First check whether the audio-video gap is already present at the start or grows as the Wirecast broadcast continues. A roughly constant gap is a fixed offset; a widening gap points to accumulating timing trouble. Wirecast’s delay controls can correct a measured fixed offset, but repeatedly changing them will not stop drift that keeps accumulating.
There is no single established cause for this symptom. Work through the source path, timestamps, system load, dropped frames, and relevant Wirecast release history before deciding what to change.
1. Measure whether the offset is fixed or growing
Use the same recognizable event—such as a spoken word paired with a visible action—to compare audio and video at the start and at regular intervals during a controlled test. Note the approximate gap each time.
- About the same gap throughout: treat it as a fixed offset and correct it with a source delay control.
- The gap grows over time: investigate timing stability, source clocks, system load, and frame delivery. A static delay only shifts timing; it does not correct a rate mismatch that makes the gap grow.
Also check whether a local recording of Wirecast’s program output is already out of sync. If it is, the problem is present before YouTube receives the stream. If the local output appears synchronized but a viewer’s stream does not, compare under controlled playback conditions and include that distinction when troubleshooting; the reviewed Telestream material does not establish YouTube as the cause of this symptom.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
2. Map the audio and video source chain
Write down where each signal enters Wirecast. For example, video may come from a camera through a capture device while audio comes from a separate USB microphone. A Webstream source or multiple inputs add other paths to investigate.
- Identify each camera, capture device, USB device, Webstream, and separate microphone in use.
- Record whether audio and video originate from the same device or separate devices, and whether the mismatch is present with only one source active.
- Test one source path at a time where practical, changing only one condition per test.
Telestream’s version history documents historical sync-related fixes involving Webstream sources, USB devices, and multiple inputs. Those entries are useful prompts for isolating a relevant path, not proof that any particular device—or your current Wirecast version—is responsible.
3. Test timestamps on a Webstream source
If the affected input is a Webstream, open its source properties and compare the timestamp options Provided by source and Provided by Wirecast. The Windows Wirecast User Guide explains that inaccurate source timestamps can leave audio and video out of sync. It also cautions that Wirecast-generated timestamps may arrive late under heavy system load. Neither option is universally correct: test each against the actual source in a controlled broadcast.

Change one timestamp setting at a time, then compare the program output at the beginning and at fixed intervals. The guide’s explanation is in Telestream’s Wirecast User Guide (Windows), Web Stream Properties, p. 135.

When the gap is stable rather than growing, use the delay control for the relevant source. Telestream’s Windows guide describes audio and video delay controls adjustable in increments as small as 1 ms.
- Open the affected source’s properties in Wirecast and locate its audio delay or video delay control.
- Adjust in small increments based on the offset you measured. Choose the control that moves the relevant signal into alignment; avoid making a large unmeasured change.
- Check synchronization on the program output, not only in local monitoring.
- Repeat the start-to-later-interval comparison. If the gap grows despite an aligned start, return to timing and stability checks instead of continuing to add delay.
Control names and placement can vary by version and source type. Use the guide for the installed Windows version as a reference rather than assuming every source exposes identical controls.

5. Check sustained load, dropped frames, and delivery capacity
Monitor Wirecast’s CPU use and dropped-frame indicators while the broadcast is running. Telestream states that sustained system CPU usage greater than 60% increases the likelihood of dropped frames. That is a performance-risk threshold, not proof that CPU load alone caused audio drift.
- Check whether CPU use is sustained above that level, whether Wirecast reports dropped frames, and whether the problem appears as load rises.
- Check available upload capacity and the delivery path. Telestream’s FAQ recommends testing in a controlled local environment and lowering the data rate—and possibly the frame rate or frame size—if capacity is exceeded.
- Compare a controlled local program recording with the stream as viewed by a viewer. Viewer-side decoding conditions may affect what is observed, so note where the mismatch first appears.
See Telestream’s Wirecast support FAQ for its troubleshooting guidance on performance and delivery limits, and Wirecast Technical Specifications for the CPU threshold.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

Check the installed Wirecast version, then compare its release history with the source path you isolated. Telestream’s history records a Webstream-source audio/video sync issue fixed in Wirecast 15.0.3 (June 27, 2022), changes intended to improve sync drift between USB devices in version 14.3.2 (October 4, 2021), and a fix for reported sync issues with multiple inputs in an earlier release. These are historical release notes, not a diagnosis of a current installation.

Capture a short recording or timestamped observations from a controlled test, and collect the details that distinguish a source-timing issue from performance or delivery trouble:
- Operating system and installed Wirecast version.
- Models and signal paths for the audio and video sources; note whether they share a device or clock.
- Whether the offset is constant or grows, and the approximate gap at each observation point.
- Webstream timestamp choice, if applicable.
- CPU behavior, dropped-frame observations, and upload/delivery conditions during the test.
- Whether the local program output is already out of sync before YouTube receives it.
Telestream’s support FAQ recommends submitting support information for software diagnosis, but does not publish a sync-specific log recipe in the reviewed guidance. Provide the observations above and follow the support team’s instructions for any additional files.
