Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Schedule the YouTube Live event, connect it to the stream carrying your demo, and enable auto-start. YouTube will then change the broadcast to live when video begins arriving on that bound stream. Scheduling alone does not start a video loop, player, or encoder: the source still needs to be set up and running.
What “start automatically” means
A scheduled broadcast is the event viewers can visit; the stream is the transmission feed that carries your demo video and audio. The event must be associated with the correct stream. Auto-start tells YouTube to start the broadcast when video begins arriving on that stream. It does not start the software, device, or playback process that sends the video.
That distinction matters for a product-demo loop: YouTube can automate the broadcast state, but the source-side setup must make the demo play and send its feed at the right time.
Schedule and configure the broadcast in YouTube Studio
Use YouTube Studio’s current live-event workflow to create a scheduled event, select or configure the stream that will carry the demo, and enable auto-start in the stream settings. YouTube’s documentation describes the behavior of these settings, but does not establish exact current Studio click-by-click labels for every account or workflow, so follow the labels shown in your Studio interface.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Create a scheduled live event. Set its title, future start time, and privacy so the intended audience can access it. Check the event’s audience and visibility before sharing its link.
- Choose the stream for the event. Confirm that the stream settings you intend to use are associated with this broadcast. Your demo source must send video to that stream.
- Enable auto-start. Turn on the auto-start option in the stream settings. YouTube Help says that when auto-start and auto-stop are enabled, you can start or stop streaming from the encoder; reusing stream settings copies those selections.
- Set up the demo source. Configure your existing playback and transmission setup to send the intended video and audio to the selected stream. Scheduling the event does not upload or loop the demo for you.
- Check the preview before the event. Confirm that the correct demo video and audio appear in the preview and that the intended audience can access the event.
YouTube recommends setting up an encoder at least two hours before a livestream, starting it at least 15 minutes before the event, checking the preview, verifying that the event is reachable, and monitoring audio and video. These are YouTube’s preparation recommendations for encoder-based streams, not universal technical requirements.
Use the API for repeatable scheduling
If you are automating event creation, YouTube’s Live Streaming API exposes the event, stream association, and auto-start setting explicitly. A liveBroadcast represents the scheduled event; a liveStream represents transmission settings. Bind the broadcast to the stream that will carry the demo before relying on that feed.

- Call
liveBroadcasts.insertto create the broadcast. The required fields includesnippet.title,snippet.scheduledStartTime, andstatus.privacyStatus. The scheduled start must be in the future and close enough for the broadcast to be reliably scheduled. Use an ISO 8601 datetime for the scheduled time. - Associate the broadcast with the intended stream using the API’s binding workflow. The source must send its feed to that stream.
- Set
contentDetails.enableAutoStarttotrue. The API reference defines this as starting the broadcast automatically when video begins on the bound stream. - Start the source that sends the demo feed. With auto-start enabled, the lifecycle guide says a separate
liveBroadcasts.transitioncall to move the broadcast live is unnecessary once streaming begins.
Google for Developers states: “If you set the liveBroadcast resource’s contentDetails.enableAutoStart property to true, then you do not need to call the liveBroadcasts.transition method.” If you want your application to control the broadcast transition separately instead, do not rely on auto-start; the API lifecycle requires an explicit transition call in that workflow.
For API testing, keep in mind that enabling auto-start before a test can cause the broadcast to start when the test stream begins sending video. Use a test configuration appropriate to the event you intend to protect.

What happens when the source starts
After your source begins sending video, check that the bound stream reports active; the API lifecycle guide describes that state as indicating that YouTube’s servers are receiving data correctly. With auto-start enabled, YouTube then processes the broadcast transition. The guide says this typically takes 5 to 10 seconds and can take up to a minute. That processing time is not a promise that viewers will see the event live at the exact scheduled start time.
The scheduled time identifies when the event is intended to take place. The documented auto-start trigger is incoming video on the bound stream, so the actual start depends on the source beginning transmission and YouTube processing the transition.

Preflight checklist for a demo loop
- Confirm that you are starting the source for the correct scheduled event and bound stream.
- Check the preview for the intended demo video and audible, usable audio.
- Verify that your source-side playback and transmission setup will continue running for the planned duration of the loop.
- Check that the event’s privacy and access settings match the audience you intend to reach.
- Leave time before the event to notice and address missing video, audio, or access problems.
Troubleshooting
The event is scheduled, but it has not gone live
A scheduled time does not supply a feed. Start the source that sends video to the event’s bound stream, then check whether the stream reports active. If it does not, verify that the source is sending to the correct stream.
Video is arriving, but the broadcast does not start automatically
Check that the broadcast is bound to the stream receiving video and that auto-start is enabled for the broadcast. In an API workflow, confirm contentDetails.enableAutoStart is true. Allow for transition processing; the lifecycle guide gives a typical 5-to-10-second interval and says it can take up to a minute.

The preview is blank or has the wrong content
Check the selected event and stream, then inspect the source-side playback and transmission setup. The schedule does not choose or launch the demo video. Confirm that the intended video and audio are reaching YouTube’s preview before the event.
The event is live, but the loop stops
Auto-start changes the broadcast state; it does not keep the source-side player or transmission setup running. Check that the system playing and sending the loop remains active and that the intended feed continues to reach the bound stream.
Or let it run in the cloud
If you want a YouTube product-demo loop without keeping a computer or home connection on, StreamNeo runs uploaded videos from the cloud. Upload the recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. It keeps the stream running with your computer off and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The same flat price per slot applies at any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps, with no re-encode or quality tiers. The first day is free with no card; the monthly option is $9.99 per month. StreamNeo is for uploaded videos streamed to YouTube, not camera broadcasts. Start your free day with StreamNeo.
