wireless coverage, interference, or congestion. Keep the wired connection for streaming if practical, and investigate Wi-Fi separately.
- Wired test also drops: Wi-Fi is no longer the leading explanation. Continue with sustained upload, encoder errors, and Airtel line checks.
If you do not have a suitable cable, a Cat5e/Cat6 RJ45 cable can enable this isolation test. Buying one does not repair a faulty fiber line or provider-side problem.
4. Measure sustained upload while the stream is running
For a live stream, upload capacity matters; a plan’s advertised download speed does not show whether the connection can reliably send your stream. Measure upload during the actual workload and around the times the stream fails. YouTube recommends leaving 20% bandwidth headroom above the total streaming bitrate. Its guidance states: “The total bitrate you’re streaming cannot exceed the amount of upload bandwidth available.” See YouTube’s streaming tips.

Include all simultaneous uploads when assessing headroom: a primary and backup output, cloud backups, other users’ uploads, or any other application sending data. A single best-case speed result or the advertised plan speed is not evidence of stable capacity throughout a continuous stream.
5. Match encoder settings to YouTube’s guidance
Use the Live Control Room warning to identify a specific configuration problem rather than changing settings at random. YouTube’s published encoder recommendations call for CBR, supported codecs, and a 2-second keyframe interval; it says not to exceed 4 seconds. For H.264, its recommended bitrates include 6 Mbps for 720p at 30 fps and 14 Mbps for 1080p at 30 fps. Recommendations vary by resolution, frame rate, and codec, so these figures are not a guarantee of what your Airtel connection can sustain. See YouTube’s encoder settings, bitrates, and resolutions.

If measured upload is inadequate or fluctuates, reduce the stream’s resolution or bitrate and run another controlled test. If YouTube reports an encoder-setting error, correct the relevant codec, bitrate, frame-rate, or keyframe setting identified by the dashboard and retest. Do not assume a bitrate recommendation can compensate for an unstable connection.

- Confirm the ONT/router has power and that the Ethernet and fiber connections are seated. Airtel says a quick troubleshooting measure is to wiggle the patch-cord connector; because the fiber lead is delicate, check that it is seated without pulling, forcing it, or sharply bending the cable.
- Check the device’s indicator lights against the documentation for your specific modem. Light meanings vary by model, so do not assume one color or pattern has the same meaning on every unit. Airtel’s modem light guide discusses indicator meanings.
- If appropriate, reboot the ONT/router once and allow the service to reconnect. Airtel also points customers to My Wi-Fi/Optimize Wi-Fi diagnostics in the Airtel Thanks app.
- If disconnects continue over Ethernet, contact Airtel through the app or its support channel. Provide the failure timestamps, observed indicator states, and results of wired upload tests so support can investigate the service side.
A persistent wired failure after basic checks is a reason to ask Airtel to investigate, not to keep making unrelated encoder changes. The available information does not establish that Airtel Xstream Fiber is at fault in every case; the ONT/router model, stream settings, topology, and observed error all matter.
