Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteTo keep a property agent’s contact details visible throughout a YouTube Live property tour, add them as a persistent text or graphic overlay in the encoder or streaming software that produces the feed. Include the agent’s name, phone number and a short prompt such as “Call or text to arrange a viewing.” Keep the banner clear of important room details, check it in YouTube’s Live Control Room preview and on a phone-sized playback view, and put any clickable contact link in the video description—not Live Chat.
Choose a prerecorded loop or a live camera tour
YouTube’s encoder workflow accepts a video feed sent from encoder software. A prerecorded tour repeated by that software is a production choice; it is not a native YouTube looping mode documented in the encoder setup. A live walkthrough instead shows the property as the camera sees it in real time.
| Consideration | Prerecorded tour loop | Live camera walkthrough |
|---|---|---|
| Does the picture change in real time? | No; the encoder software plays the prepared tour. | Yes; the feed follows the camera. |
| Does someone need to operate the tour? | The software must play and send the video; whether an operator must remain present depends on the setup. | An operator is generally needed to guide the camera and tour. |
| How is the contact banner added? | Composite it over the video in the streaming software. | Composite it over the camera feed in the streaming software. |
| Is camera input hardware needed? | No capture card is needed for a software-generated video loop. | A capture card may be needed to bring an HDMI camera into the streaming computer. |
YouTube’s documentation covers encoder workflows and hardware use generally, but does not prescribe a particular looping application or camera kit. Confirm the overlay controls in your chosen encoder.
Make a readable, useful contact banner
Include the essentials
- The agent’s public display name.
- A direct phone number that the agent is authorized to publish.
- A concise next step, for example, “Call or text to arrange a viewing.”
Keep the banner legible at the stream’s final output resolution and on a small phone screen. Place it where it does not cover room features viewers need to assess, and check it against both bright and dark scenes in the tour. Do not display private contact information or details the agent is not authorized to share.

Use the encoder’s overlay controls
Add the text or graphic as a persistent layer in the production software, then verify that it stays on screen throughout the feed. YouTube’s help page documents browser-source overlay steps for its Take a Break slate: copy the overlay URL, add a browser source in the encoder, match its width and height to the stream, and test it. Those instructions concern the break slate; they do not say to use that URL for a custom contact banner. Use your encoder’s own method for a contact graphic.
Set up and check the YouTube broadcast
- Create or schedule the stream. In YouTube Live Control Room, set the stream’s title and other metadata, then choose public, private or unlisted visibility as appropriate.
- Connect the encoder. Copy the stream URL and stream key from Live Control Room into the encoder’s streaming settings. YouTube says, “Stream keys are like your YouTube stream’s password and address.” Keep the key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to send a feed to the stream.
- Set the output. Choose a resolution and bitrate supported by your connection and encoder. Use YouTube’s current encoder settings guidance for the applicable resolution and frame rate rather than assuming one bitrate fits every tour. Check that the keyframe interval and other output settings match the guidance: YouTube’s live encoder settings, bitrates and resolutions.
- Inspect the preview. Start the encoder feed and wait for it to appear in Live Control Room. Confirm the banner is positioned correctly, readable, and present over representative rooms and camera movement before starting the broadcast.
- Test audio and stream health. Play the whole path through the encoder and preview. Check that the video moves smoothly, speech or other intended audio is audible, and the stream health indicators do not show a problem. YouTube recommends testing stream settings and checking preview and quality before going live: YouTube live streaming tips.
- Start the live broadcast. Once the preview and checks are satisfactory, start the stream from Live Control Room or the encoder workflow you use.
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. For a longer tour loop, do not assume a complete archive will be available; consult the encoder guidance at Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder.
Give viewers a reliable way to follow up
The phone number and prompt in the overlay remain part of the video, including for viewers who cannot use chat. Add a clickable contact or viewing-request link to the video description where appropriate. YouTube does not allow URLs in Live Chat, and Live Chat is unavailable in embedded players, so chat is not a dependable route for sharing a link. See YouTube’s information about live streams.

Check permissions before showing the tour
Rules for real-estate advertising, licensing, privacy and filming consent depend on the location, brokerage and circumstances—for example, whether the home is occupied. Confirm the requirements that apply to the property and obtain any necessary permission before filming or publishing identifying details. YouTube’s streaming setup guidance does not settle those local legal questions.
Troubleshoot common problems
- The banner is missing from the preview: Check that the overlay layer or browser source is enabled and positioned within the output canvas. If using a browser source, confirm that it is configured for the intended graphic rather than assuming YouTube’s Take a Break slate URL is a general-purpose banner.
- The phone number is hard to read: Increase its size or contrast, shorten other text and review the preview at phone scale. Move it away from important property details.
- The contact link does not work in chat: Put the clickable link in the description instead. Live Chat does not allow URLs, and embedded-player viewers do not have Live Chat.
- The stream does not appear in Live Control Room: Recheck that the encoder uses the stream URL and key for the intended broadcast, and treat the key as a credential. Inspect the encoder connection and YouTube preview before going live.
- The feed stutters or quality is poor: Recheck the encoder’s resolution, frame rate and bitrate against YouTube’s guidance and the available connection. Test again in preview and monitor stream health before broadcasting.
- The tour shows no camera movement: If the intended format is a prerecorded loop, confirm the encoder software is playing the tour file. A live camera walkthrough requires a camera feed; an HDMI camera connected to a computer may need capture hardware.
