In YouTube Studio’s Live Control Room, create or schedule the stream, copy its server URL and stream key into the encoder, start the feed, check the preview, and then start the broadcast. Plan sessions with YouTube’s archive limit in mind: its encoder guidance says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived, so do not assume one 24-hour event will produce a complete replay.
What you need before you start
- A verified YouTube channel with no live-streaming restriction in the preceding 90 days. YouTube’s general livestream guidance also says creators must be at least 16.
- The class recordings you intend to play, arranged as a playlist or other repeatable media source in an encoder that can send a live feed to YouTube.
- A reliable encoder computer, power supply, and internet connection for a do-it-yourself setup. The feed depends on these operating continuously unless you use a cloud service.
- Permission to use all content in the recordings, including music, clips, images, and excerpts from learning materials.
For this format, the encoder workflow is the relevant YouTube route: it sends a pre-produced audiovisual feed to the Live Control Room using the server URL and stream key. YouTube does not prescribe one universal encoder or guarantee a specific 24/7 operating arrangement in the guidance cited here.
Set up the YouTube livestream
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create a livestream or schedule one in advance. YouTube supports scheduled streams and reuse of stream settings.
- In the stream’s settings, copy the YouTube server URL and stream key. Enter both in the encoder’s streaming settings. Treat the key as a password: anyone with it may be able to send a feed to your channel, so do not publish or share it.
- Set the encoder’s media source to your class playlist or playback sequence. Configure the playback behavior you want, such as moving through lessons in order and repeating the playlist. The exact controls depend on the encoder you choose.
- Start the encoder output and check the Live Control Room preview before starting the public broadcast. Confirm that picture and spoken audio are both present, the correct stream is selected, and the event is accessible to the intended audience.
- Start the stream in the Live Control Room if required by your setup, then monitor the feed. YouTube recommends checking the preview and continuously monitoring audio and video.
Plan sessions around YouTube’s archive limit
YouTube’s encoder setup guidance says livestreams under 12 hours are automatically archived. That statement does not mean a stream lasting 12 hours or more will be saved as one complete replay, nor does it establish a guaranteed method for uninterrupted 24/7 broadcasting.
Choose between one long-running event and a sequence of scheduled sessions based on the viewing experience you want, how much operator oversight you can provide, and how you will recover after a connection or encoder failure. Session boundaries may make replay expectations easier to manage, but they can interrupt watch-page continuity. Test your chosen schedule with a private or otherwise suitable trial run and verify how the resulting replay behaves before relying on it.

Protect students, rights, and monetization eligibility
Clear the material in every recording
If these are your own classes, keep original project files, lesson plans, and other production records that help demonstrate authorship. Check for third-party material in every lesson: music, video clips, illustrations, textbook pages, and examples can each have separate rights. YouTube’s livestream terms make the provider responsible for having the necessary rights for the live content and any archive, including applicable music rights. Obtain the permissions or licenses needed for your use; this is not legal advice.
Make the teaching and authorship clear
YouTube applies its monetization policies to a channel as a whole, including livestreams. It describes reused content as material republished without significant original commentary, substantive modification, or educational or entertainment value. It separately treats repetitive or mass-produced material as potentially inauthentic and ineligible for monetization. YouTube’s channel monetization policies state: “This policy applies even if you have permission from the original creator.” Permission alone therefore does not settle a reused-content review.

For spoken English classes, make it clear who created the lessons and what learners gain from them. A channel that simply loops a small set of recordings should not present them as fresh live teaching. Build a genuinely useful curriculum, make the format and prerecorded nature clear to viewers, and avoid repetitive, mass-produced uploads that add little educational value.
Keep revenue expectations realistic
Eligible YouTube Partner Program channels may have access to live ads, Super Chat and Super Stickers, and channel memberships. YouTube says ad slots are not guaranteed to serve. A 24/7 schedule does not guarantee monetization or earnings, and the available evidence here does not establish India-specific revenue rates.

Improve spoken audio when recording new lessons
A USB microphone can be a practical optional upgrade if you are recording or refreshing classes, especially when clear pronunciation is central to the lesson. YouTube’s encoder guidance describes workflows using audio hardware such as microphones and preamps, but does not endorse a particular model. You do not need to buy a microphone just to rebroadcast recordings you already have; first check that their speech is clear and consistent at ordinary listening volume.

Do-it-yourself encoder setup
With a local encoder, the computer, playback source, power, and network connection all need to remain available for the feed to continue. Plan how you will notice a failure and restart the encoder, and test that recovery procedure. The cited YouTube guidance does not guarantee continuous uptime or specify a universally best failover setup.

Troubleshooting common problems
- The Live Control Room will not let you go live: Check that the channel is verified, that you meet YouTube’s stated minimum age of 16, and that the channel has had no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days.
- YouTube is not receiving the encoder feed: Confirm that you copied the server URL and stream key from the correct event and entered them into the encoder’s streaming settings. Check that the encoder is actually sending its output.
- The preview has no sound or picture: Check the encoder’s selected media source and audio output, then confirm both in the Live Control Room preview before beginning the broadcast.
- The feed stops unexpectedly: Check the encoder computer, playback source, power, and internet connection. Use your planned restart procedure and verify the preview again. YouTube’s cited guidance does not promise automatic recovery for a locally run encoder.
- The replay does not cover the full broadcast: Keep YouTube’s documented rule in view: streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Do not assume a longer, 24/7 event will be preserved as one complete replay; validate the schedule and replay behavior you intend to use.
- Monetization is limited or unavailable: Review the channel-level reused-content and inauthentic-content policies, and make the lessons’ authorship and educational value apparent. Having permission for third-party material does not by itself resolve reused-content eligibility.
