Before going public, verify the channel is eligible to livestream, clear the content rights, test the full setup, and monitor YouTube’s stream health. OBS can repeat the file, but it does not by itself guarantee uninterrupted, unattended operation.
Before you start
- A verified YouTube channel with live streaming enabled and no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days. First-time enablement can take up to 24 hours, so confirm access well before your launch.
- A mini PC running OBS Studio, the hotel’s approved promotional video, and a reliable internet connection with enough upload capacity for the selected stream bitrate.
- Permission to broadcast every element in the video, including music, stock footage, logos, voice recordings, and performances.
- Time to test the actual PC, media file, network, and output settings together. The available guidance does not establish minimum mini PC specifications or guarantee that a particular model can run continuously.
YouTube describes an encoder as software or hardware that converts video into a digital format for streaming. OBS is the encoder in this setup. Follow YouTube’s current encoder setup guidance and OBS Media Sources guide; interface labels can change.
Build the loop in OBS
Loop one edited hotel video
- Open OBS Studio and create a scene for the promotion.
- In the Sources panel, select +, choose Media Source, and create a new source.
- Select the local video file. Enable Loop in the source properties, then confirm the file plays and repeats.
- Play the entire video through its end once before launch. Check that picture, audio, captions, and any overlays appear as intended and that the restart is acceptable.
Loop multiple clips
If the promotion consists of separate clips, add a VLC Video source and configure its playlist and Loop Playlist option. A single master file is simpler to maintain when the edit and sequence are fixed; a playlist is more convenient when clips need to be swapped or rearranged individually. Check the ordering and transitions during the test rather than assuming the change between files will look seamless.
Create the YouTube Live event and connect OBS
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream, then set its title, description, privacy, and other event details.
- Copy the event’s stream URL and stream key into the corresponding stream settings in OBS. Choose the RTMPS server option where available; YouTube recommends RTMPS.
- Treat the stream key like a password. Do not show it in a screen recording, screenshot, or public post. If it is exposed, reset the key in YouTube Studio and replace the saved value in OBS.
- Start the encoder for a test before the event. YouTube’s guidance says to set up encoders at least two hours ahead and start the encoder at least 15 minutes before a scheduled event.
- Use the Live Control Room preview to confirm the incoming video and audio before making the event public.
Choose output and network settings
There is no universal resolution or bitrate for every hotel video and mini PC. Choose a resolution, frame rate, and codec that the PC can encode reliably and that the actual connection can carry. A lower output demand can ease the encoding and upload burden, but test the complete configuration; the available guidance does not establish a suitable preset or hardware threshold for an unspecified mini PC.

- Use constant bitrate (CBR), as YouTube recommends.
- Set a two-second keyframe interval; YouTube says not to exceed four seconds.
- Prefer RTMPS for the ingest connection.
- Measure upload capacity on the network the mini PC will actually use. YouTube recommends keeping 20% of upload bandwidth available beyond the total stream bitrate. Other devices and shared office traffic can reduce what is available to OBS.
- In YouTube’s words, “The total bitrate you’re streaming cannot exceed the amount of upload bandwidth available.” Leave headroom rather than configuring OBS at the connection’s apparent maximum.

Test the setup before using the public watch page
- Run a private or unlisted test event and inspect the Live Control Room preview.
- Confirm the promotion plays from start to finish, loops as expected, and has usable audio. Check for black frames, unexpected pauses, clipping, or audio that stops when the video restarts.
- Check stream health and watch for dropped frames or warnings. If the signal is unstable, reduce the output demand or resolve the network problem, then test again.
- Check how the event appears on the channel and watch page, including on a mobile device, as YouTube recommends.
- Run the PC and network under the intended operating conditions long enough to expose likely interruptions. Check power, network stability, and whether the mini PC stays awake; a loop setting cannot recover from a PC shutdown or loss of connectivity.
YouTube’s streaming tips recommend testing and monitoring the event. A successful short test is useful, but it does not prove the system will remain uninterrupted for an indefinite period.

Check music and other broadcast rights
The hotel or channel operator is responsible for having the rights needed to broadcast the complete video, including music licensing rights. Ownership of the hotel footage alone does not automatically clear a background track, performer, stock clip, or other third-party material.
YouTube scans live streams for third-party content. A match may trigger a warning, placeholder, interruption, or termination. If material is licensed, the rights owner may need to allowlist the channel for the stream to proceed without an automated interruption. Review YouTube’s live-streaming terms and copyright guidance before going live.

Plan around stream duration and archives
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not count on an archive for a broadcast longer than 12 hours; keep the original promotional file separately. If the hotel needs a continuous display beyond that duration, plan how to manage the event and preserve the source without relying on YouTube’s archive.
