Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteThe simplest way to record a YouTube video is to film with a phone camera, then upload the saved video in the YouTube app or YouTube Studio. On a computer, record with separate software first: YouTube does not provide a webcam recording feature for desktop. Start with the equipment you have; stable framing, soft light, and clear audio usually matter more than buying a full camera setup.
Choose how you’ll record
- Phone: Record with the built-in camera, then upload using the YouTube app. A phone is enough to get started, according to YouTube Help.
- Computer: Use recording software to make and save a video, then upload it through YouTube Studio. YouTube’s computer workflow does not record webcam footage for you; see Record & upload a video.
- Separate camera: A point-and-shoot or DSLR may suit a particular production style, but choose based on what you want to make. YouTube advises considering a mobile device before investing in more equipment; its video equipment tips explain the trade-offs.
Set up your phone shot
Frame the video
For conventional horizontal video, hold the phone horizontally for 16:9 HD framing. Use the rear camera if practical; it records at a higher resolution than the front camera. Turn off notifications so calls or alerts do not interrupt a take. If your phone offers manual focus and exposure controls and you are comfortable using them, set and lock focus and exposure to prevent visible shifts while recording. These are among YouTube’s mobile filming tips.
Keep the phone steady
Rest it on a stable surface or hold it with both hands and keep your movements deliberate. A flexible tripod or selfie stick is optional if you need a particular angle or want hands-free positioning; it is not a prerequisite for recording.
Choose the location and background
Before recording, check what appears behind you and whether the framing suits the video. Look for a quiet place with usable light, and make sure the camera, microphone, and any lights work before you begin. YouTube’s filming tips also recommend charging devices, preparing backup batteries or storage for larger shoots, getting necessary permissions, and respecting other people’s privacy.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Make the picture and sound clear
Use soft, even light
At home, try facing a window so light falls on your face. Outdoors, shade can reduce harsh highlights and dark shadows. A white card or reflector can bounce light onto a subject. If daylight and the room’s existing lights do not work for the shot, an additional soft or camera-mounted light may help; first see whether repositioning yourself solves the problem. YouTube covers these basics in its mobile filming tips and equipment guidance.
Make speech easy to hear
Move closer to the phone’s microphone, and do not cover it with your hand or a case. Reduce distracting noise: turn off fans, close windows, and soften echo by adding materials such as curtains or blankets to hard, reflective spaces. If the built-in microphone still cannot capture clean speech, consider a compatible external microphone.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
YouTube’s equipment tips say an onboard camera microphone may require staying three to four feet away for the best audio. A shotgun microphone is directional and can suit natural sound at a longer range; a wireless lavalier attaches to a person and can work when the speaker is moving or farther from the camera. Check that your phone or camera supports the microphone connection before buying.
Decide whether you need extra equipment
Start by identifying a problem, then see if a change in position or a piece of equipment you already own can solve it. YouTube recommends choosing gear around the video you want to make, not buying a complete setup by default.

| Need | Try first | Optional equipment | What to check |
|---|---|---|---|
| Steadier or hands-free phone shots | Brace the phone on a stable surface. | Flexible tripod or selfie stick | Whether it holds your phone securely and suits the shot. |
| Speech is distant or the setting is noisy | Move closer and find a quieter location. | Compatible external microphone; a lavalier for a moving or distant speaker, or a shotgun mic for directional pickup. | Connection compatibility with the phone or camera. |
| Dim or harsh lighting | Try a window, shade, or a different position. | Soft light or camera-mounted light | Whether the light can be positioned to suit the scene. |
| You need different creative control or an all-in-one camera | Decide what your current phone cannot do for the video. | Point-and-shoot or DSLR | A point-and-shoot can be simpler; a DSLR offers more creative control but is heavier, more complex, and typically costs more. |
The camera choice depends on your production goals rather than a universal best option. YouTube’s equipment guide recommends checking for an external-microphone port before buying a mic.
Record on a computer
YouTube’s desktop upload process starts with a video file you have already made and saved. Use computer recording software to capture your webcam, screen, or other source; the recording controls depend on the software you choose. After recording, check that the file plays and that the audio is audible before uploading. YouTube confirms that it has no computer webcam recording feature in its recording and upload help.
