To loop one regional-language MP4 in OBS, add it as a Media Source and enable Loop. To repeat several files in order, use a VLC Video source with a playlist and Loop Playlist enabled; that source requires VLC installed, with its architecture matching OBS. Then connect OBS to YouTube Live, check the Live Control Room preview, and test the exact files, sound and connection before going public.
Choose the right OBS source
| What you want to play | OBS source | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| One MP4, repeated | Media Source | Choose the file and enable Loop. VLC is not required for this source. OBS lists MP4 among supported video types, but that does not guarantee every codec, profile or damaged file will play correctly. Test your file in OBS before the broadcast. |
| Several MP4 files, repeated in order | VLC Video | Add the files in the intended order and enable Loop Playlist. VLC must be installed. A 64-bit OBS installation requires 64-bit VLC. OBS documents Loop Playlist as on by default; check the setting rather than relying on the default. |
The language of the audio does not change the looping procedure. Playback language, audio-track selection and subtitle display are separate concerns; OBS’s source documentation does not describe a special regional-language setting.
Loop a single MP4
- Open OBS and select the scene that will carry the video.
- In the Sources dock, select + and add Media Source. Create a new source or select an existing one.
- In the source properties, select the local MP4 file.
- Enable Loop, then confirm the properties. Resize or position the source in the preview if needed.
- Start playback and watch through the file’s ending to confirm it restarts. Check the Audio Mixer meters and listen to the output so you know the intended audio is being sent.
Loop multiple MP4 files
- Install VLC before adding the playlist source. Match the VLC architecture to OBS: 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC.
- In the OBS Sources dock, select + and add VLC Video.
- In the source properties, add the MP4 files and arrange them in the order you want them to play.
- Confirm that Loop Playlist is enabled. If you want a fixed sequence, do not select shuffle.
- Test the transition from one file to the next and the return to the beginning after the last file. Check that the source remains visible in the scene during playback; visibility changes can affect whether a source continues playing.
For a title card, language label or subtitle, add a separate scene source rather than treating it as part of the looping control. Text rendering can depend on the font and file you use, so inspect the result in the preview.
Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, open Go Live to reach the Live Control Room. Create or select the stream and locate its stream URL and stream key.
- In OBS, open Settings > Stream, choose YouTube as the service, and enter the stream key (or use the connection option provided by your OBS version). Use the stream URL if your setup asks for it.
- Keep the stream key private. YouTube describes stream keys as “your YouTube stream’s password and address”; anyone who obtains the key may be able to send a feed to your stream.
- Start streaming from OBS and wait for the Live Control Room preview to show the feed. Confirm the right video and audio are present before making the stream public.
YouTube’s current live-stream guidance says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-stream restriction in the previous 90 days to use live streaming. Check channel eligibility before scheduling a broadcast.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Preflight the video, sound and connection
- Test the exact files. MP4 is a supported container, but playback can still fail if a particular file’s codec or profile is unsupported, or if the file is damaged. Play every file in the OBS scene before the event.
- Check the complete loop. For a single file, watch it restart. For a playlist, check the order, transitions and restart after the last item.
- Verify sound. Confirm the intended audio track is audible and the OBS Audio Mixer meters respond. If no audio should be broadcast, make sure the source and mixer are not sending it.
- Check available upload bandwidth. YouTube recommends keeping upload capacity at least 20% above the total stream bitrate. This is a platform recommendation; choose resolution and bitrate for your actual connection and computer rather than assuming a specific India preset.
- Run a short private or unlisted test where practical. OBS recommends testing for a few minutes. Review the Live Control Room preview and confirm the picture, sound and connection remain stable.
- Clear rights before streaming. Make sure you are authorized to broadcast both the video and its audio publicly. Regional-language content is subject to the same copyright considerations as other material; being able to play an MP4 locally does not grant streaming rights.
Common problems and fixes
The MP4 does not appear or play
Confirm that the selected path points to the intended local file and that it plays in OBS. OBS supports MP4 as a video type, but not every MP4 codec or profile is guaranteed to work. Try another known-good file and test the exact program before going live.
The playlist source is missing or unavailable
Check that VLC is installed and that its architecture matches OBS. In particular, 64-bit OBS requires 64-bit VLC. Restart OBS after installing VLC and add the VLC Video source again.

The stream reaches YouTube but the preview is blank or silent
Check that the intended scene and source are visible, the media is playing, and the Audio Mixer shows the expected activity. Review the Live Control Room preview before making the broadcast public.
