To fix dropped frames on YouTube Live over Airtel broadband, first find where frames are being lost: in the encoder, over Wi-Fi, or on the internet connection between your router and YouTube. Test upload speed—not just download speed—over Ethernet, leave about 20% upload headroom above the total stream bitrate, then lower the encoder settings if the connection cannot sustain them. A dropped outgoing stream is different from buffering that viewers experience while watching.
1. Find out whether the encoder or connection is dropping frames
Run a representative test stream
Before an important broadcast, run a test with movement and audio similar to the planned stream. In YouTube Live Control Room, watch stream health and note when the problem occurs. Check your encoder’s own statistics for network drops, rendering or encoding lag, and high CPU use. YouTube recommends testing with conditions that resemble the real stream and monitoring stream health.
If the encoder reports network drops while its local output looks normal, investigate the connection. If the local preview or recording is already poor, address the source, encoder settings, or computer load first. If viewers on several different networks report errors, YouTube advises checking the encoder as a possible cause; viewer reports alone do not prove that Airtel is at fault.
Keep a short record
- Record the date and time, whether the computer was on Wi-Fi or Ethernet, and the encoder’s drop or lag messages.
- Note YouTube Live Control Room’s stream-health warnings and whether the problem affected the encoder preview or only the outgoing stream.
- Record upload speed and ping during the test, and whether other devices were using the connection.
2. Check the encoder settings and computer load
Verify the stream configuration
Update the encoder software and check that its codec, bitrate, frame rate, and keyframe interval agree with the settings selected for the YouTube stream and any messages in Live Control Room. YouTube recommends CBR, RTMP or RTMPS, and a two-second keyframe interval; do not set the interval above four seconds. Follow a specific Live Control Room warning if it identifies a mismatched bitrate or keyframe interval.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Check CPU load while streaming. If the computer is overloaded, reduce the encoding workload and test again; changing Airtel settings will not fix frames lost during local rendering or encoding. Compare the encoder’s local output with the outgoing stream to distinguish local processing problems from network transmission problems.
Choose a bitrate the connection can sustain
The following are YouTube’s H.264 live-ingest recommendations, not measurements of Airtel upload speed. The minimum figures are YouTube’s listed minimums; they do not mean a connection will reliably sustain that bitrate.

| H.264 setting | YouTube recommended ingest bitrate | YouTube listed minimum | When to test it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 720p at 30 fps | 5 Mbps | 3 Mbps | A lower-bitrate starting point when higher settings leave too little upload headroom. |
| 720p at 60 fps | 8 Mbps | 3 Mbps | When smoother motion matters and upload capacity can sustain the higher bitrate. |
| 1080p at 30 fps | 14 Mbps | 5 Mbps | When image detail matters and upload performance remains stable with headroom. |
| 1080p at 60 fps | 17 Mbps | 6 Mbps | For motion-heavy content only when upload performance can sustain the higher rate. |
There is no single best resolution for every Airtel connection. If your stream drops frames, test a lower resolution and/or frame rate and check stream health again. YouTube’s bitrate recommendations also vary by resolution, frame rate, and codec; consult its live encoder settings guidance for combinations not listed here.
3. Measure upload capacity and leave room for other traffic
Test upload, not just download
Upload speed carries your live video from the encoder to YouTube. A fast download result does not establish that upload is adequate. Run a speed test that reports upload speed and ping. Airtel’s guidance recommends testing over a wired connection where possible and pausing background downloads.

Calculate headroom for the total stream
YouTube recommends leaving about 20% room above the total stream bitrate. For example, a 10 Mbps total stream bitrate calls for roughly 12 Mbps of available upload capacity under this planning rule. Include both the primary and backup stream if you send one. This is a recommendation, not a guarantee: other users and devices sharing the connection consume capacity, and the available upload can vary over time.
Repeat the test at the times when the drops usually happen, with other household traffic controlled as much as practical. A good result at a quiet time does not show that upload capacity will remain stable during a busy broadcast.

4. Compare Ethernet with Wi-Fi
Run the wired comparison
Where possible, connect the streaming computer directly to the Airtel router or ONT using an RJ45 Cat5 or Cat6 Ethernet cable. Repeat the upload test and stream test under conditions similar to the Wi-Fi test, with background downloads paused. Airtel recommends a wired test because Wi-Fi can reduce measured speed and is affected by interference.
- Wired is stable, Wi-Fi drops: focus on Wi-Fi signal, interference, distance, and obstructions rather than changing the stream bitrate first.
- Both wired and Wi-Fi drop: check upload headroom and encoder diagnostics, then investigate the broadband path or outbound connectivity.
- Only the encoder reports rendering or encoding lag: investigate computer load and encoder settings before treating the issue as an ISP fault.
If Wi-Fi is the only option
Try moving the router to an open, central location and reducing obstructions between it and the streaming device. Airtel describes 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi as having longer range but lower speed, while 5 GHz is faster at shorter range. Choose based on the signal at the computer and test again; neither band guarantees a fix for packet loss. Airtel also describes Wi-Fi diagnosis and optimization through the Airtel Thanks app for Xstream Fiber customers; app menu names may change.

5. Contact Airtel if the wired test still points to the connection
If the encoder’s local output is healthy but a wired test still shows poor upload performance or YouTube reports a connection problem, contact Airtel through the broadband support route that applies to your service and location. Airtel identifies its app and broadband support channels; availability and app labels can vary.
Give support useful evidence rather than only saying the stream drops: include the affected dates and times, wired and Wi-Fi results, upload speed and ping, YouTube stream-health messages, encoder network or CPU diagnostics, and whether other internet services are affected. This helps distinguish a Wi-Fi issue from a broader connection problem. The published Airtel and YouTube guidance does not establish a general Airtel-YouTube Live incompatibility or prove a fault on any individual connection.
Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is instead to keep an uploaded recording or playlist live on YouTube, StreamNeo is a different option: upload the video, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It plays uploaded videos, not a live camera feed, and sends to YouTube only.
- Your computer and home connection do not have to stay on to keep the cloud stream running.
- Each slot streams your upload as made, up to 4K 60fps, at one flat price per slot; there are no quality tiers or re-encoding.
- It automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream.
