Then connect vMix’s streaming encoder to your YouTube stream using the server URL and stream key. For a scheduled broadcast, start the encoder and click Go live in YouTube Live Control Room after its preview appears.
Choose List or PlayList
Use List when multiple files should behave like one media input and play sequentially. Use PlayList when clips are separate vMix inputs and you need settings for each item, such as its starting position, duration, or transition.

List and PlayList looping provide continuous playback, not time-of-day scheduling. vMix’s knowledge base says it does not provide time-of-day scheduling; the features can provide basic continuous playback when clips do not need to start at specific clock times. vMix Knowledge Base: scheduling
Set up a looping List input
- Add the List and files. In vMix, add a List input, open its editing window, and add the video files. You can also drag files into that window. Arrange the entries in the desired order and make sure the entries you want to play are enabled; disabled entries are skipped. vMix User Guide: List
- Enable sequential playback. Leave Auto Next on so vMix moves to the next entry automatically. It is enabled by default. Avoid Randomise if you need a repeatable order. vMix User Guide: List
- Turn on Loop. Toggle the List’s Loop control. When playback reaches the final enabled entry, the List starts again at the beginning. This setting belongs to the List input; PlayList has its own separate Loop setting. vMix User Guide: List
- Put the List on Program. Select the List input for vMix’s main Output/Program. vMix identifies Output 1 as the primary output and says it is the default source for Streaming and Recording. vMix User Guide: Outputs / NDI / SRT
- Connect vMix to YouTube Live. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create or select the stream. In vMix’s streaming settings, choose the YouTube option if available; otherwise enter the YouTube Live server URL and stream key. Start the encoder. - Start a scheduled broadcast if applicable. Starting the encoder sends its feed to YouTube, but a scheduled stream still needs to be started in Live Control Room. Wait for the preview, then click Go live. YouTube Help: Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder
- Check playback and audio. Watch vMix’s Program output and YouTube’s preview to confirm the clips advance and the feed includes both video and audio.
If you need per-clip control, use PlayList
For a sequence made from separate vMix inputs, create a PlayList and add the inputs in the intended order. Configure each item’s start position, duration, transition, and transition duration as needed, then enable PlayList’s Loop option. If an item’s duration is zero, vMix uses the input’s duration. Check YouTube’s live-stream requirements
If this is the channel’s first live stream, enabling live streaming can take up to 24 hours. YouTube also says the channel must be verified and must not have live-streaming restrictions during the past 90 days. Check the channel’s eligibility before a planned broadcast. Troubleshoot common problems

A loop setting controls what vMix plays next; it is not a guarantee of unattended recovery if the PC, network, encoder, or YouTube connection fails. For control locations that differ from these instructions, check the help for your installed vMix version: the List guide is for vMix Help 26, while the PlayList and Outputs guides are for Help 28.
