Find your YouTube ingest URL and stream key in YouTube Studio: choose Create → Go live, then open the Stream tab in Live Control Room. Paste the URL into your encoder’s server field and the key into its stream-key field. YouTube does not specify a separate India-only ingest endpoint; use the settings shown for your own channel.
Find the stream URL and key in YouTube Studio
- Sign in to YouTube Studio and select Create → Go live.
- In Live Control Room, choose the Stream tab.
- Under Stream settings, copy the stream URL and stream key.
- In your encoder, enter the URL in the server or URL field and the key in the stream-key field, then start sending the feed.
The stream key is password-like: anyone who has it may be able to send a feed to your channel. YouTube describes stream keys as “like your YouTube stream’s password and address” (YouTube Help: Manage live stream settings). Do not publish it, include it in a public screenshot, or send it to someone who does not need access. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room’s Stream tab and update the encoder with the replacement key.
Choose an immediate or scheduled broadcast
Start an encoder stream now
Use Create → Go live → Stream to configure a live encoder feed. Select a YouTube preset in the encoder if one is available; otherwise, enter the URL and key manually. Once the feed reaches YouTube, check the preview before starting the broadcast.
Schedule a watch page in advance
In Live Control Room, open Manage and select Schedule stream. Configure the scheduled broadcast, then start sending the encoder feed. When it appears in preview, select Go live in Live Control Room to begin the scheduled broadcast. Set and communicate the start time clearly for viewers in India; the reviewed YouTube setup guidance does not establish a particular timezone display rule.

Use RTMPS and check the encoder settings
YouTube recommends encrypted RTMPS. In Live Control Room, use the lock control beside Stream URL to reveal the RTMPS address, then use that address in the encoder rather than assuming a generic endpoint. If the encoder reports an SSL error, verify that both the protocol scheme and host are the RTMPS values. YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance also suggests port 443 where the encoder lets you specify a port (YouTube Help: Troubleshoot live stream issues).
Use the current YouTube encoder guidance and a preset compatible with both your encoder and source. YouTube lists H.264, HEVC, and AV1; recommends CBR; and recommends a two-second keyframe interval, which should not exceed four seconds. Confirm the supported codec, resolution, and bitrate for the chosen encoder and the source material in YouTube’s encoder settings guidance.

Plan a 24/7 stream around YouTube’s archive limit
A stream that stays live and a stream that produces a complete replay are different things. YouTube says streams shorter than 12 hours can be automatically archived, but a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all (YouTube Help: Archive live streams). A single uninterrupted 24-hour session therefore risks having no complete YouTube archive. This warning concerns archive capture; it does not say that continuous streaming itself is prohibited.
- If a replay matters, plan shorter sessions rather than relying on one session longer than 12 hours.
- Keep a local recording as a backup and check that the archive file is growing during the broadcast.
- Plan how each session will end and restart, including who or what will act on the transition.
Prepare and monitor the broadcast
YouTube’s live-streaming checklist recommends preparing the encoder at least two hours ahead and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled event. For a continuous channel, adapt that preparation to the first launch and to any planned session handoff.

- Check that the correct channel and scheduled watch page are selected.
- Confirm the encoder feed appears in Live Control Room preview and that audio and video are working.
- Test backup-encoder failover before relying on it.
- Check that local archive files are growing, and monitor audio and video quality during the stream.
- Confirm that the watch page opens and can be accessed on mobile.
These checks follow YouTube’s live streaming tips. YouTube says dedicated hardware encoders can suit higher-production-value broadcasts, but expensive equipment is not necessary to get started (YouTube Help: Choose your live encoder).

The encoder will not connect
Check that the URL and key came from the channel’s current Live Control Room settings and are in the correct encoder fields. If using RTMPS, verify both the scheme and host; try port 443 if the encoder supports port configuration and YouTube’s SSL troubleshooting points to it.

The encoder connects, but no preview appears
Confirm that the encoder is actively sending to the intended channel and that the selected URL and key belong to that channel. For a scheduled broadcast, wait for the incoming feed to appear in preview before selecting Go live.
The stream key may have been exposed
Reset the key in Live Control Room’s Stream tab and replace it in the encoder. Treat the new key with the same care as a password.

The replay is missing or incomplete
Check the stream duration. YouTube warns that streams exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all; keep a local recording and use shorter sessions when a replay is important.
