You can broadcast a continuous Marathi music stream by connecting OBS Studio to YouTube Live Control Room and feeding it a repeating audio program. Before you configure the encoder, clear the rights for every recording and composition: YouTube scans live streams for third-party matches and can interrupt them, even when you have a license if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel in Content ID.
1. Clear the music rights before building the stream
Make a rights inventory for every recording and composition you plan to play. Confirm who controls the recording and the underlying composition, which territories your permission covers, and whether it allows a live broadcast and any replay or archive. YouTube’s livestream terms put responsibility on the channel operator to have the necessary rights, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers, and other royalty participants.
A track being available on a music service, credited in your description, or labelled “copyright-free” is not proof that you can rebroadcast it. YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A detected match can result in a warning, a placeholder over the stream, a temporary interruption, termination, or action after a strike. Even licensed music can be interrupted if the rights owner has not allowlisted your channel in Content ID. Ask the relevant rights owner, label, distributor, or publisher to confirm both permission and allowlisting before launch.
The specific Indian licensing and collecting-society obligations depend on the catalog and permissions involved; YouTube’s general terms do not settle them. Confirm the requirements with the relevant rights holders or qualified local counsel.

2. Make the channel eligible to livestream
- In YouTube Studio, verify the channel if it is not already verified.
- Check that the channel has no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days.
- Confirm the person livestreaming meets YouTube’s current minimum age requirement of 16.
- If this is the channel’s first time enabling live streaming, do it well before launch: YouTube says activation can take up to 24 hours.
3. Create a YouTube broadcast and connect OBS
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create a stream or schedule one, and choose the encoder workflow.
- Copy the server or stream URL and stream key shown for that broadcast.
- In OBS Studio, open Settings > Stream, select the YouTube service or the available YouTube preset, and enter the stream URL and key as required by that configuration.
- Keep the stream key private. Anyone who obtains it may be able to send video to your broadcast. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before continuing.
- Start the encoder in OBS and wait for the incoming signal and preview in YouTube’s Live Control Room. For a scheduled broadcast, confirm the preview there, then select Go live in the Live Control Room when you are ready to publish.
YouTube creates the watch page when the encoder begins sending the stream. Use OBS Project’s current Knowledge Base and Help Portal for version-specific OBS interface details; old forum instructions may not match the installed version.
4. Set up the Marathi audio program and visual
OBS encodes the program it receives; it does not grant music rights or determine whether your playlist is legally usable. Choose a playback arrangement that reliably supplies the intended tracks to OBS, and verify that it advances and repeats as intended in a private or unlisted test. The exact playlist-loop workflow can depend on the current OBS version and playback setup, so consult current OBS documentation rather than assuming a particular playlist control is universal.

For a radio-style channel with a static image, a standard SDR visual is a straightforward starting point. Use artwork you have permission to display, and check that the image and any on-screen text remain appropriate for the entire broadcast. Test the audio for audibility and clipping, and check the picture and sound from a second device viewing the actual YouTube preview or watch page.
5. Choose encoder settings YouTube can ingest
YouTube’s current encoder guidance lists RTMP/RTMPS ingest and recommends RTMPS, which encrypts the connection to Google’s servers. It lists H.264, H.265, and AV1 video encoding for RTMP/RTMPS, AAC or MP3 audio, CBR bitrate encoding, and frame rates up to 60 fps. H.264 is a practical compatibility-first starting point.

| Setting | Practical starting point | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Protocol | RTMPS when available | YouTube recommends it for an encrypted connection to its servers. |
| Video codec | H.264 | YouTube also lists H.265 and AV1 for RTMP/RTMPS. |
| Resolution and frame rate | Choose a resolution and frame rate your connection can sustain; 1080p30 or 720p30 are reasonable static-radio starting points. | These are not guarantees of delivered quality. YouTube’s recommended H.264 ingest bitrate is 5 Mbps for 1080p30 and 3 Mbps for 720p30. |
| Rate control | CBR | YouTube lists constant bitrate encoding for these ingest protocols. |
| Keyframe interval | 2 seconds | YouTube recommends 2 seconds and says not to exceed 4 seconds. |
| Audio codec and bitrate | AAC or MP3; 128 Kbps stereo is YouTube’s recommended audio bitrate. | Test the real program audio; technical settings do not establish music rights. |
Set the bitrate to suit the chosen resolution and your stable upload capacity, not your download speed. YouTube recommends that available upload bandwidth be at least the total stream bitrate plus 20% headroom. For example, a 5 Mbps video stream plus audio needs more than 5 Mbps of dependable upload capacity; leave additional margin for network variation and other people or devices sharing the connection.
6. Test before making the channel public
- Run an unlisted or private test using the same music and visual assets intended for the live channel.
- Check the Live Control Room preview for picture, audio, and stream-health warnings. Confirm the audio is audible without clipping.
- View the watch page on another device and network if possible, so you check what a viewer receives rather than only the OBS preview.
- Monitor the stream during the test and after launch. YouTube recommends testing before streaming and continuing to monitor audio and video quality.
- If you need an archive, enable a local recording backup in your setup and verify that the recording file is growing during the test.
7. Plan for continuous operation and archives
A local OBS stream depends on the computer, power, playback source, and outbound internet remaining available. YouTube notes that shared networks can reduce available bandwidth; check upload capacity under realistic conditions and ensure it has the recommended 20% headroom above the total stream bitrate. Decide who will notice an interruption and restart the broadcast. YouTube’s guidance supports testing, monitoring, and a reliable network, but does not prescribe a particular automatic restart tool or guarantee unattended 24/7 operation.

Continuous listening and a complete replay are separate goals. YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. If an archive matters, schedule broadcasts in segments shorter than 12 hours and keep a local recording backup; verify the local file is recording rather than assuming the YouTube archive will be complete.

- YouTube does not receive a signal: Check that OBS is using the server URL and stream key for the correct broadcast, that the key has not been reset, and that OBS is actually sending. Replace an exposed key in YouTube Studio.
- The preview is unstable or stream health reports problems: Compare the total video and audio bitrate with actual upload bandwidth, allow at least 20% headroom, reduce the output load if necessary, and check for other users or devices consuming the connection.
- Audio is silent, clipped, or stops advancing: Check the playback source feeding OBS, its output level, and the audio in YouTube’s preview. Verify the playlist’s advance and repeat behavior in a test before relying on it unattended.
- A song triggers a warning or the broadcast is interrupted: Stop using that material and resolve the rights issue with the relevant owner. A license may not prevent a Content ID interruption unless the owner has allowlisted the channel.
- The live replay is missing or incomplete: Check the broadcast duration against YouTube’s 12-hour archive guidance and inspect the local recording backup. Do not treat uninterrupted live delivery as proof that a complete VOD was saved.
- The channel cannot start a livestream: Confirm verification, check for a restriction in the last 90 days, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time live activation.
